Early pregnancy scan after 3 miscarriages

A little history, I had a miscarriage in April last year, another one in October (chemical), didn’t have a period all of November, so tested in December and was pregnant again, ended in miscarriage. All of these miscarriages have been 5/6 week mark.

I found out I was pregnant again on February 6th, I am exactly 6 weeks today. I was anxious, so my doctor got me a scan with the EPU which I had on Friday at 5 weeks +4, which I asked him was it to early and he said no. Off I went to that scan and they saw a gestational sac and nothing within the sac. Was told before the scan not to be upset if nothing was found. Which it wasn’t, so was told it was to early and I have another scan this week at 6+4.

I’ve been stressing about it non stop thinking will this be my 4th loss. I feel better within myself this pregnancy, but I’m just sacred. I’m not really having any signs other than sore nipples and I have really chapped lips. But I don’t know if I’m clinging on my signs. I just don’t feel pregnant. I’m also in progesterone pessaries in this pregnancy until 16 weeks.

Has anyone gone through this before and had a good outcome. I’m so dreading the scan on Friday to be told bad news

Good luck for tomorrow @MollySxx I hope you manage to get some rest tonight.
Would love to hear how you get on if / when you feel ready to share! Sending so many positive vibes x

Has the doctor mentioned low dose aspirin? Many women swear by it after multiple losses, and it doesn't do any harm, it might be worth thinking about taking it.

I take it, I've taken it for two pregnancies (both followed a loss) because I became convinced my blood was not of optimal consistency. I take 75mg, but I have heard the recommended dose for those with known risk factors is 150mg.

I'm sorry for your losses and good luck with this pregnancy. Flowers

(I'm 30 weeks and at your stage in this pregnancy, I only had chapped lips and sore boobies too....oh and a ravenous hunger but I was a little underweight when I conceived so that will have made my appetite enter overdrive).

MollySxx · 04/03/2021 22:58

@auldmaw thank you so much, I’m bed as we speak with my mind ticking over time.

@ThisMammaCat yes, they’ve proscribed me low dose aspirin and a higher dose folic acid which I pick up tomorrow

Hey Molly, good luck for your scan today. What time is it at?

I’ve had a couple of early losses too, and I’m now on 150mg aspirin (just started taking it by myself over the counter) and progesterone (got it private but now have an nhs prescription for the rest as it was so expensive).

Hope it goes well for you this time. I’m 8 weeks and have been too scared to go for a scan! Xx

MollySxx · 05/03/2021 08:05

@Cafeaulait27 congratulations💓

And it is at 9;45am today, which I much prefer so it’s early and done and not consuming the whole day. Not having a good feeling at all. But we shall see

@MollySxx just want to wish you all the best this morning. I had a mc last July and now 27 weeks pregnant. I hope it all goes well this morning.xxx

treesall · 05/03/2021 09:59

@MollySxx just read this thread and thinking of you this mornjng. Really hope you get good news.

Cafeaulait27 · 05/03/2021 11:06

Hope everything went ok @MollySxx xx

MollySxx · 05/03/2021 11:10

UPDATE!

So had the scan and she saw a yolk sac in the sac this time, so it’s not empty anymore. It was just close to 7mm last week, but now 9mm. The consultant went over my first 2 scans and the HCG bloods I had when I was 4 weeks pregnant and again at 5 weeks and putting all the scans together shows progression. So they don’t know if they’ve just scanned me supper early. Or the pregnancy is going really slow and not reaching its milestones, but he wants to give me a chance. So I’m going back in 2 weeks from now and if nothing has really progressed now there is a yolk sac, then a miscarriage will be diagnosed. So a bit of hope, mixed in with no hope🤷🏼‍♀️x

Oh @MollySxx how frustrating for you to still be in limbo!! I was so wishing you to have a definite answer today. However, development is development so everything crossed!
Have they said that pregnancies can be slow to develop like this at first?
How are you feeling? X

Cafeaulait27 · 05/03/2021 13:24

Sorry that it’s not a definite answer for you, but at least there’s progress.

How many weeks are you now?

Are you on anything like progesterone to help things along? Hope you manage to rest and relax this weekend Xxx

MollySxx · 05/03/2021 13:25

@auldmaw I had a different ultrasound lady today and she was very rush rush. She did the scan the best out of the other 2 ladies I had, but she didn’t show me what she found or anything. It was my partner that sneakily looked on her notes when she turned around and saw “yolk sac?” Written. And he said he was like a little flicker on the scan, because the screen was facing him.

They just said they could of scanned me super early so that’s why they are only seeing what appears to be a yolk sac now. But for 6-7 weeks I’m not showing the milestones there should be. But because of the progression the consultant said he wants to give me 2 weeks break and then come back and give me an answer. So I’m 2 weeks if no more progression of it’s stayed the same, a miscarriage will be diagnosed. And that’s the extent I was told. Just time is key

@Cafeaulait27 I didn’t track ovulation, but my LMP was 11th January, so if you count from then I am 7+4. But they’ve told me that isn’t an accurate count because no one knows when they ovulate 100%.

And I’m on 400mg progesterone twice daily. I’m also taking 150mg aspirin and 5mg folic acid. All of which has been prescribed to me by my miscarriage consultant

Cafeaulait27 · 05/03/2021 13:40

@MollySxx ah ok. I really hope you get good news in the next few weeks, it may be that you’re only just 6 weeks and that’s why there’s just a yolk sac at this stage? Fingers crossed xx

MollySxx · 05/03/2021 14:02

@Cafeaulait27 that’s what they are thinking as I measured 5 weeks last week when I was 6+4, so could just be 11 days out. Which would make perfect sense. But we shall see. 2 weeks sounds long, but I’m glad of the wait to let everything be as it should and get some answers

OP posts:
auldmaw · 05/03/2021 14:02

@MollySxx that's a shame about the ultra sound and not being told any info while you were in there. When I had mine at this stage they showed me it all on the screen and explained what I was looking at.
Hopefully you're just earlier than initially thought. If there's one thing I discovered it's that nothing is an exact science.
Hope the next 2 weeks pass quickly 🤞🏻🤞🏻 x

MollySxx · 05/03/2021 14:25

@auldmaw the lady last week did, which I really appreciated. Every ultrasound tech has been different. Grateful she found a yolk sac though, because I definitely didn’t think anything would come up today. So taking every positive I can.

Could just be I ovulated late, but like I keep saying, we shall see. 2 weeks I can just learn to take everything as it comes. Been through it before, I can do it again and learn from it like I have every loss. Never had a yolk sac in any of my other miscarriages, so it’s progress for me on a personal level

@lockdownbabyx how are you getting on?x

OP posts:
lockdownbabyx · 17/03/2021 16:27

So far so good @MollySxx. Had an early scan at the EPU last week when I was 6+4 and all was well, even saw a little heartbeat ☺️. I'm now 7+3 which is the furthest I've ever got without bleeding 🤞🏼. I have a private scan booked for when I'm 9+5 as I cannot wait until I'm 12 weeks for another scan lol.

How are you getting on? Xx

MollySxx · 17/03/2021 16:35

@lockdownbabyx ahhh so glad to hear🥰

Wish I could report back good news, but currently 2 days left of my 2 week limbo and have a scan on Friday to see if I've had more progression since they found a yolk sac at my scan 2 weeks ago. If all good news I'll just be waiting for my 12 weeks scan, no extras. I can't take the anxiety of it🥺

OP posts:
lockdownbabyx · 17/03/2021 16:38

@MollySxx aw I'm sorry, how awful to be in limbo for that long! How are you feeling in yourself? Xx

MollySxx · 17/03/2021 16:43

@lockdownbabyx it's been torture, many mixed emotions. Upset, negative about the situation, then positive and then crying again. It's been the worst🤦🏼‍♀️

And in my self I feel okay, sore boobs, sick feeling without being sick, had some off and on cramps. But nothing painful or major, no bleeding, no spotting. Nothing at all indicating something is wrong. My tummy is actually rounding and feelings really firm. So I'm hoping and praying it was all just a bit early at the other scans and now there is a yolk sac I'll be back on Friday and have some more good news. Hoping a heartbeat🤞🏼

OP posts:
lockdownbabyx · 17/03/2021 16:45

@MollySxx bless you, I can imagine it must be torture. Not long now.

They're all really positive signs! I have everything crossed for you lovely, I really hope you get to see little ones heartbeat 🤞🏼please keep us updated ☺️ xxx

MollySxx · 17/03/2021 17:07

@lockdownbabyx everything firmly crossed🤞🏼 shall update on Friday x

@MollySxx I just stumbled across this. I'm really sorry you're suffering. I had very similar scenario after a saying scan showed just the sac but no sign of yolk. After further scans they agreed it was a blighted ovum. They tried to induce mc but sac held on and hGC kept rising and let to surgery.
I'm sorry, I know this probably isn't what you are looking for...

Take care love xx
