How reliable is a test after 2 weeks?

I’m in a terrible position whereby I’m pregnant and not sure which guy it is. I had sex 14/sept and 15 days after I got a false pregnancy test.

20th September I also had sex with a guy and a few days ago I had a positive test result. I also used the clear blue test that said it was 2-3 weeks.

I don’t know when my last period was.

I’m guessing that there is no way to know which guy is the father until the baby is born?

I need some support.

I think with only 6 days between there's no way of knowing for sure without a DNA test.
Sorry to bring this up but you really should get a full sti screening ASAP if you've had unprotected sex with 2 men casually. No judgment but you need to keep yourself safe.
Scans aren't accurate with only a 4 day margin of error. I know for sure when my 4yo ds was conceived and what date I ovulated. They gave me a due date 5 days earlier than the one I worked out (mine was much closer to when he was actually born), so you can't rely on the scan to know paternity.

BabyG123 · 10/10/2020 22:08

As above no way of finding out other than dna but would either men even give
You the time of day for that being married and uncontactable?

Also 2-3 weeks clear blue is actually 4-5 weeks pregnant from your lmp. You add 2 weeks on.

36pregnant · 10/10/2020 22:14

@DueNumberTwo saying sorry means you’ve done something wrong and won’t do it again lol.
I’m not asking about sexual Health, maternity ya.

@BabyG123 yeah why do they add on two weeks?

@36pregnant the clearblue digital is done from conception but most commonly a pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last period. So "2-3 weeks" + 2 weeks pregnant if that makes sense. You're technically 4-5 weeks pregnant

36pregnant · 10/10/2020 22:48

@lucymagoo i wonder how reliable the digital teat is. I will do next week and see what result I get.

I really think it's the 2nd guy, you would get a positive 15 days after conception otherwise I would have thought

36pregnant · 10/10/2020 23:17

@lucymagoo it was 15 days after sex.
I’ve been pregnant before and the line was very faint, and that was 2.5 weeks after sex. This line was solid before the control line.

Professional sonographer told me they’re accurate within a 4 day margin, but I’ll let them know someone @DueNumberTwo on Mumsnet knows better 😂😂😂
The only way to 100% know your conception date is if you have IVF.

36pregnant · 10/10/2020 23:33

@Oneandabean I think it’s past 8 weeks because they are all the same size but as the pregnancy progresses not so much.

@36pregnant they all grow about the same until around 13/14 weeks which is why the dating scan is done around 12 weeks. After that the rates of growth can change and they’re not as accurate. The only 100% way of knowing is dna test but the dating scan might give you more of an idea one way or the other obviously depending on dates. Remember sorry can live for up to 5 days before fertilising an egg and there’s no way of knowing when you ovulated so it’s a hard one

36pregnant · 11/10/2020 00:15

Ah thanks @oneandabean I wouldn’t abort that late I don’t think as they are quite big and I would have already known for 9 plus weeks and nearly 1/3 way through the pregnant.
I just don’t know what to do though.

@36pregnant with pcos it'll make it even harder to choose the the dad as periods are all over the place and so are cycles and egg releases.

As above with the clear blue and it only goes up to 3+ weeks so I'd not waste your money and go with what it says. (4-5weeks when you call to book in with a midwife)

CountFosco · 11/10/2020 07:04

Does it matter who the father is? One is married, the other a casual Tinder hook up. Why would you want to have a child with either? Speak to your GP or a pharmacist and get the abortion pill asap. Get yourself checked out for STIs. Use a condom from now on.

BabyG123 · 11/10/2020 07:09

@36pregnant also with there only being 6 days I'd not make a guess. Imagine if you guess and then your baby is a week early or late it'll send you over drive mentally!

Oncemorewithfeelin · 11/10/2020 08:26

Too close together to know for sure even with multiple scans. You will need a DNA test.
Also get and STI test as if you test positive for certain ones then you risk passing them onto your baby, plus any other partners you have unprotected sex with.

Oneandabean · 11/10/2020 09:38

I think the big question is do you want this baby? I have been a single mum and I can tell you it is hard, but it’s also so rewarding and the best thing I did. But only you can make the decision what is best for you. Just know there is support out there for whichever you choose, you’re not on your own

36pregnant · 11/10/2020 09:46

@Oneandabean I do but it’s like everything is against me

@36pregnant then I would call the midwives and let them know your situation. They will be able to put you in touch with the right support networks in your area.
I know it’s scary OP, but you can do this

36pregnant · 11/10/2020 10:47

@Oneandabean I’ve emailed pregnant at nhs something. My gp wasn’t helpful,

Oneandabean · 11/10/2020 10:51

@36pregnant hope you get the support you need

36pregnant · 11/10/2020 16:19

@Oneandabean thanks. I’ll just abort. Reckless of me to do it all
