Congratulations @cloud2021, an extra 6 days is pretty epic!

Just for the people who were helping me - I had a scan at the EPU today. I'm 6 weeks from ovulation, 6+6 from LMP. They did an external scan with a sonographer and a trainee; no option for an internal, which is what I'd been prepped for... They could see a sac and yolk sac measuring right for between 5.5 - 6.5 weeks, but no heartbeat yet, so they couldn't confirm a viable pregnancy. I can go back in two weeks for an updated scan to make sure that baby has grown, and that there is a heartbeat at that point.

To be honest, I felt better today before I went - I'm nauseous today, I'm peeing a lot and bloated, I "felt" pregnant when I woke up... now I'm sat trying to work, feeling scared and not able to concentrate. Two weeks is going to pass really slowly.

I suspect they needed people to scan for the trainee sonographer, as they were adamant on Friday that a scan would be more worrying than reassuring before 8 weeks - Generally, I'd probably stick to that advice, in the future.

tuxedocat · 26/04/2021 11:33

@TakeYourFinalPosition sorry you feel more anxious now - could you get a private scan In a week to help ease your worries perhaps?

cloud2021 · 26/04/2021 11:33

Thank you @tuxe**@tuxedocat@TakeYourFinalPosition

I have to say I had an internal scan, as the clinic I went to prefer to do so under 9 weeks... so that's also probably why they were able to have a clearer view and see the heartbeat!

I agree it is so difficult to relax and to be honest as I said the early scan is exciting, but personally I know it won't keep the worries away for long :) just need to get to the 12 weeks!

MissOrganisedMe · 26/04/2021 11:50

Hi everyone. I'm anxious today. I have my early scan. I think I'm 8+3, we'll soon find out! Gah!

Mosshead348 · 26/04/2021 11:52

@TakeYourFinalPosition I completely sympathise with you. I had an early (internal) scan at roughly 5+5 and all they could see was the gest sac and it caused me far more worry than reassurance but the midwife didn’t seem concerned at all! The fact they can see a yolk sac through an external scan at such an early stage is amazing and you need to try and take the reassurance you can from that ❤️ Xx

Em39ma · 26/04/2021 12:03

I think we all are worrying today.
After my miscarriages I get really worried.
Just decided to do my last date Clearblue and I’ve gone up to 3+ which has made me feel a little better.
With my ectopic it took 3 weeks to get to 2-3, but my numbers went up quickly with my last miscarriage, so never I know I will continue to worry.
Managed to book my early scan for the 15th I will be about 7+3 then.

Horehound · 26/04/2021 12:04

Yes remember at these times the size of the fetus is millimetres. It's incredible really that yolk sac etc can be picked up!

Wishing you luck though.

@MissOrganisedMe hope all goes well!

@Em39ma we really are aren’t we! Monday blues.

I am the same as you worry so much after MC, hoping for a positive outcome for you ❤️X

tuxedocat · 26/04/2021 12:38

Why does early pregnancy drag so much? I’m so thankful to be working and looking after my toddler but it feels like SUCH a stretch to 12 weeks. That will be middle to June for me - it seems so far away!
I’m still too chicken to refer to the midwife yet, I wasn’t this anxious with my son so I’m not sure why I’m so anxious this time.

TTC94 · 26/04/2021 12:44

Early pregnancy is excruciatingly slow and agonising.

My 12 week scan will be about mid June too, it feels like a lifetime away!

My anxiety is through the roof but I’m trying to keep focused on the working week! Xx

apwilso · 26/04/2021 12:53

I know how you feel. I'm so anxious as this is my first every pregnancy and I don't know how I should feel. At 6 weeks today and just want to know everything is okay

gizmo167 · 26/04/2021 12:55

Agree with you all re the worry! I feel like a total ball of nerves today, so aware that I havent gotten beyond CD44 in the last two mc's so really nervous!

TTC94 · 26/04/2021 13:41

I’m currently on CD35. My last pregnancy ended on CD33 when I started bleeding (miscarriage).

I hope the time speeds up because I’ve only known I’m pregnant for a week and it’s already felt like forever!

Let’s do this ladies. We’re all in this together and must stay positive xx

TTCbabyH · 26/04/2021 13:56

@TakeYourFinalPosition the reason scans are usually internal are because they're so much more accurate at such early stages.

I had a ges sac and yolk sac at 5+5 and then went back at 7 and had the heartbeat

It's a really scary time but hold in tight xx

TreeRoad · 26/04/2021 14:58

@apwilso What your midwife said is not strictly true. I had a private scan at 6+1 and the heartbeat was there, flickering away. They were also able to tell me it’s one baby and that it wasn’t ectopic.

It’s not always possible to see the heartbeat; many people wait until 7 weeks because they’d go home feeling even more anxious if they didn’t see it.

Cumspe · 26/04/2021 15:16

@TakeYourFinalPosition I am sorry to hear your scan hasn’t given you the comfort that you were looking for but hang in there. I know it will feel like a long time but you may get more symptoms to reassure you while you wait.

I am tempted to book a scan at 8-9 weeks but also worried it won’t give me the reassurance I am looking for so do I just slog it out until my 12 scan in early June!! Even writing it down makes it seem like it might as well be next year. Throwing myself into work and decluttering in hope it will keep me a preoccupied even a little.

It’s so hard I never imagined early pregnancy would be soo nerve racking after the stress of TTC.

On a positive note Monday is almost over 😂

Sair44411 · 26/04/2021 15:28
@Iheartbed Congratulations!!

@TTCbabyH Are the headaches pregnancy related?! I’m 6 weeks... I’ve had one for the past two days but I did not make the link.

I’ve tried to avoid paracetamol too, I’m currently drinking and peeing for England.
Can we not have paracetamol? I googled it and said okay so I've had some occasionally when needed

TTCbabyH · 26/04/2021 15:37

@Sair44411 don't worry paracetamol is safe at the lowest dose for the shortest amount of time according to the NHS website but I've just personally been trying to avoid it though (no particular reason maybe because I'm a IVF pregnancy so cautious Of putting any more drugs into my body!!)

amysaurus87 · 26/04/2021 16:14

Random question...are you all treating this Christmas as your babys first Christmas? Even though some of them will be days old!

TreeRoad · 26/04/2021 16:16

@TakeYourFinalPosition

Could you maybe book a private scan before the 2 week wait is up? If you have one near you, I’d recommend Window to the Womb. I used them a couple of weeks ago and they were really nice. They scan from 6 weeks.

Horehound · 26/04/2021 16:17

Yep!

TreeRoad · 26/04/2021 16:17

@amysaurus87 I hadn’t thought of that 😂 I picture a baby’s first Christmas to be them sitting up, playing with wrapping paper, excited by new toys etc.

Horehound · 26/04/2021 16:19

Uft I feel crap today
All day of just feeling sick but never amounting to anything.
I also just feel really sad. I don't know if it's because I've barely spoken a word today, weirdly lots of teams calls cancelled today so I'm feeling a bit lonely. DH and Ds will be home soon though.

I think my 12 weeks scan is actually happening bang on 11 weeks
Might mention that to the midwife on Wednesday when I'm in for bloods etc. Cause if it is, I'll have to wait an extra week for the 20 week scan and also would be good to see lots of development between my scan at 6+5 and 12 weeks rather than 11.

amysaurus87 · 26/04/2021 16:21

@TreeRoad same, my first was 8 months old by the time Christmas rolled around, he was sitting and almost crawling and loved all the lights and wrapping paper.

@Horehound I'm tempted to do the same as it will technically be babys first Christmas!

TreeRoad · 26/04/2021 16:24

@amysaurus87 Aww! I’ll need to wait til next year for that, sounds so cute! 🥰
