So sorry to read these updates @wannabemum38 @OmicronPersei7 @Mayneedanextraroom

TreeRoad · 18/04/2021 10:50

As a side note to these sad updates below, I've read countless people posting that the EPU is shut at the weekend, that no scans can be done, nobody available to see or speak to etc.

I think it's really quite awful that if you get concerning symptoms on a Friday evening you're potentially looking at 3 days before you can see or talk to anyone.

Add in a bank holiday, and it's even longer.

By all means correct me if I'm wrong, I've never (thankfully) had to call them. It just seems like such a long time to leave people waiting.

wannabemum38 · 18/04/2021 11:05

So sorry to hear others in my position. Mother nature can be cruel. My poas is still a strong positive, my boobs still hurt and I feel sick but bleeding has continued like a first day period.

@TreeRoad I am really lucky it seems my EPU is open at weekends spoke to nurse yesterday. As I had a sac growing I am.still down for a scan on Friday but I know there will be nothing there.
I wish I could be positive about another chance but I'm single now and 41 in September with low egg reserves or signs of that so my chances are all but gone.
I just want it over with now.

MissOrganisedMe · 18/04/2021 11:09

Thinking of you @wannabemum38, @OmicronPersei7 and @Mayneedanextraroom.

Sending love.

Mayneedanextraroom · 18/04/2021 11:31

Thank you everyone xx

Our local epu always used to be shut at weekends but now seems to be open, can only have an appointment if referred by GP though.

I know exactly what you mean @wannabemum38 I just want to know now, I don’t go back until the 28th :( still feeling sick and I just want a definite answer now. Sending hugs your way and praying everything is ok for you xx

wannabemum38 · 18/04/2021 11:34

@Mayneedanextraroom thats a long wait. Its the not knowing even though I know in my heart. I don't feel I can grieve properly yet. This next week is going to be long.

@Babycakes39 Thank you xxx

Horehound · 18/04/2021 12:19

@Mayneedanextraroom could you book a privates scan?

OP posts:
Mayneedanextraroom · 18/04/2021 12:38

I had bad news at a private scan just over a year ago, it was horrific - the lady didn’t deal with it very well. The baby’s heart stopped at about 9+3 (I was nearly 12 weeks at that point) and I knew there was no heart beat but she said nothing until the very end - switched the machine off like we hadn’t realised, then told us. I don’t think I can go through that again, it’s a shame though as I have had good experiences at private scans in the past. I think what made it worse is the private scan was on a Sunday and I then had to been seen at epu but couldn’t be seen til the Tuesday, then had to wait til the Friday for a d&c.

Sorry that sounded so negative :( thank you though, I think I would have considered it if I hadn’t had previous bad experience xx

Wakeupsunshinex · 18/04/2021 15:56

I'd like to join the thread! I already have 2 little boys, aged 5 and 2. I'm around 5 weeks with baby number 3, due date around the 19th of December. We'd been trying for about a year, much longer than with our other two, and we almost skipped a month because I didn't want a December baby (I'm a December baby myself!) but I changed my mind and I'm very glad I did Grin

No symptoms, didn't have any symptoms in my previous pregnancies either so it's not a worry atm. Although I am booked in for a private early scan at 8 weeks, just to make sure all is well. I have my first midwife appointment in mid May.

I'd also like to offer my well wishes to those experiencing loss and uncertainty at the moment Flowers

wannabemum38 · 18/04/2021 16:07

@Wakeupsunshinex congratulations :)
And thank you x

Hxoxox · 18/04/2021 16:10

@Wakeupsunshinex Hi! I am around 5 weeks too and due 17th-19th December! ☺️☺️.

I always said I wouldn't want my child to have a Christmas birthday but now I really couldn't care less as I'm so over the moon lol! There are also a lot of cute Christmas baby stuff!

How are you feeling? I don't have any symptoms either but because this is my first I'm quite worried. I had sore boobs last weekend but they are fine now. Also don't feel sick in the slightest. I have read this can be normal but doesn't stop the worry! I have a telephone appt with my midwife first week in May!

Good luck x

Wakeupsunshinex · 18/04/2021 16:33

@Hxoxox Ah lovely! I hated my December birthday growing up because it meant a whole a year between any presents 😂

Can you get a private scan at all? I suffer terribly with anxiety which is why I'm going for one again. But I found it really helped ease the worries, especially with not having any symptoms. Which is of course very normal but trying to rationalise the normality of it in your head can be difficult! But honestly, give it a few weeks and you'll be thanking your lucky stars if you still have no symptoms. It's actually a great thing to not be feeling sick all the time Grin

CityGirl182 · 18/04/2021 16:35

Anyone else experiencing cravings for ALL the carbs? My period tracker app keeps offering advice on healthy snacks, it does make me laugh, I can't go near fruit at the moment, just too acidic...

Hxoxox · 18/04/2021 16:39

@Wakeupsunshinex ha ha that is so true! I've just had my birthday and I think it's a good month as few months in between my friend is the same and no one can ever make nights out etc because of being skint and having Christmas nights out lol.

I have one booked for 2 weeks today! It will hopefully lift my anxiety ever so slightly if all is okay and measuring fine. I'll get another one at 10 weeks then my 12 week. I'm a bit over weight and 34 yo so think I'll get an extra one.

Definitely glad I'm not feeling awful but would feel more pregnant if I did lol.

BrodieKD · 18/04/2021 16:44

@CityGirl182 baby loves carbs - and anything beginning with C...crisps, chocolate, chips, cheese...Grin

I've really noticed how tired I am this weekend. I ended up having an hour & a half nap yesterday and again today. We've been doing loads of walking so I think the fresh air and exercise has wiped me out.

I have bought a bottle of nosecco - it says it's less than 0.5abv and on the front it says alcohol free. Does anyone know if it's safe to drink or is it just not worth the risk?

Wakeupsunshinex · 18/04/2021 17:12

@Hxoxox My eldest lucked out with a June birthday, his gifts are all nicely separated!

I will join you in the overweight club lol, I lost 2 stone since January in my efforts to get pregnant and am now a bit miffed at the thought of putting it all back on. My babies have been huge and so have I as a result so I'm expecting no different this time.

Will you be getting a gender scan at all? My DH is toying with the idea of not finding out this time but I know I do not have that kind of patience.

@BrodieKD I think as long as you're not chugging the nosecco all day every day, you should be fine. I love a non alcoholic kopparberg. One of my friends loved making non alcoholic cocktails when she was pregnant, she put ginger in them to help with her sickness.

MrsPussinBoots · 18/04/2021 17:17

Hi everyone! I'm 4+4 with a very unexpected pregnancy. Have only been with the dad for 2 months although we dated a few years ago. My DD is 7 and it's been just us for so long that I'm worried about how it'll all work out. But very excited too.

Horehound · 18/04/2021 17:20

Yeh those kind of drinks are fine. Actually once im past the first trimester id be happy to have a small glass of wine once a week, it really won't do anything at all

Scarletpig1 · 18/04/2021 18:13

Hi,
I'm 5weeks 1 day today, due 18th Dec. This afternoon I've been getting discharge tinged with brown blood. No cramps or anything. Do you think I need to call drs tomorrow or just wait and see if it progresses to cramps/bleeding? I've read it can sometimes happen then all is fine but sometimes leads to MC. Sad

Hxoxox · 18/04/2021 18:18

@Wakeupsunshinex Yeah definitely going to find out what we're having! Both wouldn't be able to go the whole hog without knowing lol.

So in the last hour I started getting cramps in my stomach. They feel like what I would get before my period. I also had the tiniest bit brown sticky mucus when I went to the loo there. Is this normal or should I be worried? Is it a case of a lot going on in my body or is it a warning sign? My anxiety is through the roof I can't concentrate on anything else and now this is making me worse!

The wait is unbearable for a scan!

MissOrganisedMe · 18/04/2021 18:47

@Hxoxox - this thread moves so fast! How far on are you? It could be implantation bleeding?

Hxoxox · 18/04/2021 18:57

@MissOrganisedMe I am 5 weeks roughly or 5 +2

Wakeupsunshinex · 18/04/2021 19:19

@Hxoxox Generally brown blood isn't anything to worry about but I totally understand why you're anxious about it. If it were me, I would probably try to wait it out and see if it progresses in to red blood or if it gets any heavier. But if you are unsure then please do give your doctor or midwife a call. Hopefully it's nothing Flowers

climbershell · 18/04/2021 19:23

@Hxoxox little bits of brown blood is normal as are pmt type cramps and stomach cramps, twinges.

I had a tiny bit of brown tinge on toilet paper the other day and I knew logically it was nothing to be concerned about, but my non logical emotions did go "OMG I can't lose the baby". Silly OTT thoughts pop in sometimes!

TakeYourFinalPosition · 18/04/2021 19:23

@Hxoxox I think we’re pretty similar - I’m due Dec 19th, I think!

I had cramps yesterday. They worried me a lot! They weren’t bad, but they didn’t feel good... I sat down for a bit and they seemed to go away, and I’ve had nothing today. I googled LOADS, and it seems that as long as it’s mild to moderate, it can be pretty normal with everything stretching.

I hope they let up soon
