How reliable is a test after 2 weeks?

I’m in a terrible position whereby I’m pregnant and not sure which guy it is. I had sex 14/sept and 15 days after I got a false pregnancy test.

20th September I also had sex with a guy and a few days ago I had a positive test result. I also used the clear blue test that said it was 2-3 weeks.

I don’t know when my last period was.

I’m guessing that there is no way to know which guy is the father until the baby is born?

I need some support.

It is slightly more likely to be the first man but unfortunately not possible to tell for sure.

If you keep the pregnancy, it becomes possible to do a DNA test later on.

Wishing you luck with working things out xo

The pregnancy test was instant, before the control line. So yes most likely more the first guy?

Yes it’s more likely to be the first guy if the line is very strong.

36pregnant · 10/10/2020 20:07

So the clear blue indicator is a bit of fun and not reliable?

Is there any way down the line I can find out?

Not sure how helpful this is, but I had sex once on 20th September and found out last weekend that I’m pregnant. Strong lines and I got a 2-3 on CB digi last night. The weeks indicator on CB is for conception indication so I think it’s more likely to be the 2nd guy. You’d be more likely to get a 3+ if it were the first guy I think? Obviously you won’t know for certain without a DNA test. Hope you’re okay! X

I guess it was too early when I tested after 2 weeks :( f

@slp92 thanks.

I guess I’ll never know.

I thought I wasn’t able to get pregnant (as confirmed by PCOS and Dr) and look what’s happened... which is a blessing but one guy is married (yeah thanks for telling me mate) and the other I can’t find him (tinder hook up).

Fab. Could do with advice. I really want to keep but money and support are an issue.

2-3 weeks means estimated conception so i would guess the 2nd guy probably, when you get an estimated due date it might help then to track back

36pregnant · 10/10/2020 20:21

Sadly I don’t know my dates of periods and there are only 6 days between the two men. So I don’t think there is a way to know?

The weeks indicator is roughly since conception. Difficult with your timings unfortunately.

PhylisPrice · 10/10/2020 20:30

Is there no way at all to find period dates? Did you buy tampons somewhere you could look at online banking and perhaps tell from that? Didn't message a friend complaining about period pains or anything?

PhylisPrice · 10/10/2020 20:30

Although that said it probably wouldn't change things.....

Slightlybrwnbanana · 10/10/2020 20:34

I believe there is a dna test that can be performed while pregnant, not sure at what stage though.

Frazzled2207 · 10/10/2020 20:35

When you have a 12 week scan they “date” you and you should be able to work back from that. In my case it was totally accurate as I knew exactly when I had conceived. Won’t be 100% certain but will make one a lot more likely than the other.

I had my 12 week scan about 10 days ago and it was bang on with my dates so they are usually pretty accurate.
36pregnant · 10/10/2020 20:43

There is only 6 days difference between the two guys so I’m not sure it will be accurate.

With regards to periods - the last one was bleeding for one day and didn’t require tampons. I have two boxes in the draw that I’ve had for many months.

Can only one link me to benefits /childcare options for single parents?

Previous*.

I don’t think the pregnancy is viable because I have no family in the area to help with childcare and not enough money.

Are your periods usually like that? Your one day period sounds like implantation.

Any chance you were already pregnant?

Oneandabean · 10/10/2020 20:50

If you decide to keep the baby when you have the 12 week scan and they date work back. They told me the scans are accurate to within 4 days +/- so you should be able to tell which it is.

lucymagoo · 10/10/2020 20:51

I agree that period sounds like an implantation bleed, was it after either of the men?

36pregnant · 10/10/2020 20:52

@Sexnotgender nah I’ve had the one day periods for 18 months or so, so not implantation.

OP posts:
36pregnant · 10/10/2020 21:00

@Oneandabean wouldn’t they require dates of periods?

OP posts:
Oneandabean · 10/10/2020 21:24

@36pregnant no they measure the baby and that gives them the dates. They only use the date of last period to give an estimated date until your scan.

36pregnant · 10/10/2020 21:48

@Oneandabean I think because the dates are too close to each other it would be too hard to tell either way? 6 days between sex.
