Accidentally drank alcohol

My virtual baby shower was today. My husband thought he had bought non alcoholic fizz for the shower, so I had a big glass, and it was actually alcoholic. Just feel a bit upset that I drank it - just went straight to my head. What do you guys think?

You and your baby will be totally fine , don’t give it a second thought .

CodenameVillanelle · 13/02/2021 19:51

Nothing will happen.

StealthPolarBear · 13/02/2021 19:52

You'll be fine :) hope it didn't spoil your enjoyment

2typesofjungle · 13/02/2021 19:53

Your husband is stupid, but you are fine, don't worry.

Elsia · 13/02/2021 19:54

Your husband is stupid

Wow. What’s it like to be so perfect?

Blue2021 · 13/02/2021 19:54

Don’t worry OP. You and baby will be absolutely fine. Hope you had a lovely baby shower. X

Mountainpose · 13/02/2021 19:55

Agree, your baby and you will not be affected at all. A daft mistake, try not to worry

MrsJackRackham · 13/02/2021 19:57

My mum went right off whisky when pregnant with me so had to drink gin Smile I'm -mostly- fine. She also smoked like a lum.

Chelyanne · 13/02/2021 19:58

1 glass, probably fine. Nothing you can do about it anyway, except kick your husband lol.

LaceyBetty · 13/02/2021 20:01

The whole bottle and you'd be fine.

BikeRunSki · 13/02/2021 20:01

You’ll be fine, your baby will be fine, you DG won’t do it again! My mil used to drink half a guinesss everyday when she was pg for iron; my DM drank whisky to manage morning sickness!

10 years ago I deliberately had a glass of champagne at a wedding when about 6 months pg. all fine.

Sixtyorforty · 13/02/2021 20:01

Thank you all for your reassurance - I enjoyed the shower just feel a bit cloudy now that I know it was alcohol.

Greenmarmalade · 13/02/2021 20:04

Don’t worry about it for a second! Nothing bad will come of it.

AegonT · 13/02/2021 21:33

It's just one glass and I'm guessing you are well past the first trimester so I wouldn't worry a bit.

AegonT · 13/02/2021 21:36

I had a couple of small glasses of red wine on separate days around Christmas and would probably allow myself one glass of champagne at a wedding or other celebration.

doctorhamster · 13/02/2021 21:39

How do you accidentally buy alcohol Confused

FanOfTheCheese · 13/02/2021 21:40

Absolutely nothing to worry about op- I drank like a fish until I was 8 weeks pregnant. Including a wine tour and a hen party weekender!
My beautiful clever dd is now 9 And excelling in every subject even with my dodgy teaching skills.
Stressing over it will be more harmful so pls don’t give it another thought op

Sixtyorforty · 13/02/2021 22:32

Thank you - you have made me feel better (most of you!) xx

FlamingGreatGalaahs · 14/02/2021 08:25

You will be completely fine.
Congratulations OP FlowersFlowersFlowers

How do you accidentally buy alcohol

You walk to the relevant aisle, refer to the price label or the bottle itself and determine that you believe it to be a non alcoholic bottle of bubbles. You possibly pick up the wrong bottle which is placed incorrectly on the shelf. You then walk to the till. The cashier presses the ‘clearly over 25’ button and doesn’t ask any further questions. You pay and leave.

HTH @doctorhamster

userxx · 14/02/2021 08:40

@ClaudiaWankleman 🤣

I find it much more upsetting the other way around, get the fizz home and realise it's the non alcoholic shite.

Op, you'll be fine, us children of the 70's can confirm that.

Sixtyorforty · 14/02/2021 09:06

@ClaudiaWankleman thank you! I didn’t want to respond to that post and glad you said it for me! X

My mum drank wine throughout her pregnancy with me. I was fine.

Studies show that consistently drinking large amounts of alcohol a week is bad for the baby. There is zero evidence to show that small amounts of alcohol harms the baby.

One accidental glass in your third trimester? I wouldn't give it a second thought.

Teakind · 14/02/2021 10:38

OP, was it one of those low alcohol bottles of fizz? I bought one the other day thinking it was like Shloer but was really surprised to see it was alcoholic when it arrived (online shopping!)

BertieBotts · 14/02/2021 10:42

Is it advised none at all now? When I was pregnant with DS1 it was advised that an occasional small amount was absolutely fine.
