Possible miscarrying

I’m 10 weeks pregnant, started spotting on Saturday afternoon with it being a pinkish colour. Then gradually started getting heavier, I passed a clot which was fairly big then tiny ones after that, just looked like blood clots no tissue? I went to a and e as it was a bank holiday they took my bloods said my hcg levels are still really high got a scan in the early pregnancy department tomorrow. Still bleeding a little but no cramps. Bleeding is worse when I wake up in the morning or occasionally when I stand up. The blood is bright red, am I miscarrying? I’ve heard of a sub chronic hematoma. Midwife said it could be a ‘hiding twin’ as my levels are so high. Any information anyone can tell me please, my cervix is closed and they felt my stomach apparently it feels okay, I’m so scared that I’m going to have my scan tomorrow and they are going to say there is no heartbeat

I'm afraid that you will have to wait until the scan tomorrow. It could be either.

My experience is that I had a big bleed just over a week ago and it was quite scary - bright red which soaked through my jeans with one large clot and spotting ever since. I had a scan a few days later and it showed a little fetal pole/heart beat (dated 6 weeks) and that I'd had a sub-chorionic haemorrhage with a pocket of blood still visible on the scan. The embryo was unaffected. I've tried to rest as much as I can and I have a scan next week to check that everything proceeding as expected.

The bleeding has calmed down a lot and no other clots as of yet today 🤞. I’m just hoping I’m not going to loose the baby. Hospital took my bloods and says my hcg was high but even if I was miscarrying it would still be high wouldn’t it?

I'm so sorry that you are going through this. The waiting for the scan last week was awful and I couldn't focus on anything else. But really its the only thing that will give you answers.

I've never had my hcg taken so I've no idea. From what I understand the experience of miscarriage can be anything from a missed miscarriage when someone doesn't get any symptoms for weeks, through to full on heavy bleeding worse than a period stereotypical loss. I simply didn't know myself until the sonographer said that the embryo was fine. My advice is to rest as much as possible.

FWIW my mum also bled so much when she was pregnant with me that she always said that she'd thought she'd lost my twin. This was a woman who'd had 3 children and at least 3 miscarriages by that point so she must have bled a lot. Yet I'm still here to tell the tale.

Sending big hugs to you.

I had a miscarriage a few years ago at 6/7 weeks and I had bleeding for a few days, I went to A&E and I actually passed a large-ish clot when I was there so at that point I kinda knew. I had all the bloods etc but the HCG was still quite high until the pregnancy worked it way out of my system and still test positive on a pregnancy test so had to go back to the women's unit until I tested negative.

That's my experience I'm sorry it's not a positive one but you will soon find out what your situation is tomorrow.

Hope all goes well.

Unfortunately I had this at 12 weeks and did miscarry.

Lots of warm baths to relax your muscles and paracetamol and with codeine and stay close to the bathroom

Don't bother with the hospital unless you are flooding a pad quicker than one very 15 minutes x

Vimeo0 · 06/04/2021 17:33

Blood in bright red. Having scan tomorrow do you know if it will be internal or ultrasound x

ivfbeenbusy · 06/04/2021 17:34

They will mostly likely try an abdominal first as you should be 10 weeks but if they can't see anything they'll do an internal x

I just hope there’s a heartbeat I’ll be broken otherwise

@Vimeo0 I know it's tough, stay positive and take care of your health!! Sending hugs x

Rubyrecka · 07/04/2021 10:54

Sorry to hear this! I know it doesn't feel like it at the moment but there are some positives to take - you know your able to get pregnant for one and miscarriages are very common in the first trimester. Lots of people have been in your position and have gone on to have healthy pregnancies.

All the best for the future 💐
