Pregnancy for the larger woman!

HI, i've just registered with mums net and really to get some support. I'm a first time mum to be and i have to admit i am alot over weight (morbidly Obese).

Really i suppose what i'm looking for is are there other women out there that have mangaged to have perfectly normal pregnancies while carrying extra weight as all my midwives and doctors have scared me a little with statistics on blood pressure problems and need for c-sections.

The pregnancy wasn't excatly planned but i am happy and really want my baby to be healthy just wish people would keep making me feel bad because i'm over weight!!!

I am 20+4 today and have a bmi of 38 I havent put any weight on yet in fact am still 2lbs lighter than at the start!

it is so true that the health authority treat you differently the way I look at is they are spending all this money and i am nmore than happy to see the consultant and have etc scans! I also have GBS!

With my Ds i was the same weight I put on 5 stone having Max being a size 12/14 to begin with and ending up a size 24/26 (which is a whole load more dangarous than being large to begin with! I had to be inducted as ther was low fluid and I am going to request I am induced again due to the GBS I had an epidural and they had real trouble getting it in so this time I am going to pass!

The thing that really gets me more than anything is that although I am a big girl I carry all my weight on my bum and thighs I am flat chested and have never had a big belly but people still think I have just put weight on rather than am pregnant the midwife was in real shock last week she put her hand on my belly and said " oh I can feel baby" !

Would be nice to have a thread on here just for us so we can all moan and tald about our worries must think of a good name if anyone is interested!?!
