As there seem to be a few of us, shall we call on the collective might of mumsnet for some help..ie virtual waters breaking/plug loss/contractions etc...

(40+4 and fed up)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kittiwake · 25/10/2007 15:32

Hi all 41+3 today went to see midwife this morning and cervix is still closed and 'very posterior' so am resigning myself to possibility of induction on Monday but hoping something happens in the meantime..... Midwife said she managed to touch the edge of cervix so there is a possibility it could do something. Have stomach ache now but that's all. Have been drinking raspberry leaf tea, bouncing, eating pineapple, having sex, driving over speed bumps! I am thinking of going to a firework display on Saturday as a last resort ..........

Hope that's good news for you Hillbilly and Dalrymps too.

Dalrymps · 25/10/2007 20:16

Hey everyone, meant to write 41+2 in my last post not 42+2!... Had quite a lot of a show today, coming away throughout the day so i'm hoping it's a sign i'm moving in the right direction! My MIL seems convinced this means i will go in to labour straight away, i wish, i explained that it can be hours to weeks in between a show and labour but she was still not really listening . Kittiwake - hope something happens for you soon, everyone is different though so it might just happen all at once for you, my cervix was posterior too i'm booked for induction on mon too so we'll see if either of us pops first, if not we'll be induced on same day

PregnantGrrrl · 26/10/2007 07:16

that's a good sign!

i had awful pain in bed last night, was on the verge of thinking it may be starting for real, but it died off. Might have been curry

Midwife ringing me today to discuss sweeps / induction. I don't want either

Kittiwake · 26/10/2007 11:02

Hi all

Dal - thats a good sign though that something is happening anything else happening with you today?

Nothing going on here still have eaten a whole pineapple this morning ad 2 cups of RLT so far!

Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

Dalrymps · 26/10/2007 11:47

Hey everyone, little bit more of a show this morn, nothing more yet though, keep wishing i would get some sort of stomach ache or any sign it's about to start, i'd love to avoid induction, ah well 3 days to go so we'll see. Preggrrl - hopefully the stomach pains are the start of your body doing something! don't blame you not wanting a sweep or induction, sometimes i just wish the midwives would leave us alone!
Kittiwake - fingers crossed something will happen for you soon, so annoying isn't it? i keep going from being calm and thinking 'it'll happen when it happens' to just wanting to scream!!! Friends and family keep trying to convince me it'll happen any time but thats just annoying cause i was thinking that a week ago

PregnantGrrrl · 26/10/2007 13:00

i think i may succumb to a sweep in i can have one Monday- childminder is off next week, and i can't manage the bump etc plus DS on my own

i don't want one, but if i can hurry things a little, i suppose i should. I'm 41 weeks today.

Kittiwake · 26/10/2007 13:43

OOOoooh Dal that's exactly how I feel one minute wildly optimistic and the next in the depths of misery. This has certainly been an emotional rollercoaster for us!

My DH and family have been great but I don't think they can really appreciate what this is like, I certainly wouldn't have been able to imagine it beforehand. I really don't want to be induced and have read up loads on saying no to this and having expectant management. I can see that if I go for an induction when my body isn't ready it will possibly lead to a longer and more interventionist labour but for practical reasons (hospital is 50 mins away) I think I am going to have to go down that route if it comes to it. I am also not sure I could manage any more waiting. I think I will see how I feel on Monday. I am really hoping that something happens for you today or over the weekend.

PregnantGrrrl · 26/10/2007 17:15

I've been seen by the midwife this afternoon- i was already 2cm, 3cm by the time she did sweep (ouch!)

Have packed DS off to FILs for tonight just incase, rather than possibly have to send him at 3am in his PJs. Fingers crossed girlies!

Takeaway and telly until there's any action

Dalrymps · 26/10/2007 22:38

Hey everyone, pregrrl- that sounds really positive, don't you have to be 3cm to be classed as in labour , hope it kicks off really soon for you!
Not in labour yet here, had some period type stomach ache again but not progressing yet... back to waiting.... Hope everyone else is not too fed up, catch ya later

PregnantGrrrl · 27/10/2007 08:35

well, not a peep. had some slight aches last night, and a slightly bloody discharge (to be expected after a VERY painful sweep) but nothing then.

I have had the BEST sleep i've had in longer than i can recall though, which is great. DS coming back home this morning because i miss him like crazy, and FIL having him back tonight incase. Step MIL making me a lasagne today aswell. Bargain!

Good luck to all you overdue ladies out there- i have good feelings for this weekend, hope you do too

Dalrymps · 27/10/2007 15:22

Hey everyone 41+4 here and completely fed up, still constantly being asked by family and friends if anythings happened yet - no it hasn't! Feel down in the dumps cause i really thought with the consultant giving me extra time until mon i had a really good chance of going in to labour but it's looking less and less likely . Hope everyone else is not feeling too fed up, sorry to be such a moaner! catch ya later

i've woken up actually feeling quite depressed now. 9 days overdue, and booked for talk at hospital re: induction on Tuesday. Have told midwife i will not have induction unless baby's health at risk, so will demand scan instead.

she's very supportive, said there's every chance i can safely pass 42wks without clinical labour, due to my age, health, background etc. and a scan will show if there's still plenty of fluid for him in there.

i have an awful feeling i'm going to go past 14 days, and have to have the baby in hospital though

Hey everyone, was really down yesterday but trying to look at the positives and not dwell too much today, probably be fed up again in 2 mins . pregrrl - know exactly how you feel, hopefully you'll go into labour before the 14 days and won't need an induction, was reading that ony about 10% of people go over 14 days so there's chance for you yet . I've basically decided to just accept i'm being induced tomorrow evening now and stop hoping i'll go in to labour cause i get excited everytime i get a bit of tummy ache then am dissapointed when it goes nowhere! ((((((((((((((labour vibes to everyone))))))))))))))))))).

Kittiwake · 28/10/2007 14:35

Hi all

Will be going into hospital in 4 hours or so for my induction - although they don't actually start doing anything until the morning. Feeling pretty sad that nothing has hapened but there's still tonight I guess!

Dal- have posted on other thread too massive hugs to you hope something happens for you tonight and yes see you on the other side seems unreal after all this waiting that this is actually going to happen now doesn't it?

Good luck to you Pregnant girl and Inzi sending positive vibes your way.

Dalrymps · 29/10/2007 13:44

Hey everyone, just an update, been having pains since about 11pm last night and have had 2 shows with blood, called the midwife cause due to be induced at 5pm today and pains still not regular enough to be going in to give birth. Midwife said to go in at 5 anyway and they will assess me to see hpw far on i am and whether i still need inducing or can be left to it, will let you all know how it went once the lo is here . Hope all you overdue's aren't too fed up, i'll try send some of my labour vibes to you

PregnantGrrrl · 29/10/2007 14:13

Congratulations pregnantgrrrl .
I'm 41+1. Midwife's coming to do a sweep on Friday. If babs hasn't appeared by Monday I'm booked in for an induction.
Been having a few twinges today, like someone poking a knitting needle up my fanjo. Hope this is the start of it, fingers crossed.

Hillbilly · 31/10/2007 15:25

Congrats to you Pregnantgrrl, or not so Pregnant grrl any more!!!

I too am now mother of 2. After my last post last friday I had a sweep that day and went into full labour in the evening, giving birth at 4.30am.

I got the water birth I wanted but the whole process was very overwhelming and painful. My body was in total shock afterwards but I have a wonderful son so it's all been worth it. Came home a few hours later and apart from lack of sleep, life could not be better!

Goodluck and +++ vibes to whoever is still waiting!

Dalrymps · 05/11/2007 01:22

hey everyone, just to let you know my lo arrived, went to be induced on 29th and after 2 prostin tablets had been inserted i went in to labour without having to have my waters broken on the morning of the 30th. It was really painfull on my back as lo had moved back to back even though he'd been in the perfect position forever he decided to move at the last minute! Dh helped greatly by rubbing my back through every contraction. Managed with gas and air and did request pethedine but then by the time the midwife sorted that out i was ready to push and decidd not to bother with it as it wouldn't have taken effect in time, lo's head born fine but he had his arm up so i tore as his body came out, was a 3 degree tear, didn't even notice though and was stitched in theatre straight away. Dylan is absolutely amazing and was totally worth it, weight was 6lb5oz. Been getting to grips with breast feeding over last few days, was quite difficult at first cause he was sucking hard to get the colostrum and my nipples got sore even though he was latched on properly, got some lasinoh nipple cream though and persevered and is getting better all the time, especially now my milk has come in. Hope everyone is doing ok and that you have your lo's with you soon, contratulations to pregrrl too!!!
