And were you trying the tricks (walking, sex, hot food, RLT, bouncing...etc) ?

40+4

I walked so, so much. I did a four hour walk when I was 40+2, my husband thought I was insane. I didn't really think about it but I think it was instinctive. Also, my midwife did a membrane sweep and I went into labor that night, so it was probably that.

Didn't go in to natural labor with our 1st. I was induced at 39+3 due to high blood pressure, born at 39+6. Our 2nd I had slow labor, contractions were stop start for a couple of weeks, 1cm dilated at 39+6 and born 40+5. 3rd contractions started 40, born 40+2. Twins were evicted at 38 via elcs as breech. Still undecided if will go elcs of vbac with current, have to decide by 36 weeks (17+4 atm).

Once things started with our 3rd sex really kicked labor up a gear, wish I'd tried it with our 2nd.

40+10 for my first. Had a sweep the day before and DTD that afternoon to see if it helped as I was booked for induction a few days later which I didn't want it to lead to. Had my first contraction 5.30am the morning after and DS was born 6.5hrs later

Hardbackwriter · 13/03/2021 13:11

39+1, and I was doing all the old wives' tales things because I was booked for induction at 40 weeks and was hoping to avoid it. I then did all the same things for DS2 and he didn't come until 40+5, so I definitely think it was luck not any of the things I did for DS1!

KitKatKit · 13/03/2021 13:11

35+3 (facepalm) Grin

Bin85 · 13/03/2021 13:14

One week late

Mintjulia · 13/03/2021 13:20

40+4. Ds arrived 40+6 after a bit of a struggle.

I woke up early Saturday morning with regular twinges in my lower back, Went to hosp Sunday 4pm by which time they were getting seriously uncomfortable and 5 mins apart. Waters broke 7pm DS born Monday afternoon.

I'd been cleaning & walking all week. Smile

LadyWhistledown · 13/03/2021 13:22

36+6 and the day before my maternity leave was due to start! I'm still annoyed I didn't get to do any nesting.

Becstar90 · 13/03/2021 13:27

2 days before due date, didn't do anything to bring it on.

PrincessesRUs · 13/03/2021 13:31

38+3 - not doing anything at all - just woke up, went for a wee and my waters went!

ScarfaceCwaw · 13/03/2021 13:35

Labour started 40 weeks exactly. Born 40+1.

The average for first pregnancies, IIRC, is 40+5. 40+3 for subsequent pregnancies.

DollyParton2 · 13/03/2021 14:27

Bang on due date. Lost mucus plug during shower after a reflexology session to bring in labour. I totally believe it was due to that!

Spaghettiamaretti · 13/03/2021 15:19

36+3 , complete shock!

PickleKid · 13/03/2021 15:26

39+3. Braxton Hicks all 3rd trimester and walked a lot. Drank a few raspberry teas. Think he turned up when he was ready- though glad he wasn't late.

FWIW: Of my 7 NCT (4m, 3f) the boys were early/on time and the girls were on time/late.

One way or another your bub will be out soon enough!

NeverHadANickname · 13/03/2021 15:43

I went into labor at 37+3. I forget how many weeks before I started but I was eating I think dates every day? Also I used my birthing ball a lot because it was comfortable. I had a really good third trimester so was more active than I was in the first and second and we were still having sex but none of that was to start labor. I think the dates were supposed to make things more favorable once things got started, softening the cervix and stuff. My labor lasted about 5 hours though I'm sure that would have been how it was whatever I did.

Mc3209 · 13/03/2021 15:58

39+1, waters broke at 3am. He was born the same day by c section. Since 37 weeks, I was eating dates, bouncing on the ball, drinking 2 cups of raspberry tea a day, and hand expressing colostrum. Don't know if that did anything..

Vinorosso74 · 13/03/2021 16:06

Waters went at 38 weeks, DD was born at 38+3. Midwife had felt the head was low so said to keep exercising and I was walking quite a bit but nothing else!

firstimemamma · 13/03/2021 16:14

41 weeks. The night before I stuffed my face with chocolate and alcohol-free wine with a film. No harm in trying! Grin

Nnovember · 13/03/2021 16:18

I never went in to labour naturally I was induced at 41 + 5 and had an emergency c section the next day

gollymissdolly · 13/03/2021 18:50

40 + 4,went to the toilet where my waters broke(assumed my waters had broken because there was no way my bladder could have held that much liquid).DC1 was born 2 hours later.By the time I got to the hospital I was fully dilated.

Mummyof2Terrors · 13/03/2021 19:02

40+4 but born at 40+5.

I read somewhere that the average is 40+4 with first baby.

Clary sage oil for me on the recommendation of a midwife friend, that or just a coincidence! I'll be trying to again this time though. (First sniff of the stuff 12 hours before first contraction, head wasnt fully engaged beforehand)

cptartapp · 13/03/2021 19:03

40+5. Waters broke on the loo in the middle of the night. Born 24 hours later exactly.

Wannabangbang · 13/03/2021 19:04

42w was induced

Piccalily19 · 13/03/2021 19:08

39 weeks 3 days. Yes i tried it all! Walking was the biggest one I think, but also ball bouncing, raspberry tea, sex, one spicy meal (vile, didn’t do again), something called the miles circuit.
