Was your second baby heavier than your first?

My first was a tiny baby so I've bought tiny baby clothes and first size clothes. But my notes predict this baby will be a bit heavier. Luckily I've only bought 3 sleep suits and a pack of vests. It's just about what to take to the hospital. The less I take the less I have to carry with me...last time...even though I packed my bags... hubby didn't know where everything was and obviously after Labour I just gave up...

1stDD 10lbs 14oz. 42 weeks
2ndDD 10lbs 7 oz 39+5
3rdDS 11lbs 8oz. 38+5

smismas · 18/12/2020 13:37

Yes but only by 2oz

BiBabbles · 18/12/2020 13:37

Very slightly - 7lb7 to 7lb9. Third was slightly bigger still at 7lb10

Then 4th came out at 9lb1 Confused with an enlarged placenta as well (no known medical cause). Poor boy's shoulder got stuck for a bit and his head was like 98% or something like that - it was as if I wasn't already convinced he'd be my last that I needed extra convincing Grin. He was too big for the newborn outfit his siblings wore.

Sceptre86 · 18/12/2020 13:40

Yes, first was 5lb 10oz but dropped to 5lb and was in tiny baby for a long time. Ds was 8lb 10oz and in newborn he couldn't stretch his legs so I put him into 0-3 straight away.

mummax3 · 18/12/2020 13:47

My first 2 were 6lbs13 and number 3 was 2 weeks early and 6lbs14, I knew she would have been my heaviest if 40 weeks xx

Tempusfudgeit · 18/12/2020 13:51

7lbs 9oz at 42 weeks
8lbs 6oz at 39 weeks
6lbs 14ozs at 37 weeks

The third is now 12 months old and bigger than either sibling at the same age.

WalkingMeAway · 18/12/2020 13:52

Yes.

First - girl @ 38+6 - 7lb 1oz
Second - boy @ 38+6 - 8lb 2oz

Hoping this one won’t be another pound heavier !

noscoobydoodle · 18/12/2020 13:58

Dc1: 8lb 3 at 40+9
Dc2: 7lb 14 at 39+4
DC3: 7lb 9 at 38+4

I think they would have all been the same size if born on their due dates. DD1 was measuring very small on scans - predicted under 6lbs and had lots of extra scans- so I had tiny baby clothes ready to go and she was a whopper (in comparison)- had to send my mum to M&s to buy something bigger to bring her home in!

BrigitsBigKnickers · 18/12/2020 14:14

A little
DD1 8lb 4
DD2 8lb 7

JChina · 18/12/2020 16:38

Yes
1 6lbs 10.5oz (born 37w)
2 7lbs 7lbs 8.5oz (born 39w) he was predicted to be 9lbs11 on a growth scan...pretty far out!
3 TBC!

AlwaysLatte · 18/12/2020 16:48

Yes. First was 7lb 12 and the second was 8lb 5.

AlwaysLatte · 18/12/2020 16:50

NB baby 1 was two weeks overdue and baby 2 was 3 days early so if they were the other way around I think no 2 would have been a whopper!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 18/12/2020 16:50

The midwife questioned my dates with dc3 as she was born looking really over due and I had lost twins just before getting pregnant with her.

Beach11 · 18/12/2020 20:28

Yes, 1lb heavier

Indoctro · 18/12/2020 20:38

1 - 8lb 9
2 - 7lb 11

PleaseGodLetItEnd · 18/12/2020 20:41

2nd was smaller... but we’re talking 9lb 3oz vs 9lb 5oz.

My main hospital bag tip though: get a couple of ziplock sandwich bags. Fill each one with a nappy, vest, babygro and hat in each likely size. Write the size on the front. Spares go somewhere else. Then your OH/midwife can just pull one out, rather than rummaging around to find a matching outfit in the right size.

catnoir1 · 18/12/2020 20:43

Yes nearly double the weight. Dd was huge.

Jenifirtree · 18/12/2020 20:46
