@Babyhope98 he's sick after feeds, hiccups, very windy bum, fussy on the bottle as in he's crying for milk but as soon as it hits his throat he's screaming & pushing it away, cries when on his back, arches his back.

I did try him on aptamil anti reflux milk a few weeks back which really helped until he just outright refused to drink it, it is very thick.

Pinktruffle · 04/01/2021 15:43

I'm another one who's baby loves to pee during a nappy change, I'm getting better at spotting when he is going to do it (only really possible with a boy) and catching it all on the nappy rather than getting a pee shower for myself, his clothes and often our bed!

Has anyone's little ones had their immunizations yet? Mine is booked for next week and I'm starting to get a bit nervous about it. I've got some Calpol ready for him as I'm expecting for him to feel unwell afterwards. I hated watching him have the heel prick test so God knows how I'll feel with the injections! He had his BCG vaccine when he was a day old but barely batted an eyelid at that, I'm guessing he was too little to notice, he was too busy peeing on the midwife.

Kj1010 · 04/01/2021 15:51

We arent immunising our lo due to 2 family members being vaccine damaged but none of ours have had the injections but if I did I wud have to have the oh go in as I really dont think I could handle the screaming etc makes me feel very bad when he crys and is upset

Kj1010 · 04/01/2021 15:55

Anyone else still waiting to register their babys I for love nor money could not get a appointment at first very very busy etc then finally got one for the 11th February which he will be like 2 1/2 months old I dont see why they couldn't just do it via email and zoom where you email your passports birth certificates etc then fill in like I had to for babys birth certificate name of baby etc then they send it out in post would be a lot easier and safer during this pandemic I think

MaverickDanger · 04/01/2021 16:49

Thanks @Snowwhite2020 - I went to the breastfeeding clinic today to check out my latch and get some advice. Sod’s law, he ended up having a decent feed there, but think a lot of that was to do with the chair being a lot more supportive.

She just thinks I’m engorged but to keep an eye on things. I feel very lucky that we have this clinic on the doorstep to pop into whenever we want!

Snowwhite2020 · 04/01/2021 18:13

That sounds good @MaverickDanger. I ho you doesn’t turn into mastitis for you- it’s really not nice!

@kkr168 my LO has many of these symptoms too and is increasingly upset and restless all day and night with it. I’m strongly considering phoning GP and discussing infant gaviscon- please let us know if it helps!

Has anyone else used it with their LO and any positive reviews? I know it can lead to constipation.

The other possibility in my case is that the mastitis antibiotics have upset my babies tummy- they are strong- but I have needed to take them or that would have been the end of my breastfeeding journey as was in so much pain... managed to get back to a comfortable place now and get the milk supply back up but that’s a week on and after a fair bit of struggle!

EithneBlue · 04/01/2021 19:09

@Kj1010 - the earliest appointment we could get to register the birth was for 23rd Feb - he will be almost 3 months old!

@Pinktruffle - Having seen my son poked and prodded and subjected to all sorts of medical procedures I've learned that babies have short memories: they'll scream the place down and 5 minutes later have forgotten all about it (or have forgotten why they are screaming). The experience is much worse for you as a parent. Baby Calpol can't hurt but don't worry too much - he'll be fine :-)

In other news, having been peed on twice today: HOW DO YOU KNOW?!

viixie · 04/01/2021 19:26

Just joining in the new thread, another one exhausted here. We are day 14 today and breastfeeding is such a commitment 💤

peachypetite · 04/01/2021 19:43

We got an appointment really easy to register! Have you all had your six week checks? I’m waiting for someone to call me to book it in, apparently that’s how it works at my surgery. I hope they book us in soon. I am concerned she hasn’t been weighed for a while.

lc86 · 04/01/2021 20:03

@EithneBlue their little willy stands up a bit when they are about to wee, well my lo does anyway 🙊

My lo has been on gaviscon infant for a few days, still being a bit sick but nowhere near as much on the bottles he has it in. Only thing is they can only have it in 6 bottles a day, so some bottles that are without it he is still really sicky

lc86 · 04/01/2021 20:04

@Snowwhite2020 my lo definitely doesn't poo as much since being on it which I don't like

Kj1010 · 04/01/2021 20:15

Can I ask the mums who have vaccinated there babies how many injections did they have on the first dose ? Is it 1 injection then a separate for meningitis so 2 altogether or more

Babyhope98 · 04/01/2021 20:29

Tried infacol today it has made her much worse with wind, so back onto the gripe water she’s been calmer since I’ve gave that. Going to try the infant gaviscon too as it’s been horrible seeing her in pain hopefully she’ll settle tonight

Kj1010 · 04/01/2021 20:37

@peachypetite I havent had 6 week appointment yet was told I would get invite but my lo only just 4 weeks today I e been weighing him through my scales I stand on then go back on with him and subtract we done it last week me my oh and son and we where all 10lb heavier then before we weighed him with us so we are taking it as he was 10lb in weight I know not a definite but better than nothing

Pinktruffle · 04/01/2021 20:47

@EithneBlue what @lc86 said, his willy tends to stand up a bit son8 can tell it's about to happen. DH has another trick, he usually blow some cold air on to him and then cover him back up with the old nappy and he will wee - I'm guessing it's from being cold. Thank you for the reassurance regarding the injections, I'll try and remind myself of your words when I'm at the doctors.

Which 6 week check are you guys on about? I haven't had one and just have appointment for his injections lined up. I've not heard from the midwife or health visitor since my LO was a week old.

lc86 · 04/01/2021 20:54

@Pinktruffle I have hv coming out when he is 6 weeks old just to check him over and check we are all ok. This used to be at the drs but I'm guessing it's different because of covid. I'm dreading his injections! Especially as the new meningitis one is known to give them a temperature, hv told me to give him calpol for a few days after! I keep telling myself they are to protect him long term but doesn't help when he will be crying 😔

jalu47 · 04/01/2021 21:25

Had a bit of a meltdown at another lockdown. Totally agree it's needed but just so sad that no one is able to meet my 4 week old - he'll be crawling by the time he's met his grandparents and aunties 😭 Anyone else struggling with the current situation?

My recovery from c section and sepsis also continues to rumble on as my bloods are still abnormal and have to have a liver scan tomorrow - really don't want to go back to the hospital but don't really have a choice.

lc86 · 04/01/2021 21:36

@jalu47 it really can't help where you don't feel well in yourself either 😔.. I haven't really felt like going anywhere the last few weeks and not bothered me too much but now I'm starting to feel better in myself I'm really frustrated with not being able to see people and not being able to go anywhere, even things like popping to town to buy some new 'big size non maternity' clothes for now. It's so sad that family and friends are missing out on our babies. Also having my other two children home all the time with the schools closed is hard work!! I agree it's needed, but doesn't help us feel any better about it does it 😩 xx

Pinktruffle · 04/01/2021 23:02

Thanks for the info @peachypetite and @lc86. Yet another thing that has not happened for me that was supposed to. I'll ring the GP's tomorrow and see what they say.

lucyFTM · 05/01/2021 07:12

Sorry for anyone reading this that isn't getting much sleep 🙈
My girl is 5 weeks old tomorrow & last night fed at 9pm & still hasn't woken up wanting her next feed! So going on for 10hrs. She's stirred a few times but gone straight back to sleep. In the day she feeds every 3 hrs & doesn't sleep much.
Should I be waking her up?

danielasummer · 05/01/2021 07:56

@lucyFTM I don't know if this helps as my little girl is 3 weeks and 5 days but my lactation consultant has said she needs to feed at least 8-12 times in a 24 hours period and to wake her in the night it she goes more than 6 hours

OP posts:
Snowwhite2020 · 05/01/2021 09:33

@lucyFTM I would judge it based upon nappies- are you getting plenty of wet and dirty nappies?

I have to say I’d be inclined to wake LO after anything more than about 6 hours for hydration but I’ve had nothing close to that before!

Hopefully for you you just have a great wee sleeper!

lucyFTM · 05/01/2021 16:08

@Snowwhite2020 yeah plenty of wet & dirty nappies. I have just started giving her gripe water so maybe that's got something to do with it. She's been fine today & feeding well so I'll just enjoy the rest while I can!

Babyhope98 · 05/01/2021 16:25

@Asianchick6693 just reading back over your post about reflux sounds the same as my baby. How many times a day do you give the gaviscon just with the bottle at night? I tried to give it to her with some water as I am just breastfeeding but she screams. So may just give a bottle at night like you are if that has helped
