And were you trying the tricks (walking, sex, hot food, RLT, bouncing...etc) ?

38 weeks. Very quick birth. First day of maternity leave

My labour was more long than anything else. I was due on the Sunday 30th august 2015, I was booked in for a sweep originally on the Wednesday, but I started having contractions on the Tuesday so I decided to see if things would progress naturally. They didn't so I ended up having a sweep at 3pm on the Friday (40+5).
I got to the hospital at 9 that evening, was in the birth centre by 10.30, had my waters broken around 2am, then gave birth at 6.58am the Saturday morning (40+6).
It didn't hurt or feel uncomfortable at all and it did help move things along (the head wasn't fully engaged so things wouldn't have progressed on their own).
If I’m honest I was more physically exhausted after 4 days and nights of contractions. I think if I hadn’t been so tired I would have dealt with it better.

42 weeks

weegiemum · 13/03/2021 19:34

39+2, delivered 39+3 (37 hours later). I never went overdue.

MissingTheMoonlight · 13/03/2021 19:35

40+5. Had a curry that evening but I'll never do that again as I had awful vomiting the whole labour- put me off curries for weeks after!

Tiredmum100 · 13/03/2021 19:41

Went into labour 35+6 with dc 1. My Waters had broken at 34 weeks, surprised I didn't go into labour sooner. Other than stopping to help a girl who crashed off the motorway down the embankment with a tree in top of her car the day before I went into labour I didn't do anything. Although whilst waiting for the police etc I thought if the shock of this doesn't get the labour going nothing will.

36+1 for both first and second baby. Was bouncing on my ball from 37 weeks. No sex or spicy food and not much walking to be honest. I swear by the ball bouncing.

Mamabearwhere · 13/03/2021 19:46

Sorry I meant 39+1 not 36

ladygindiva · 13/03/2021 19:55

40+4 just woke up early in pain and she arrived early afternoon.

Roselilly36 · 13/03/2021 20:04

39+6, so the day before DS1 was due, woke in the early hours, started contractions, he was in my arms by lunchtime. I drank raspberry leaf tea two weeks before he was due.

NiceGerbil · 13/03/2021 20:05

Not. Induced 42+2.

I wish I'd known I could refuse she wasn't ready to come!

NiceGerbil · 13/03/2021 20:06

Tried pineapple, grovelling around, spicy food. Not sure about sex can't remember. Probably not!

I think they're all just to distract you tbh :D

fairydustandpixies · 13/03/2021 20:13

Bang on his due date. Went for a wee at 7am, every time I tried to stand up from the loo, water flooded from me. I went straight to maternity, they said I wasn't in labour because I clearly wasn't in pain. I begged them to examine me and I was then told I must have a high pain threshold because I was 4cm dilated. DS1 arrived at 2.40pm that afternoon 🥰

december2020 · 13/03/2021 20:27

Spontaneous labour and gave birth at 36+1
The hospital told me it was a UTI... it wasn't - it was DS.

oohmyback · 13/03/2021 20:32

40+2

I did try all the tricks but the night before we drove to the pub a couple of towns away in our old mini. I think that's what did it tbh, a long ride in an old jalopy! Unfortunately the next morning our proper car broke down so I also had to travel to the hospital in said jalopy in the full throes of labour!

MeadowHay · 13/03/2021 22:32

39+6 and DC was born via instrumental delivery approx 29hrs later on their due date. Didn't try any 'tricks' although had been hand expressing colostrum for a few weeks to have a store and they say that can help start labour.

SunnySideUp2020 · 14/03/2021 11:47

Lots of nice eventful stories 😄
Thank you for sharing!!!

Don't think I'll have spicy food (the way out might be uncomfortable).
Can't be bothered with sex.
And SPD is a pain (literally) so walking loads not an option!

I am left with my ball, my dates and the tea 😅

Also never had a BH contraction so far.
