Hi all i really need your advice/stories,

I am 4.5 weeks pregnant and when i wiped down there i saw 2 tiny spots of blood in the discharge. I get the occasional mild cramps

I have had a previous miscarriage at 6 weeks and a termination of pregnancy at 20 weeks due to fetal abnormalities .

A bit of spotting and cramping is quite common at this early stage.
So long at spotting remains light and only lasts for a couple of days I wouldn't worry. If you get heavy bleeding you should seek help from the GP.
Pregnancy after loss is terrifying, I've done it many times. I wish you the best of luck with this pregnancy and hope you finally get a little bundle of joy at the end.

Thank you very much i know all i can do is wait and see but it's just so scary.

I desperately want this baby

OP posts:
SnooperTrooper12345 · 07/02/2021 14:08

I have had bleeding between 5 and 7 weeks with all of my 4 pregnancies.
Was told it was from the foetus burying deeper

Dhano21 · 07/02/2021 15:01

that's reassuring thank God for that 🙏

i'm 5 weeks pregnant and got this
It's still brown so that's a good sign. That's exactly what I had. As long as it doesn't become bright red and heavy, you should be fine. If you feel worried, ring and check. I called the NHS helpline

Don't worry about the symptoms part. It doesn't mean anything. But as I've said to the OP it can be normal. As long as its not heavy bright red blood but call the helpline for advice if you feel you need to
Dhano21 · 08/02/2021 14:23

@Kayleighb Hey has the brown discharge stopped ? Have you had a ultrasound sound ?

OP posts:
Kayleighb · 08/02/2021 14:26

@Kayleighb I'm so scared i can't stop worrying . I've had a Mc and i've also had to terminate my pregnancy at 20 weeks in the past . i just don't want this to be the start of a miscarriage i'm so fucking scared it's crazy

RunnerGirl123 · 08/02/2021 14:48

Im so sorry for your losses. I had pink and brown spotting at 5w2 for 5 or 6 days. My midwife told me not to worry (despite 2 early miscarriages that started this way) and consultant advised to call EPU (I had early appointments after TFMR at 20 weeks last year). I didn't call the EPU because it was close to Christmas and I didn't think they'd see me for spotting only especially during covid anyway. The spotting stopped and I'm now 13w5 and everything is okay. Hope you have a similar outcome x

Moon12345 · 08/02/2021 14:59

Hi OP, I had exactly this - your photo looks just how mine did when I was around 4 weeks. Mine actually lasted about 5 days but never got red which was a good sign. I ended up having some blood tests done 48 hours apart at the EPU to check my hormone levels were rising (which they were) and then a scan at 5.5 weeks and 8 weeks to check progression. All was good and I’m currently almost 19 weeks pregnant. The doctors/nurses I saw put it down to either an implantation bleed, or old blood leaving my body (it was around the time my next period would have been due). I can’t imagine how scared you must feel since you’ve already been through so much, but try to rest for a few days, monitor any changes and then contact your EPU at least for some blood tests if not a scan. I have to say that my local hospital (Herts) was so amazingly supportive, despite how early on in my pregnancy I was, and were so aware of how daunting those first few weeks can be. You getting the support you need is very important.

Take care and wishing you luck for a healthy pregnancy xx

P.S. to the previous poster with concerns about fading symptoms - I had pretty much no other pregnancy symptoms until around week 7, and even then it was only really tiredness, so try not to worrry about this side of things. Intense symptoms is not the only measure of a healthy pregnancy Smile
@SnooperTrooper12345 Hey when you had brown discharge did it stop? if so after how many days ? did the dr tell you what caused it ?
I had it for about a week. The doctor said it was likely left over from implantation

Kayleighb · 08/02/2021 17:52

Glad you had a good outcome @RunnerGirl123 its so worrying I have had 3 early mcs with my little girl in between the first and second I didn't have any bleeding with her and has strong symptoms so I'm not hopefully after 2 back to back losses

Dhano21 · 08/02/2021 18:00

@Moon12345 I'm so glad to hear that everything is going well I wish I prayed for helpful and safe pregnancy for you.

just to clarify that when you were 4/5 weeks are you discharged looked just like mine in the picture??

at 5 1/2 scan what were the doctors able to see a gestatioo sac and a yolk sac ?

OP posts:
RunnerGirl123 · 08/02/2021 18:01

@Kayleighb I didn't have any symptoms til closer to 6 weeks. Not even sore boobs which has been my telltale symptom in all 4 pregnancies. Just try to remember this is a new pregnancy, and there's a chance it could be okay.

Dhano21 · 08/02/2021 18:02

@Chelyanne @SnooperTrooper12345 @Kayleighb @RunnerGirl123 @Kayleighb @Moon12345 I did have nausea a few days ago and now I don't even have that which really makes me worry

OP posts:
Moon12345 · 08/02/2021 19:47

Hi OP yes my discharge looked exactly like yours in the photo - it was in my knickers and when I wiped. It went very slightly pinker on the 3rd day but stayed brown the rest of the time which I was reassured was a good sign.

Throughout this pregnancy my symptoms have generally been quite light, and they have come and gone. I didn’t get sore boobs until week 7 or 8, and this only really lasted a week at the most - not had it since! I’ve never had sickness just a bit of nausea when I’ve got too hungry but nothing intense which at first I worried meant something wrong but honestly, now I just count myself lucky!

On my scan at 5.5 yes I believe they saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac - no heartbeat though. I didn’t ask too many questions as I was just relieved to see something, and was reassured by the sonographer it was exactly what she expected to see for that gestation. At 8 weeks (which was exactly 2 weeks later, so I’d made up a few extra days), I saw a heartbeat. Both were internal scans. At 12 weeks baby was wriggling around and standing on its head!

Lots of prayers and positive thoughts to you, and anyone experiencing similar that you have a healthy pregnancy and a happy baby at the end of it xx
