PRE-SEED... does it work? 👀 🤔

Hi all!

So this is our 8th month of TTC following two chemical pregnancies..
This month I've decided to try pressed! We have DTD a lot more regularly this month in the hopes that it sill make a difference, and have targeted ovulation perfectly so DTD two days before, and will do tonight and tomorrow (ovulated today)

Has anybody got any success stories of pre-seed? I guess it can't be any harm trying but would love to know if it lives up to my expectations!

If you've found this page in search of lubes that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best lubes useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

Following, as would also like to know! Have forgone using it recently to see if we have more success, but would definitely be more comfortable with it!

BertieBotts · 15/04/2021 21:55

No anecdotal experience with it, but chemically it's just lube which doesn't contain spermicide and is the correct PH level to support sperm. Most lubes that you use otherwise will be unfriendly to sperm in one of these ways.

Analysethat · 15/04/2021 21:57

Can’t say if it worked or not but I’m 37 weeks via Home Insemination and I used pre-seed first. Make of that what you want.

Wowcherarestalkingme · 15/04/2021 21:57

DH and I were trying for 8 months before we tried pre-seed. Fell pregnant two months later. Used it for all three subsequent pregnancies and fell pregnant within three months for all of them. No idea if it was the pre-seed that made the difference but it hadn’t happened before so I’m assuming it made some difference

georgarina · 15/04/2021 21:57

Worked for me! It's good for months when you don't have a lot of CM as it helps keep the sperm nourished and in a 'friendly' environment

roidnait · 15/04/2021 21:58

@NRE20 sorry for the TMI - but we have never needed lube before so this is all super new to me.. it's amazing that it could potentially be what we need to conceive!
We have had a really rough journey so far.. implant removed July 2020 and TTC ever since.. had two losses which really broke me, but i just feel really positive about this month. I don't know why! 🤷‍♀️
We tried the 'not trying' approach the last 3 months and nothing came of it, but in all honesty I don't think we were DTD enough and at the right time! BlushHmm

@BertieBotts that's the thing! I wasn't sure if it's more just a line that doesn't harm the sorry or if it is some kind of fertility magic 🤔🤣

@Analysethat wow congratulations! 🥰

Can't say whether pre seed was the reason, but I used it from the start and fell pregnant on the second month of trying. I'd definitely use it again in future! Good luck!

Taybz · 15/04/2021 22:11

Don't think it worked for us at all. It took us a while to conceive and we used it diligently every single month. The month we conceived was the month that we didn't use it because we had run out! Honestly think it's just pot-luck and a placebo effect.

NRE20 · 15/04/2021 22:11

@roidnait, definitely not TMI. I admire you for having the courage to ask the question. We shouldn’t feel embarrassed, or ashamed, to discuss ways to make sex more comfortable and enjoyable that could also positively affect fertility.

I can understand your pain with the losses. I had a miscarriage last year, which affected me hugely. We’ve been TTC baby no. 2 for 3 years and I just turned 40. The stress and grief is very real.

Thank you to the others on your positive stories. Think I will go back to using Pre-Seed and see what happens!

goodenergy · 15/04/2021 22:21

Got pregnant on the third try and the only thing that was different that month was using pre-seed plus menstrual cups after BD! So I would definitely give it a go!

Peaplant20 · 16/04/2021 08:12

We conceived on the second cycle of using it I think but we had also done a few other things different that month like using ovulation sticks xx

EssentialHummus · 16/04/2021 08:16

We used Conceive + rather than Pre-Seed but, yes, worked on first month of trying (after a few months without) and now expecting twins Grin.

OnTheBrink1 · 16/04/2021 08:36

Yes it worked for me both times!

ladyapinks · 16/04/2021 08:45

Worked for me both times and second time had twins

YukoandHiro · 16/04/2021 08:47

I think it helps. Took over a year to conceive my first. Took six months with my second, the last three months of which we were using it. Age was against us - me late 30s, DH more than a decade older.

MrsBtobe2020 · 16/04/2021 09:46

We used conceive plus and conceived the first month we used it after having 4 unsuccessful months, now 33 weeks!

Rosieposy89 · 16/04/2021 10:04

We tried it and it didn't work. Its just lube without spermicide.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 16/04/2021 10:16

I did use it and was pregnant again on the fourth try (I had an early loss before that but I wasn’t using anything then) but I think what made the biggest difference was making sure we DTD a lot in the run up to, rather than on the day of or after, ovulation.it’s way better to have sperm already waiting to meet the egg than hope they swim up in time and the egg is still viable. The egg hardly hangs around at all but the sperm can be waiting there for days.

hmmperhaps · 16/04/2021 10:55

Used it a lot and it never worked for me.

AegonT · 16/04/2021 10:59

I'm not sure but for both pregnancies I conceived the month I bought it but before I used any or even opened the box! First time TTC took one month, second time (five years later) it took ten months.

fairgame84 · 16/04/2021 11:06

I've been using conceive + and still not pregnant.
Preseed is my next step i think.

@goodenergy im glad to read the cup worked, I was going to try that but thought it might be a crazy idea 💡
