Maternity Clothes

Hi, I was wondering where is best to get maternity clothes from? Mainly Jeans and Leggings as my normal ones are starting to get a bit tight 🙈

Also (may sound dim but this is my first baby) how do you choose your size, do you go by size pre pregnancy or is it different? Or does this depend where it's from?

Any recommendations would be fab 😁

I think Gap maternity jeans are fantastic. They just look and feel like normal jeans. Buy in your usual size.

YoureOnMute · 15/11/2020 17:05

ASOS! Free delivery and returns too Smile

Mishmased · 15/11/2020 17:07

Seraphine, mama:licious, Jojo maman Bebe, H&M all do good mat clothes.

Wherethereshope · 15/11/2020 17:08

I don't for jeans and leggings buy your normal size, but trousers a size down.

Lou98 · 15/11/2020 17:10

Brilliant, thank you, I'll have a wee look at these suggestions now!😁

I had some maternity jeans from Next and some from Gap, both very good, comfy but quite stylish. Also got a cheap pair of black cotton maternity leggings from eBay. I went for my usual size in everything and it lasted me for the whole pregnancy from about 14 weeks when normal trousers were starting to get a bit snug!

Oneandabean · 15/11/2020 17:38

The only decent leggings I found were love leggings. For jeans I’ve got some from H&M and next. H&M are better

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 15/11/2020 17:38

Second vote for Seraphine. My boy is 7 months now, but I still wear some of the tops I got as they dont look like maternity wear, IYSWIM.

Stef92 · 15/11/2020 17:43

Debenhams are good, they're starting Black Friday deals tomorrow with different offers over the next 14 days

peachypetite · 15/11/2020 17:51

Buy your normal size. I’ve lived in maternity leggings from love leggings the whole way through and have found dorothy perkins best for wrap tops.

Illy603 · 15/11/2020 17:54

I’m so glad you made this post. I’ve been looking on so many sites today and feel completely lost with what to go for, what size to get etc.

dontcallmelen · 15/11/2020 17:58

Topshop also do maternity jeans & a smallish line of tops, my dd also found H&M really good she got some nice dresses from next.

Lou98 · 15/11/2020 20:05

Thank you, I'll have a wee look at all of these!

I have heard H&M are good, however, I always find their sizes a bit strange, I haven't bought anything in a couple of years right enough but I had tops from them that ranged from size 12 being loose and a 20 being tight (I was a size 12/14 at the time) so haven't been back since!
I'll have a look though, may have changed the past few years!

I'm definitely the same! I'm only 13 weeks so my normal clothes do still fit but I can definitely feel my jeans getting tighter and won't be long until I need them so want to get some in early but had no idea where to start!

I really like the jeans and joggers from Dorothy Perkins. Super comfy. I struggled to find tops but got a real bargain in JoJo Maman Bebe - tops which are both maternity and for feeding were usually £29 but reduced to £8.

Subordinateclause · 15/11/2020 20:23

I got a 2 pack of maternity leggings from Asda that are seeing me through a second pregnancy - not somewhere I'd shop normally. This time round I got some great maternity jeans from H&M. They are a size medium even though I'm only an 8—10 (5 ft 5) normally. Seraphine is lovely but expensive for things which will only be worn for a few months! I didn't wear any maternity clothes after giving birth last time, save for the very first week.

Apricotta · 15/11/2020 20:26

Got leggings from Sainsbury's online, best comfy fit ever. The bump patch is big on me at the moment but I'm only going to get bigger so that's alright. Got jeans from Amazon, they were new look ones and fit very well.

MrsMarrio · 15/11/2020 20:29

My best maternity jeans were from river island, I actually miss them! They were so supportive of my bump

If this is your first, chances are you will be using them again so good to invest. I haven't bought much this time round as I've got got mat clothes from 2012 that I packed away. I heard the likes of ASOS don't wash well so I'd rather not. My third and last so more buying fancy just something to last for the next 15 months😆

Does river island do maternity? Never knew that 🤔
Sunflower20001 · 15/11/2020 21:06

Also asda and newlook too.
I've brought most of my bits from there.
Normal pre pregnancy size.
New look have some nice nursing tops button down, which are great for pregnancy and using after for feeding too.
I got 3 the same different colours, 9.99 each.

Lou98 · 15/11/2020 21:55

What about maternity bras, where do people recommend for them?

OP posts:
peachypetite · 15/11/2020 21:58

I have lived in M&S non wired crop tops. Your breasts will likely keep on growing if you’re only 13 weeks so I wouldn’t waste your money on proper sizes, you’ll grow out again soon.

39weekswithno2 · 15/11/2020 22:22

The best maternity leggings I've had are from love leggings. Choose your normal size for up until about 30 weeksish then you might need a bigger size. Don't tumble dry!

New look jeggings are ok. Love leggings do jeggings too but I haven't tried them so can't recommend.

Also, have a look on the Vinted app. Lots of secondhand maternity clothes barely worn for between £1-£5!

I was thinking about the sizes growing again but I have a fairly large bust anyway (E cup) so I really need something wired for the support
