Tens machine recommendations

I'm 11 weeks with my second baby. First labour I used a Tens machine borrowed from a midwife. I can't remember what make it was and I'm not in touch with her any more.

I'd like to use a Tens for labour this time. Can anyone recommend a particular make? Is it better to hire a more expensive one, or buy a cheaper one?

Not planning more kids so happy to rent.

Thanks!

I rented one from Mothercare - Elle TENS maternity for £27.50 in 2017.

It was good, had a boost button which I hammered when my contracts were at peak haha

Contractions*

They used to hire them at boots but now they're selling the for the same price that hire was. I haven't used mine yet but I bought one from the boots tens hire website for £32 - it's got the settings you'd need (like the boost button for contractions so fingers crossed it's good) 🤞

This one was incredible and really helped me through my 60 hour labour! 😣 Very fast delivery and simple to return. Great customer service too.

Thanks, I saw the Boots one wasn't expensive so good to know it's decent!

"Very fast delivery" jellycat - shame that was the tens not the baby 😅

I hired one from Birthease.co.uk, not sure of the brand but it also has a boost function. You can place the order at any time, put in your due date and they post it out to you at 36 weeks, then you just send back for free after baby is born.

They're probably all much the same. I bought a mamatens from boots (same price as hiring their own brand one and no need to worry about posting it back while you've got a newborn to deal with). Had various modes and a boost button.

@PotatoesPastaAndBread wish it did speed up baby delivery too! 😂

I used this one from Boots

BL89 · 29/01/2021 22:45

@SpamIAm that's the one I have - how did you find it? I'm a ftm and due in a few weeks so hoping it works a treat (I know everyone is different but would love to hear your experience)

justasmalltownmum · 29/01/2021 22:47

Rented from boots maternity (online).

@BL89 Would definitely recommend Smile wasn't much use once things really got going (although I'd abandoned it by then and hadn't turned it up to anywhere near the highest level) but was a godsend during the earlier stages. I accidentally left it on boost after one contraction and managed to get an hours sleep 😂

BL89 · 30/01/2021 10:33

@SpamIAm I'm pleased it helped - what a happy accident that you managed to get some sleep 😂😂😂
