Clear blue weeks not progressing - I don’t feel pregnant

Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anyone could help, I’ve been desperately searching for positive threads but sadly most I’ve seen end in miscarriage.

I’m 5 weeks and 4 days (according to ovulation) and stupidly took the other Clear blue weeks indicator at 5 weeks and it’s been stuck on 2-3 weeks ever since (I’ve been madly testing each day since), I even resorted to breaking the thing open and checking the line progression (and they all are the same!!)

Scaring me even more that I don’t have any nausea or tiredness.. I just have an increased heart rate and slightly tender boobs. I haven’t had pain (more than twinges and little odd cramps now and then) and no spotting or bleeding, in fact, I wouldn’t even know I was pregnant if it wasn’t for the tests.

Freaking out.. I know only time will tell but does anyone have any experience? I’m holding out for 6 weeks, that’s my very scary cut off

Thank you, ally x

But you are still 2-3 weeks. Surely 3 plus would only be at 6 weeks. It’s not a reliable thing.
Also symptoms usually start at the 6 week or so stage.

SnooperTrooper12345 · 24/03/2021 19:51

Those tests can be very unreliable.
You need to stop testing.

Your symptoms don't mean anything.
I've never had symptoms in all 5 of my pregnancies.
Apart from sore boobs which come and go.
So please don't worry about that part.
I've never 'felt pregnant' until I start feeling the baby move.

ChocBeforeCock · 24/03/2021 19:55

I think you would in theory be 3+ at 5 weeks - a notional 2 weeks for ovulation and then 3 weeks since conception.

Please try not to worry. Everyone has different levels of HCG. You’ve only been on the same result for 4 days. Also I know you know when you ovulated but you don’t know how long it took the embryo to implant.

These tests drove me mad with both pregnancies, similar to you I got very upset when I didn’t get progression. But I had two healthy babies and I hope you will too!

I also never had any real symptoms before 6 weeks.

Good luck, please come back and let us know Flowers

Allybiscuits · 24/03/2021 19:58

Thank you both, that is reassuring to hear that maybe symptoms wise I’m a bit early. I feel hellbent on the reassurance of it increasing but I don’t think it helps in the slightest/making me worry like mad..
It’s good to hear that symptoms vary so much between people too.

Thank you too ChocBeforeCock (great name!)
It’s very silly as if I hadn’t fallen down the hole of the weeks estimator I’d maybe have assumed everything was ok until shown otherwise.
Hoping my HCG is a bit of a slow burner but still rising. And like you say, it’s still a bit of guesswork with ovulation.. and certainly with implantation.

Does implantation later affect the rising levels? As in are you slightly behind the curve?

Thanks all for replying :)

You do have a symptom though, the main one, no period.

tikha · 24/03/2021 21:15

Clear blue is not accurate at all and should have a health warning. My beta hcg was equivalent to 3 weeks but showed up as 2-3 weeks on clear blue. Caused unnecessary worry. Several threads on mumsnet about this

SECNAA · 24/03/2021 21:16

@Allybiscuits mine didn’t change to 3+ until 6w5d (did it at 6w and still said 2-3)

If u can try and leave it until well after the 6w and try again.

I’m still only 8w so can’t give any other positivity yet until I have my scan. But mine definitely changed.

I read quite a few positive posts on here so keep digging and u will find them x

3AndStopping · 24/03/2021 21:24

The clearblue tests would be putting you at 2-3 weeks still, as previous posters have said.

& lots of people (me included) don’t have any symptoms until 8+ weeks. Some never do! It’s so Individual...

Hope you feel reassured OP.

gamerchick · 24/03/2021 21:28

Stop using those awful tests OP, I really wish they would ban the damned things. They're not a diagnostic tool, they're just a rip off.

Just stop.

girlofnow · 24/03/2021 21:32

As long as they aren't going backwards I wouldn't worry too much. Mine went from
2-3 to 1-2 at around six weeks so I knew then it wasn't viable. But you really just have to wait it out (I know it's hard) and try to stop testing. What will be will be whether you test or not.

Allybiscuits · 24/03/2021 22:21

Thank you all so much, truly. It’s so helpful to get your perspectives and it has reassured me that they aren’t the be all and end all. I’ve been in my own (and OH!) head about it for a few days overanalysing and it’s honestly made me feel quite desperate and doomed about it.. it’s lifted me out of that funk tonight and I will try to take a breather, so thank you all :)

Just to throw it out there too, you could have perfect progression on a test but it doesn’t necessarily mean a healthy baby. I had a MMC but normal HCG for weeks afterwards.

Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy and baby! X

CimCardashian · 24/03/2021 22:38

I had morning sickness but it didn’t kick in til about 8 weeks.

Sceptre86 · 25/03/2021 06:29

This pregnancy I have had nausea, a heightened sense of smell and sensitive boobs but not been sick at all. In my first pregnancy I was sick rarely but if I was it was in the mornings, a heightened sense of smell and I was dizzy a lot. With my second pregnancy, I was sick in the evenings if at all and no other symptoms apart from the most important no period. The timing of my symptoms also varied in each pregnancy. The presence or lack of symptoms does no represent whether a pregnancy will be successful or not.

Put down the tests, you are creating more anxiety for yourself. Trust in your body, if you are pregnant today then there is no reason you won't be tomorrow and if there was it would be out of your control anyway. Don't let anxiety rob you of the joy and excitement of being pregnant. Allow your mind to relax and take each day as it comes.

RizzleRazzle · 25/03/2021 06:42

I’m 5 weeks and 4 days (according to ovulation) and stupidly took the other Clear blue weeks indicator at 5 weeks and it’s been stuck on 2-3 weeks ever since (I’ve been madly testing each day since)

It's only been 4 days OP! How far along are you according to LMP?

And 2-3 weeks is correct anyway?

Stop taking those tests, you are pregnant you don't need to take them anymore they will just make your anxiety worse. Mine took 10 days to change from 2-3 to 3 weeks and it meant I spent the whole first trimester convinced something was wrong. Don't do it to yourself, just try to relax.

RizzleRazzle · 25/03/2021 06:43

Just to add, I had no symptoms until 6 or 7 weeks. Some women get no symptoms at all

Allthingspeaches · 25/03/2021 07:12

My first pregnancy I didn't even find out until almost 7 weeks and had no symptoms before I found out. Not everyone has symptoms this early. Try to relax that's the best thing you can do now. X

BeeDavis · 25/03/2021 07:37

Stop. Testing.

BabyC21 · 25/03/2021 07:50

Hi @Allybiscuits I took wayyy too many of these week indicator tests and I was delighted when I got my 3+ until the next day when it went back fork to 2-3, then that evening back to 3+ and the following day back to 2-3. This went on for 3 days until it finally stayed at 3+. It caused me so much anxiety looking back it definitely was crazy how obsessed I was over it, but you don’t see it at the time. I’m 20 weeks now and baby is kicking away, so all good. Also my morning sickness didn’t start until after 6 weeks. I remember wishing I had symptoms... that was short lived 😂 hope you start feeling more ‘pregnant’ soon, but honestly there’s days now that I forget for a few hours even that I’m pregnant because I feel absolutely fine - and I already look like I’m 9 months so I don’t know how that happens!

Pix89 · 25/03/2021 07:57

I got 2-3 weeks at 6 weeks. Seriously, try not to worry...like others have said they are very temperamental little devices. I am 8w today and have my 1st midwife appointment so I'm leaving it to the professionals and time. I'm also not 100% sure when I ovulated, I have a rough idea but if I don't know my precise dates.

Allybiscuits · 25/03/2021 16:01

Thank you all, truly it’s given me the kick up the bum to step away from these tests. I haven’t bought any more as I do feel they’re doing more harm than good... I really needed to hear this! I can’t shake the sinking feeling but perhaps that’s normal so early on when there’s no guarantees.. and no real idea what’s going on in there! Don’t think eyeballing the tests everyday is making me feel very positive...

It’s reassuring too to know that people don’t always have symptoms or they arrive later, I guess each person/pregnancy is so unique.

I will keep the post updated as it has been such a horrible worry but I’m (trying) to remember that whatever happens, it’s not in my control, and stressing is the only thing I can control!

Thank you all so so much. It was my first ever post on netmums and I feel so grateful people offered their advice and experience xxx

@Allybiscuits Hi OP just wondering how this turned out for you?

Allybiscuits · 19/01/2022 23:09

Hi @MyloC,

Sorry I realise I didn’t ever update this thread,

I really hope my answer doesn’t distress. Sadly I did go on to miscarry the pregnancy at around 8/9 weeks. I searched the web for reassurance about the clear blue tests and put myself through a lot of misery, worrying and wondering and truthfully, they just aren’t reliable and I saw sooo many mixed outcomes, just as previous posters also pointed out.

Hopefully it will help to know that I’m now 23 weeks pregnant and despite a lot of bleeding in the first trimester, I stayed away from the clear blue tests as I felt they made my anxiety worse!

Hoping things are ok for you x

@Allybiscuits thank you so much for getting back to me.
Sorry it didn't end well for you but so glad to hear of your pregnancy! Congratulations.

I stupidly tested on a clear blue digital last night and got 2-3 weeks despite being 5 + 4 weeks. I am now seriously panicking. Not sure whether to do another after 6 weeks or just leave it and see what happens? I have a scan booked for 8 weeks anyway.
