Early pregnancy scan after 3 miscarriages

A little history, I had a miscarriage in April last year, another one in October (chemical), didn’t have a period all of November, so tested in December and was pregnant again, ended in miscarriage. All of these miscarriages have been 5/6 week mark.

I found out I was pregnant again on February 6th, I am exactly 6 weeks today. I was anxious, so my doctor got me a scan with the EPU which I had on Friday at 5 weeks +4, which I asked him was it to early and he said no. Off I went to that scan and they saw a gestational sac and nothing within the sac. Was told before the scan not to be upset if nothing was found. Which it wasn’t, so was told it was to early and I have another scan this week at 6+4.

I’ve been stressing about it non stop thinking will this be my 4th loss. I feel better within myself this pregnancy, but I’m just sacred. I’m not really having any signs other than sore nipples and I have really chapped lips. But I don’t know if I’m clinging on my signs. I just don’t feel pregnant. I’m also in progesterone pessaries in this pregnancy until 16 weeks.

Has anyone gone through this before and had a good outcome. I’m so dreading the scan on Friday to be told bad news
@MollySxx I just stumbled across this. I'm really sorry you're suffering. I had very similar scenario after a saying scan showed just the sac but no sign of yolk. After further scans they agreed it was a blighted ovum. They tried to induce mc but sac held on and hGC kept rising and let to surgery.
I'm sorry, I know this probably isn't what you are looking for...

Take care love xx
Omg missed your message about the yolk sac. I'm so sorry!! Xxx

MollySxx · 17/03/2021 17:50

@TLxx yolk sac was found at my scan 2 weeks ago, and I was convinced I was having a blighted ovum after the first 2 scans, but I'm pretty sure a yolk sac isn't seen at all if that's the case? Correct me if I'm wrong x

@MollySxx that's right. There was no sign of a yolk sac on mine. They said they don't believe anything ever formed so put it to being a blighted ovum. It won't let me attach the photo, but the sack is completely empty, it's just black.
I'm pregnant again, an early US measured 6+4 with a heartbeat, NHS dating scan on Friday

I really hope your little yolk keeps growing
xxx

I'll be thinking of you @MollySxx

I had a scan last Tuesday showing just a yolk sac (I should have been 6 weeks based on ovulation date) and went back yesterday at 7w expecting a miscarriage to be confirmed and they saw an embryo and a hb.

Sadly mine is still very likely to end in mc because growth is wayyy behind and the heart rate was very slow, but it does prove you can see nothing on a scan one week and a baby a week or two later.

I really hope you see a perfect baby tomorrow xx

@MollySxx been thinking about you sweetheart, hope you’ve had some good news xx

MollySxx · 19/03/2021 11:56

Sadly not giving an update of good news💔 had the scan and I just knew by the ladies face. There was the sac, which hadn't grown, an the yolk. No progress, no baby. So unfortunately today, this is my 4th miscarriage, my 5th loss💔 I needed to go to the toilet before I had the scan and low and behold, there was blood when I wiped. So there was my answer even before the scan.

Wishing you all pregnant ladies the best of luck and happiness💞

I'm so sorry @MollySxx.

lockdownbabyx · 19/03/2021 12:38

@MollySxx I'm not sure if you have had any previous testing or not. But after my 3 losses my doctor said I could be put onto the waiting list for tests, with the pandemic I knew this could be a long wait so I took matters into my own hands this time round. I did alot of research and saw so many positive stories from taking low dose aspirin. It's often prescribed to women who suffer recurrent miscarriages, even when the tests come back clear. I wouldn't ever advise anyone taking it without speaking to your doctor first, however this is what I personally did. I've since told my doctor I was taking it and the EPU and both have said it doesn't hurt to try and won't harm me in anyway. Of course everyone is different but I would look into it and do your own research if I were you. For me, I wanted to try one more cycle before I go down the testing route and was willing to try anything that would potentially prevent yet another miscarriage. It's too early of course to say if it's worked for me, but il be 8 weeks on Sunday and this is the furthest I've ever got without bleeding. Whether that's down to the aspirin, il never know for sure. Xxx

MollySxx · 19/03/2021 13:20

@lockdownbabyx I've had testing yes, all of which came back clear. I was under the miscarriage clinic when I found out I was pregnant again. So I had progesterone, aspirin, high dose folic acid. All those things still haven't prevented this. So I've chosen to have a medical miscarriage and I start that on Monday. I am also allowed to take all tissue ect I pass to the hospital and they will test what they can

Just to add to this thread for future people who find themselves in this situation. I was under recurrent miscarriage care after my 3rd miscarriage. I was tested for sticky blood, thrombophila, thyroid, all fine and clear. I had a pelvis scan which showed lining of my womb all fine. I had functional cysts on my ovaries, which were found not to be polycystic ovaries.

I was on 400mg twice daily progesterone pessaries the moment I found out I was pregnant, also in 150mg aspirin and 5mg folic acid. All of which still haven't prevented another miscarriage

lockdownbabyx · 19/03/2021 13:30

@MollySxx I'm sorry, I didn't realise. I truly hope you are able to find some answers after having the tissue tested. Sending lots of hugs your way xx
