@Warrickdaviesasplates We want to go with a Welsh name. So far on the list we have Aled (worried about him being sung 'Walking in the air' at forever though), Cai, Rhydian, Ioan and Idris.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 23/03/2021 08:11

@Mummy2O a guy at my work is called Aled and I have no idea of the song....never heard of it and don’t think anyone has ever mentioned it to him! I love Welsh and Irish names....my fiancé is called Rhys.

I really liked Darrah for a boy (which is Irish) but he wasn’t a fan so another name we can’t have hahaha!

ElderMillennial · 23/03/2021 08:50

I getting some dry itchy skin on my body, a small patch on my belly and my legs. I use E45 and that helps but I should probably get something for stretch marks.

If your hair needs some TLC how about a mask? I have long curly hair so I treated myself to the garnier ultimate blends banana shampoo and mask last week (I even started a thread on them in S&B!) and have found them to be really good for the price (I got them half price on my supermarket shop).
I found it good as a leave in conditioner too.

Mummy2O · 23/03/2021 08:54

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I love Rhys, but we have already used it. Poor planning on my part there! Grin

@PeanutButterFalcon

Just a little moan from me, need to offload so sorry in advance. Been feeling absolutely terrible lately: tired, aches, out of breath and generally unwell. People are now commenting that I look ill. First baby so thought it was normal pregnancy until then. GP has done bloods and my iron has come back low but not low enough for treatment even though I feel terrible. Hopefully I can get it back up with my diet.
Hey, I'm new to the thread but I spotted your post and wanted to give you some advice my midwife gave me. I said I was feeling tired and run down and she recommended Floradix which is an iron substitute you drink. She said oncea day every second day would be fine just to give you a boost. I had it post partum with my first and although it doesn't taste nice, it does work. You can get it in Boots or other chemists. Hope you feel better soon!
PeanutButterFalcon · 23/03/2021 11:32

@TedLife thank you. I’ll pop into boots on my day off and ask the pharmacist.

We (like everything else) have no names. We can’t agree on anything. I’m more traditional and DH is not so. I have however started shopping and finally have some items.

@Mummy2O Aled is lovely, I defo think you're overthinking the walking in the air thing though as its a pretty common Welsh name generally? I wouldn't expect someone called Sam to have Sam Smith songs sung at him all the time lol. Go for it!

I think me and DH have narrowed it down to 2 names we both like, but he likes one of them more and I like the other one more! Might have to wait and see what she suits more when she's born haha.

isadorapolly · 23/03/2021 11:44

@PeanutButterFalcon have you tried floradix? It’s liquid iron you can put it in juice or a smoothie and it helps with your iron levels. Also if they wont prescribe you any iron tablets you can just buy them anywhere really. Don’t underestimate how rubbish low iron will make you feel, I’ve had it with all of my pregnancies and once you get your iron levels up again you feel so much better. Fingers crossed you get it sorted x

Hardcoresoftie · 24/03/2021 01:10

Due on 24 July with first child, a boy.

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 25/03/2021 08:16

Hey all, just letting you know Tommie Tippee have 30% off sleepwear until the 29th March with a discount code CLOCKCHANGE30 - I’ve just ordered three gro bag/swaddles and instead of paying £70 odd I got them for £50. So just in case anyone is looking. X

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 25/03/2021 08:17

They also do 0.2 tog which might be useful for our summer babies xx

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/03/2021 08:22

Thats a good deal @TiredAlreadyOhDear!

Has anyone been told they need to return to work as of April 1st? Apparently guidance is changing

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 25/03/2021 08:25

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE I’ve been working from home since the start of the pandemic and we were told we can just choose to still WFH if we want to - so I’ll probs stay at home now until after my mat leave. Are you having to go in?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/03/2021 11:47

Its looking likely unless i pull forward my annual leave! I just can't see anything anywhere saying guidance is changing for third trimester

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 25/03/2021 12:07

The gov website still looks the same basically saying work from home if possible after 28 weeks

www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-pregnant-employees/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-pregnant-employees

chloejwx · 25/03/2021 13:14

Hi all, thought I would introduce myself - I am due on the 5th July with my first and he is a boy!

Gave me a little scare yesterday and hadn't felt him move very much, but the midwife found his heartbeat! Why is pregnancy 9 months of pure anxiety 😂

PeanutButterFalcon · 25/03/2021 16:22

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE that may be because shielding stops this month and everyone is expected back in work.

I’ve been working and will continue to except from 28 weeks I get to work in the office instead. It’s if we cannot socially distance and there’s no alternative work.

Does anyone else have a ridiculous amount of discharge? It feels so uncomfortable!

FirstTimeMummy2021 · 25/03/2021 19:48

@thatbasicsnowflake I have also been told the guidance has changed. Was expecting to work from home from 28 weeks (I work in a hospital) but will now be staying at work until I start my maternity leave. I think its because shielding will be stopping, but I haven't seen anything properly yet. My line manager is going to do a risk assessment to make sure what I'm doing is safe but I'm actually pleased to be staying at work.

Thank you @tiredalreadyohdear ! I was hoping to buy some of those so now may be a good time!

Peaplant20 · 25/03/2021 20:35

I still find this really strange @THATbasicSNOWFLAKE . The official guidance for pregnancy has not changed. It still says to wfh from 28 weeks x

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/03/2021 20:41

This is my point @Peaplant20, surely if it was changing from 1st April it should be somewhere online for us to see!

pinkgin8 · 25/03/2021 20:44

Suddenly experiencing an acid burning feeling in my chest, coming and going. Is this heartburn or acid reflux??

Peaplant20 · 25/03/2021 20:45

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE agreed! Fingers crossed 🤞

Mummy2O · 25/03/2021 20:56

@pinkgin8 It does sounds like it I'm afraid. Try some gavascon and see if it helps. If it gets back go and see your doctor.

Warrickdaviesasplates · 25/03/2021 21:09

@pinkgin8 sounds like heartburn to me.

Mine gets worse when I lay down so I always drink a big glass of milk before I go to bed. I'm not sure if it actually helps or just tricks me into thinking I've done something, but could be worth a shot? At least until you can get something proper for it.

Aj1400 · 25/03/2021 21:13

long time lurker- but at 24w thought I'd join in.

I'm a first time mum to be here and while OH and I are excited we are a bit overwhelmed with it all and all the decisions you have to make along the way.
