Bleeding at 10 Weeks - terrified

MintGreenLife · 06/01/2021 15:20

I posted yesterday as I had some light pink spotting. Spotting stopped and thought all was OK. Went to the toilet about an hour ago and have started bleeding - is red blood with some very small clots. EPU won’t see me because of Covid as they are trying to limit the number of people that come in. Has anyone had the same and everything turned out OK?! I’m obviously very upset and worried. Thanks x

@Daffodil21 I will, will update you tomorrow, really hope they get me in before the end of the day!

@Gamechanger2019 just spotting, seems to come on randomly and then stop again fairly promptly x

I am sending you lots of positivity!

Hi OP so sorry you're going through this. Just wanted to say, I went through something very similar to what you describe (and so did at least one other person I know) and it turned out fine. Apparently it's very common to have moderate bleeding during the first trimester, but bizarrely it's not much talked about (everyone tells you about morning sickness and cravings, but I never experienced either of those!) I was told it probably stop by about 18 weeks and it did. All fine, no issues after that. I very much hope that it's the same for you. Good luck.

I had a red bleed that I needed a pad for at 10 weeks. iVF first baby and I was terrified.
I was scanned the next morning and saw him kicking. He's now a big strapping 21 year old.

I bled each month every four weeks after week 10. So I'm assuming it was something hormonal that wasn't suppressed. It happened with my next pregnancy too but not as much blood.

Wishing you all the best. Try to stay calm if you can. Meditate and focus on being calm.

From what I can gather over the years it's not uncommon to bleed around week 10.

MintGreenLife · 07/01/2021 22:06

@LaTomatina @planningaheadtoday thanks so much for sharing your experiences, makes me feel so much better to know others have been through the same and it turned out OK. My midwife is going to push EPU to see me tomorrow, so hopefully they do. If not I’ve booked a private scan for Monday morning as a backup, as don’t think I can keep going like this not knowing what’s going on x

EPU have finally agreed to see me - got an appointment at 10.20am tomorrow, going to be very nervous between now and then! My spotting stopped by the time I went to bed last night, but started again at 4am and have had a little more this morning :(

Daffodil21 · 08/01/2021 10:52

@MintGreenLife so glad they are finally seeing you. Why they couldn't have done that days ago I don't know. Glad it's in the morning so you're not hanging around waiting all day. Take it easy in the meantime ❤️

Gamechanger2019 · 08/01/2021 10:58

@MintGreenLife so pleased you have an apt. As @Daffodil21 said rest up mrs, and best of luck xx

MintGreenLife · 08/01/2021 11:24

@Daffodil21 @Gamechanger2019 thanks so much both. Will let you know how I get on x

Thinking of you this morning @MintGreenLife hope all is well Daffodil

MintGreenLife · 09/01/2021 11:21

@Daffodil21 thanks so much 💕 Everything is absolutely fine!! I saw the baby kicking and wriggling loads. I’m measuring ahead now at 10 weeks and 6 days, whereas I should have been 10 weeks and 2 days, so the baby is growing really well and has a nice strong heartbeat. They can’t see a cause for the bleeding at all. I have an appointment with the doctor now to discus. I’m so relieved!!! X

@MintGreenLife amazing news!!!!! I'm so so pleased for you!!!!!! Have been hanging around here in hope for you!

MintGreenLife · 09/01/2021 11:26

@Daffodil21 thanks so much, honestly couldn’t feel happier!! You’ll have to keep in touch and let me know how you’re getting on 💕

Daffodil21 · 09/01/2021 11:33

@MintGreenLife I will do, you too! I'm starting to work myself up a bit wondering if it's still ok so I've booked myself a private scan tomorrow. I hate scans 😩 but I have to know either way

MintGreenLife · 09/01/2021 11:35

@Daffodil21 oh that’s good as not long a wait now! Although I found yesterday so painful, just wishing the day away wanting it to be time for the scan. You’ll have to let me know how you get on 💕 when was your last scan?

Cotswoldmama · 09/01/2021 11:40

I'm glad everything is ok. I had a bleed at 20 weeks it was more of a sudden gush after standing up after getting up from a nap. It was quite a lot of blood so I was really frightened. They did a scan and everything was fine and they took swabs and it turned out I had thrush. I had no symptoms at all but was treated and all was fine.

Daffodil21 · 09/01/2021 11:41

@MintGreenLife yeah I'm going to be the same tomorrow. It's mid afternoon but it's over an hours drive away. My last one was only NYE, and I have another NHS one booked for 20th, so I know it probably sounds ridiculous to be booking a private one now but I've already worked myself up and I'm stressing about whether it's ok or not that I just need to know. I've never had a pregnancy last more than a few days after a scan either

MintGreenLife · 09/01/2021 11:49

@Cotswoldmama it’s terrifying when you’re body does something so unexpected, it’s the last thing you expect when pregnant! The relief I felt seeing baby was like nothing else x

MintGreenLife · 09/01/2021 11:51

@Daffodil21 I think it’s fine if it helps your anxiety. Sounds like this little one is doing well so far so hopefully your scan will put your mind at ease a little tomorrow until the next. My 12 week scan is just under 2 weeks away now x

Daffodil21 · 09/01/2021 12:00

@MintGreenLife I hope so, I'll report back tomorrow 😩

So so thrilled for you!

littleeggcup · 09/01/2021 13:08

So glad to see this today ❤️

MintGreenLife · 09/01/2021 13:12

@Daffodil21 please do 💕

@littleeggcup thanks so much ☺️

I saw the GP afterwards who had a look at my cervix for any signs of the bleeding. Turns out I have a polyp. Not sure whether to be worried about this!

OP posts:
littleeggcup · 09/01/2021 15:06

I don't think so? Might be similar to what I have with the cervical erosion?

I have a scan today at 4.45pm as my spotting has got heavier and I'm panicking. Booked it privately as just can't wait until next week- my anxiety is through the roof xx

leftitlate37 · 09/01/2021 19:09

remember u from another thread @MintGreenLife - so glad to hear all this resolved and u got to see a wiggly baby on screen, that must be such a relief. sounds an ordeal to go thru to get there though - how awful!
your thread is giving me some hope. after a MMC in oct we are pregnant again, and nearly 6 weeks - but got some cramping (it had stopped for a while after some cramps in early days) but just went to toilet and had some pinkish discharge so am soooo worried :(
@littleeggcup hope your scan this arvo went ok?
@Daffodil21 good luck with your scan tomorrow too.
feel like if im not calling EPU tomorrow itll be a call for a private scan in the week. jeez being pregnant or trying to get pregnant is the most anxious nerve wracking time :(

MintGreenLife · 09/01/2021 20:21

@littleeggcup how did it go?! A polyp is a small growth but not the same as cervical erosion, think they are quite common, two of my friends have had them. I think it can cause some complications with blood loss during birth, will have to see what the specialist says.

@leftitlate37 I know it’s easier said than done but please try not to panic, there are so many reasons for spotting in early pregnancy. I was told today it can happen for no reason at all, and happens in one in four pregnancies. I personally would get it checked out by EPU if I were you - had I gone for a private scan they wouldn’t have looked any further into the cause, and I wouldn’t have known it’s because I have a polyp, which I think will probably need to be managed x
