Hi everyone, thought this would be the best place for this as most will have had a bfp recently.

We have been ttc for 10 months now with no luck. We are going to give it 3 more months before looking into investigations etc so I wanted to give us both the best chance possible, what would you say made the difference the month you got your bfp?

I think I was ovulating sooner than I thought, I always have a bit of spotting after my period so had been waiting for CD 9 or so to start trying. The month we conceived we started trying a little earlier and sure enough my dates are well ahead of LMP estimated Smile

RMarieClaire · 02/01/2021 13:09

I basically did opks every day, even after my surge. This time I got 3 surges, with the last one being when I ovulated (confirmed with bbt). If I'd not kept taking it and dtd, I'd have misssed it.

First time around I also had a blood test at 5 months to confirm ovulation - I would ask for this if you can. Doesn't need to be 12 months.

Bleepers · 02/01/2021 13:22

Sex every other day rather than every day x

sarahb083 · 02/01/2021 13:31

OPKs never worked for me. I tracked my temperature and realised I ovulate quite late in the month. The month I got pregnant I was less stressed than normal and exercising more, but I'm not sure if that was just coincidence.

Luckyelephant1 · 02/01/2021 13:50

OPK and SMEP method x

Jamill87 · 02/01/2021 13:56

I was using the cheap strip opks but haven't for the last few cycles so maybe I should do them again.

We tend to dtd every other day for the first few weeks then a bit less often, I always think I will of ovulated by then away but will try and keep the every other day up all month, its difficult as dp is much more relaxed over it so I don't want it to become a chore. Will have a look at SMEP method as not heard of that.

Did anyone use preseed? The reviews look really good, tmi but a bit worried about extra fluid as always enough Blush

DollyParton2 · 02/01/2021 14:46

I swear by Conceive Plus OP- it’s like preseed.

Use good quality OPKs it’s worth investing in the digital ones, the cheapo ones were useless for me.
DTD every day you get smiley, twice on first day & also day after smiley too.

Are you taking - Ubiquinol, Soy Isoflavones, Evening Primrose?

If you cycles are at all irregular also take Angus cactus.

MimiDaisy11 · 02/01/2021 14:47

I used the Clearblue ovulation tester and had sex every second day when it was the flashing smiling face (moderate chance) and on the day it had the solid smiley face (high chance).

Also afterwards I lay for around 15 minutes.

FTM91 · 02/01/2021 14:50

Just came on to say we used presseed. It just provides the right type of environment for the sperm to swim through so more likely it will get to the egg. Basically even if it doesn't work it won't make you less likely to conceive to no harm in trying. Use a little less than they advise as a little goes a long way!! I also would advise putting it in around 15-20 mins before you expect to be DTD because it can be a mid of a mood killer Grin

Glera · 02/01/2021 14:51

The month we stopped trying (because work was hectic and we agreed to remove extra pressure) was the month we conceived. It was month 11.

My biggest tip, stop 'trying'

Iknewyouwerewaitingforme · 02/01/2021 14:56

Also Conceive Plus for us & similar sex timings to DollyParton! Then upside down cycling in bed/ waiting 10 min after.

Regulating cycle as much as possible/ improving egg quality with supplements.

I know some people say it’s the month they stopped trying but to me this is more often a rarer fluke... definitely chill & relax as much as possibly but I would never recommend not really going for it every month.

Aubergina · 02/01/2021 15:01

A low sugar diet worked for us: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.medicalnewstoday.com/amp/articles/320948

JLM1008 · 02/01/2021 15:04

We had a mini break away around ovulation time and just had sex when we felt like it rather than every day. I also laid on the bed for a good 30 mins after sex. I didn’t track ovulation other than by using the Flo app to track my period. My periods are every 28/29 days so that helped me pinpoint when I was ovulating. I do think we are quite lucky though because we conceived all 3 children within 1-2 months. I hope you get your bfp soon x

gypsywater · 02/01/2021 15:05

Defo switch to Clearblue OPKs

Fairywings123 · 02/01/2021 15:10

I relaxed this time round and had sex as and when we felt like it (often) I stopped trying and it happened, plus like one of the OPs said I layed for a good 20 mins or so on the bed after, hope you get your BFP soon!!! x

gypsywater · 02/01/2021 15:13

How is having lots of sex "not trying" though?! I genuinely dont understand this. To me lots of sex is most definitely "trying"?!

gooseygander88 · 02/01/2021 15:24

With my first I tried this supplement thing from Holland and Barrett called Maca, after reading advice on here I went for it and within my first month of taking it I conceived. Whether it was a fluke I don't know but it could of helped. We also used conceive plus during that time, yet again who knows whether it helped or not but there's no harm in trying. Good luck in the rest of your journey xx

Luckyelephant1 · 02/01/2021 15:38

@Luckyelephant1

OPK and SMEP method x
Oh just to add to my post I also almost completely cut out caffeine, previously I was having 3 to 4 coffees/teas a day. Switched to decaf and a month or so later we conceived.
ShireMama · 02/01/2021 15:49

With my first it took us 4 months, I used preseed and lay on the bed afterwards,. I found neither of these worked. The month we conceived I took benylin for the guaifenesin. I also tracked ovulation with clearblue ovulation sticks for months! This time I didn't do anything other than know when I was ovulating by using the clearblue sticks, and we dtd 2 days before ovulation.

lucymagoo · 02/01/2021 16:01

I agree @gypsywater I found the advice "stop trying" infuriating when I was TTC 😂

ALew15 · 02/01/2021 16:22

Clearblue OPKs for the first 2 months and on the third we used the OPKs and introduced Preseed. Worked for us.

Brobbles · 02/01/2021 16:43

I think I was always ovulating later in the month than I thought and than the Flo app was telling me. We weren’t DTD very often by CD21 and this was actually when I was ovulating, on the month that we did it more later on my cycle I got pregnant.

Gamechanger2019 · 02/01/2021 17:07

Clear blue ovulation tracking, I was ovulating earlier than I realised, doing the deed every other day from day 8 and preseed did the trick this time around for us after 6 months. Good luck xxx

Bailsgd · 02/01/2021 17:10

Sorry if tmi for some but when you have fun the one that did it for us was when we totally forgot about ttc we had spent the day messing around acting like big kids and ended up making a little kid

Good luck
