Baby movements - shaking in womb?

Hi all

Silly question (I have text my midwife waiting for her to get back) but I've noticed the last week or so that baby is having shaking episodes once or twice a day.

They are definitely not hiccups, kicks or rolls it's a full on shaking episode which makes my whole belly shake for 3-5 seconds. It's like a seizure is the only way I can accurately describe it.

Never experienced this with my first, anyone experienced this or know if it's normal or not?? Almost 38 weeks with second baby x

Hello everyone! So sorry was meaning to update yesterday but never pressed the post button!

Still in hospital and section has been pulled forward to Monday (meant to be friday but they can't fit me in, too many electives already booked).

Borderline pre eclampsia and generally unwell with a bit of a stressed baby so won't be leaving without a baby! Being monitored for hours every day. Steroids given to develop baby's lungs (will be 38+4 when delivered) which slightly worried me thinking will he struggle? But hoping for the best.

Thank you so much for all the kind words ❤️

Just to let you know I had steroids and my boy was born at 37+1 by c section and he was fine, no nicu time. Hope all goes well, you are in the best place for you both 💖

@beckyyl my dd was delivered by section at 38+5, no steroids and she was absolutely fine. No breathing issues, no nicu. Hope all goes well and it's the same for your little one 😊

AnxiousAnnie86 · 25/03/2021 06:29

@Gem176 good luck for Monday lovely, my baby girl came at 37 weeks by c section, no steroids or extra care etc and she was absolutely fine! Weighing a belt by 6.6lb x

AnxiousAnnie86 · 25/03/2021 06:29

Healthy

Thank you so much! It's really reassuring hearing all these, the doctors just worried me giving me the odds of baby needing nicu time. X

Kijaji · 25/03/2021 09:07

I had 34 and 36 week babies and neither of mine needed NICU so I'm sure you baby will be fine OP, you'll probably have to stay in a few days which is the worse part!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 25/03/2021 09:40

@beckyyl I'm sorry I tagged wrong person before, I'm sure baby won't! I have a planned c section this pregnancy for 38 weeks and no mention of anything, they are probably just being overly cautious! X

Metallicalover · 25/03/2021 13:21

Hope everything is ok OP I'm surprised they have gave you steroids as in my trust if your 38 weeks they don't give you any!
I know quite a lot of women who have had c sections at 38 weeks and all babies have been fine and needed no extra care 😊 xx

betterfantasia · 25/03/2021 13:29

38 weeks is nothing to worry about at all, lots of babies decide to be both then!

maturecheddar · 25/03/2021 13:36

Good luck op, my friend had c section at 37 weeks and baby was absolutely fine and didn't need extra attention. Don't worry, everything is going to be ok xx

lockdownconfused · 25/03/2021 15:46

I've had 3 babies just before 38 weeks with no steroids and all have been fine, no breathing issues at all.

LifeIsBusy · 25/03/2021 16:13

@beckyyl Glad you went in, I think I would also have felt silly for calling.

How did the scan go?

beckyyl · 26/03/2021 00:36

Hey everyone firstly thank you to everyone who's checked in that's so kind of you! just to update you -

Baby was tachicardic and turns out I had pre eclampsia so baby was delivered today last minute by emergency c section.

Weighing 8lb 9 at 38 weeks exactly and he's doing perfectly! Xx
