BLOOD in mucus - should I panic?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 23/10/2007 23:32

Just been to the toilet and wiped and in the mucus there was deffo blood. I was worried sick yesterday as had a feeling something was wrong (metal taste in mouth had gone, no sick feelings or anything, didn't feel pregnant). Now I have a slight dull ache like a period and waiting to see if any proper bleeding starts. I'm so worried. I think I'm about 5/6 weeks so not far gone but having gone through a mc in the past, I can't help but get worked up!

Anyone had this and been ok?

That might be an implantation bleed, but your best bet would be to put a pad on, see how it goes, and ring your nearest EPU for advioce

spookthief · 23/10/2007 23:43

Yes I have had this at the same stage, and was ok.

Get your GP to refer you to the local EPAU tomorrow though, hopefully to set your mind at rest.

QuootieSpookypie · 23/10/2007 23:44

About the same time I had a little bleed - what colour was it? Mine was an implantation bleed.

colditz · 23/10/2007 23:46

Oh PS I had heavy bleeds with both my children, all the way through.

Magdelanian · 23/10/2007 23:51

Dont worry, just get checked out tomorrow. I had this at about 8 weeks. No problem.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 23/10/2007 23:57

Oh....relief (well, hope!). It was darker in colour to when I mc'd in past (that started with bright red spotting). I've got the Dr's tomorrow at 4.20pm as I wanted to see if I could have an early scan as paranoid of it going wrong again, now I'll tell her this has happened. I had discoloured discharge yesterday but nothing too obvcious, this time was definite! I thought implantation bleeds were earlier? I had a strong BFP a week ago. If you can get it this late then I have hope.

Thanks for replying so late, I'm in bits and poor dh is happy for me to have laptop in bed as he wants to help, just doesn't know how to himself!

No, mine was at about 5 weeks. Depends on how long your cycle is too.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 24/10/2007 00:02

That's reassuring - I've no idea about cycles as came off the pill and had 32 day cycle then 25 day cycle then this time tested on CD30 (last Tuesday) and BFP. So that makes me CD37 today. God, I hope it's just something like that - I hate all this worry! I was in a state yesterday due to what I felt was 'intuition'.

Hope little bean is ok - wish us luck!

Well woken up with slight cramping down there and when I wipe it's pinkish blood but nothing flowing yet.

Bellie · 24/10/2007 07:55

ooh looney hoping everything is ok for you. Are you going to see if you can get an earlier appointment rather than worrying all day?

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 24/10/2007 07:57

I might phone the Dr's - this is my worry, that I can't stop thinking about it and it's still 8 and half hours away!

OP posts:
Bellie · 24/10/2007 08:04

get yourself and emergency appointment and go - there is no point spending the next 8 hours on the loo wiping and worrying!

Bellie · 24/10/2007 08:04

(((hugs))) for you too

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 24/10/2007 08:10

Thanks Bellie - I'm looking for EPU number but can't find it - will phone Dr's when they open! When I MC'd before ds, they were rubbish and I had to wait a week and a half with a threatened MC, then when it happened on a Friday afternoon, Dr on the phone said they can't do anything and I just had to wait over the weekend. Ended up going into hospital on the Monday as the bleeding was so bad and they arranged ERPC.

Wish me luck that they don't treat me like that again!

Bellie · 24/10/2007 08:13

fingers crossed - but you will insist this time won't you!! I know how you feel and would never let myself just be told that I would just have to wait again.

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 24/10/2007 08:13

No way, I will deffo insist!!! I just hate the way they treat you, that's all!!

Update:

Phoned Dr's at 8.30am to get MY Dr to call me
Called within few mins
Took very seriously and shocked me with blood test results (I only had it done yesterday morning) - 43 days pg so last period must have been implantation
Explained and she said to treat as another threatened MC - no sex, rest etc. and went to phone hospital
Phoned back few mins ago - booked in for scan at 9.30 on Fri, letter all ready for collection.

I LOVE my Dr....she so understands! It helps just knowing that I'm being taken seriously. I explained that before any evidence, I had a bad 'feeling' and she took all that seriously too!!

Now I've just got to wait!

good news but will still keep my fingers crossed for you xx

ClaphamLauren · 24/10/2007 11:49

Looney - from six weeks through to about thirteen weeks I had bleeding, brown/pink but no bright red stuff. Mine was caused by a haematoma (bruise type big pool of blood) beneath the pregnancy. Apparently a very common cause of bleeding and not too much to worry about, however, I insisted upon weekly scans. Now 21 weeks and pregnancy going well and no bleeding since.

Fingers crossed yours is just some of the unexplained bleeding/haematoma that can occur with no negative repercussions.

Good luck!

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 24/10/2007 11:58

Bellie - thanks

ClaphamLauren - oh...that's reassuring! I haven't had any more bleeding, just the bad 'feeling' that something isn't right - that started on Monday before I had any blood but hopefully I'm just being paranoid due to previous mc!

Bellie · 25/10/2007 12:46

how are things today looney? thinking of you

bloodsuckingLOONEY · 25/10/2007 15:30

Bellie - thanks for thinking of me Well, I had more bleeding last night the nothing then a tiny bit this morning. Seems worse after number 2's (sorry tmi). I was pretty stressed last night (long story but I have a big thread in Childminding section and a BBC reporter wanted to come and interview me this morning and air it Friday - I did explain it was bad timing but somehow got roped into agreeing - then later I cancelled and soooo glad I did. It was just the wrong time to be doing something big like that, I wasn't ready for it with all this going on!!!

I've got my scan tomorrow and picked up my letter from the Dr's. They make my EDD different to what I had worked out, got it as 16th June and also have 10th September down as LMP - last period was actually on 17th September, on 10th September I was CD19! Oh well....this I presume means I either ovulate at a funny time, there's more than 1 which is making me appear further gone or I am further gone but hormone levels are dropping as a problem. Anyway, not that long to wait so I'll just ask the questions then.

When you said about Childminding i thought it must be you but you never know

I know no matter what anyone says the whole it will be ok! just doesnt wash when your in that situation I am still checking everytime I wipe! and think i will worry for weeks am even booking a 16 week private scan to see the bud just in case! Can you remember the same thing also happened to be right at the beginning pink when I wiped and i had scans at 5 weeks and when at 7 weeks. just to warn you the scan will be an internal one no one warned me and i was like oh god when it came to it - its nice to be prepared! i would say they can tell your further along in the blood test because of the amount of hormones they found which can only be a good sign

Loads of luck for tomorrow and do try and have a nice evening x
