Thank you lovely @scrumdiddly123

Ahh that's so annoying 😔 will you have to have a test to be on the side of caution or have you just been advised to isolate because of the confirmed case? So frustrating too that you'll miss your 20w scan now too hopefully you can rearrange for when you come out iso! 🤞

AlviesMam · 13/11/2020 20:55

@ChampooPapi
Thank you I needed to hear that ❤️
I've been out today pushing the pram trying to get into a new routine! She is absolutely amazing a lights up my world it's just taking time to adapt to this new norm!

I'm constantly worrying about her and I choose not to sleep because I'm checking on her during the night- making sure she's ok - when does this part get easier!!

Hope everyone is well ❤️❤️❤️

FireflyGirl · 14/11/2020 05:40

@AlviesMam I still go check on my 5.5yr old and if he sleeps late I start to panic. He was about 9 months before I stopped prodding him if he was sleeping too quietly Blush

If it would help you sleep, you can get either movement monitor pads or a heart rate and oxygen monitor. They sound an alarm that would wake you if anything was wrong.

BecsterG · 14/11/2020 07:29

@AlviesMam it takes a good few weeks I think to not be listening to them breath. I think a couple of weeks with my first son. If I hadn't heard from him for awhile I was checking him etc. I remember when he first slept through the night I was straight there to check on him! Ha ha It's easier with the second as I check less but sometimes when Jude sleeps for longer or is particularly still during naps I go and look to see if I can see him breathing! Ha ha

With my first I had a dream almost every night that I was feeding him in bed and had fallen asleep and I'd wake up feeding the bed for him thinking I'd smooshed him only to fit him in his bed! Ha ha he it for months but I've only had it a couple of times with this one.

@FireflyGirl great news about DD's weight gain. Lots of good milk! I love it when they have the more awake time although not during the night! Ha ha

Jude has his 6 week checks this week both at the doctors and the health visitor was here on Thursday. He now weights 11lbs 12oz!! That's just over a 2lb gain in 3 weeks 🐷. He's very long, 91st percentile so I think he's going to be another tall boy. 8 week jags on Thursday. Ekk hate them.

Not long left for some of you ladies. You do get so uncomfortable the closer to the end or get. I remember after I'd had Jude getting into bed and think wow our bed is so comfy after months of being uncomfortable in bed! Ha ha

We got a memory foam mattress topper to help with my pelvic girdle pain, which it did, but now I don't have the PGP, it's really scrummy to snuggle into.

I managed a grand total of an hour and a half of sleep last night 😴 DD really struggled to settle, and between midnight and 6am fed for 3 hours!!

She was exhausted, and I finally managed to get her to sleep 40 minutes ago, so I'm keeping her snuggled on me in the hope she stays that way!

BecsterG · 14/11/2020 09:52

That's rough @FireflyGirl. I've had a few nights like that. It's so hard!!

Jude is starting to sleep for longer at night now....finally but Still up three times. You do forget how hard the nights are with a newborn.

Ladies any advice for colic? Or how do you know if its colic or something else?! I'm obsessing over his temperature and checking every part of his body as he just sounds like he's in agony...
If we are awake... We are screaming 😭 even straight after a feed sometimes. It's not crying, it's full on back arching, body stiffening screaming.
We've tried infacol and it doesn't seem to help. We changed bottles to mam and if anything that has made it worse.
He is mostly fed in an upright position, he doesn't burp often but trumps like a trooper so midwife said lack of burps didn't matter.

Help 😭😭

Nic2908 · 14/11/2020 18:07

@BS9790 sounds like could be reflux. Couple of this too look out for does he bring his knees up to his tummy, does he push back on his feet almost in a banana shape?? Could start by trying gaviscon from gp. Could also be something like a cows milk protein allergy. I'm a paediatric nurse so I do have experience but very difficult in a child you cannot see. You could always ask your midwife or hv for a visit.

Nic2908 · 14/11/2020 18:09

Sorry I've just realised I had clicked on the wrong thread please don't think I scroll different threads just to give my three pence worth I absolutely do not.

BS9790 · 14/11/2020 18:37

@Nic2908, thanks. My health visitor isn't coming out to meet us for another 2 weeks yet, she is also on annual leave next week.
We originally thought it was constipation as he goes a long time without pooping, but now even when he's recently pooped he's still the same so it must be something else.
I will phone the midwife on Monday to see what they think. My gp isn't doing appointments due to covid so no point even bothering with them.

ChampooPapi · 14/11/2020 18:46

@BS9790 are you using formula? Maybe switching could help? I find hipp organic is really good, I haven't heard of any babies having issues on it in my circle and generally those who switched to it from cow and gate or whatever have had success ☺️

Nic2908 · 14/11/2020 21:59

I am going to beusing hipp organic as formula for this reason... heard from quite a few mummies at work that their babies were so much settled once swapped to this. Well worth a try. I'm due in 4 weeks so cannot tell you anything from a parents perspective.

Ejb86 · 15/11/2020 07:48

Hubby felt baby kick for the first time last night.

I've been feeling and seeing kicks for a while, but when I'd call him over she'd stop. She was so active last night though and gave him a really big boot Grin

MilsCookie · 15/11/2020 08:51

@Ejb86 ahhh that's so lovely!! 😍 it's so typical isn't it when they're moving loads so you tell your partner and then they stop 🙈

@BS9790 how are you getting on? Sorry I can't advise but I think it's fairly common from you've described. That doesn't make it any easier though 😞 hope you find a solution soon!

How is everyone doing? I've just had a panic and realised I need to buy new mattresses for the carrycots for the girls' pram. Or do I?! It's a second hand pram but in very good condition. Do I need new mattresses? If I can take the covers off and wash them (I need to check if I can) and use them with Moses basket sheets, will that be ok? I will obviously buy new mattresses if I have to - it's only just occurred to me!! 😬

SunnySideUp2020 · 15/11/2020 08:57

@MilsCookie i think they advise to buy new mattresses for safe sleeping.
But if they're not going to spend that much time sleeping in the pram, i would think it's fine to simply wash or replace the cover?

@Ejb86 awww so nice!!! Enjoy :)

@BS9790 obviously never had a baby before but a friend of mine had this issue and it wasn't just reflux. Her baby had milk allergy. She had to switch to a special formula.

scrumdiddly123 · 15/11/2020 08:59

Ah @Ejb86 great news! It’s so amazing isn’t it! I spent ten minutes last night just watching my tummy move every time she kicked 😍

FireflyGirl · 15/11/2020 12:19

@Ejb86 how exciting!

@scrumdiddly123 that's about the only part of pregnancy I enjoyed, and miss.

@BS9790 The first thing I thought when reading your post was silent reflux. From what I've read, colic tends to just be in the evening, rather than all day.

DS is lactose intolerant and DN had cows milk protein allergy (CMPA). They both had other symptoms as well as what you've described.

@MilsCookie if you're not planning to use the pram for naps/sleeping, I wouldn't bother replacing the mattresses. I bought a second hand pram to use as a travel system (as they don't make car seats for my old travel system any more, and I wanted a new seat as it's over five years old) and have just washed the covers. New mattresses for the Moses basket and co-sleeper.

BS9790 · 15/11/2020 19:42

@ChampooPapi, yes we're formula feeding now. I asked about switching but midwife & HV both said we had to wait 3/4 weeks to let him get used to this one before trying another 😔

@FireflyGirl, yes I'm fairly sure it isn't an allergy. My nephew has cmpa too and he would have a swollen tummy and get little spots too.

I've been reading about silent reflux and wondering if that could be the problem, he has hiccups a lot too which can be a sign. However, I read that jiggling themnabout aggrevates reflux, whereas a good jiggle soothes him. We've had a much better day today... Only 2 screaming/body tensing episodes. Who knows, maybe hes just grumpy 😂😂😂

The midwife is coming on Wednesday so I will see what she thinks!

Fizzl · 16/11/2020 12:31

Hi everyone 😄 hope you're all doing well.

I think I might officially finally hop on over to this thread. I've had my second scan today and everything is looking great and baby's measurements have all caught up and I'm exactly where I thought I should be at just over 8 weeks. Such a huge relief for now. One hurdle down! Doesn't take away the anxiety as we've been here before with a heartbeat beyond 9 weeks but it feels like one huge step in the right direction for now.

SunnySideUp2020 · 16/11/2020 13:34

@fizzl officially welcome !!!!! Glad to hear about your scan! It sounds like this is your rainbow finally :)
Give me your exact edd and how far along you are so i can add you to the list tomorrow.

I have my 20w scan tomorrow afternoon so quite nervous 😓
