Told wrong sex?

I have been to three scans- at 16 weeks, 20 weeks and 30 weeks. All have said girl.
However, last night I saw on a Facebook group that someone had numerous scans that said girl and they ended up having a boy... I am so paranoid now!
Has this ever happened to you or anyone you know?

OP ignore all the posters being deliberately hard-work, feel sorry for their unfortunate lack of intelligence if they don’t understand what you are asking.

I am sure after 3 scans you have nothing to worry about. I do however know a person who was told incorrectly but she didn’t have as many scans as you’ve had. She was only told once in her 20 week appointment. Congratulations and good luck.

@LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella

Please just focus on how lucky you are to have a healthy baby, hopefully, at the end of your pregnancy.

The most important thing is that the baby is healthy.

Hannah12345625 · 07/10/2020 21:10

Thank you @Mrsxx4 I guess everytime you have another scan you are decreasing the chance of it being wrong! Must have been a shock for your friend!!
Thank you!! Only three weeks to go!
@Whyemseeaye I bet you were happy that you asked them to check the sex again!! Less surprises for the birth 😅😅
I was just delighted to be proved right 😂
My husband thought I was mad - but I was that sure!!
Good luck with your little one x

Hannah12345625 · 07/10/2020 21:12

@Lozz22 @WhatifIfeellikeacat I have said so many times already that I am so grateful I am pregnant. I am happy with whatever the sex and I just want a healthy baby--like any other pregnant woman.
I was just asking a question about the scan being wrong. At no point have I said I am not thankful to be pregnant and I know thr most important thing is that the baby is healthy!!

I was told I was having a boy 16 weeks & 20 weeks then scan at 24 weeks was confirmed a girl 😂 all scans since including 3D have been girl and I’m 38 weeks now ready to pop! I’ve brought so much pink so hopefully she is still a she when arrives 🙈!

Why are people on here so rudely judgemental over anything gender (yes yes I know it’s sex 🙄) related? Most ‘normal’ people are excited to find out the gender of their baby and start bonding and imagining life with that child so I don’t understand why it’s seen as such a crime on MN! If you want to dress your baby in neutral clothing then go ahead and buy some yellow but some people don’t and are not in the wrong for buying pink or blue baby clothing!

SqidgeBum · 07/10/2020 21:13

Yes. My cousin was told 3 times she was having a girl, and she had a boy.

She loved him none the less, and mostly just laughed. We all bought girl cards with 'girl' crossed out. It was all very lighthearted. Scans are not always accurate. In fact they are on average only 80% accurate across the NHS. I have been told mine is a girl, but we still have boys names picked.

A baby is a baby. It wont matter if its a girl or a boy. It will still be your baby and you will love it.

Hannah12345625 · 07/10/2020 21:16

@reallyready7 I bet you are so happy you had the other scans!! Would have been such a shock when she was born!
Thank you for the support with some of the comments on here. I feel like I should be made to feel guilty because I asked this question about the sex being wrong!
It is obvious that all women want their child to be healthy... I think about that and worry about it every day! But for me (and like you said) it's an exciting part of being pregnant--choosing names and buying outfits!!
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!

@SqidgeBum wow! I bet that was such a shock when she had the baby!
It's a funny story to tell!
Of course, I am happy either way... I was just too impatient to wait until the birth! 🙈

Bl0ndi3 · 07/10/2020 21:26

@Hannah12345625 I am so sorry that you've been subjected to such nasty people on this thread.

And for those suggesting that the OP is ungrateful for being pregnant that's disgraceful and clearly comes from a hurtful place no doubt but even still you have no right.

Get a grip people it's a perfectly reasonable question I really don't understand when threads end up like this from nothing - forever baffled by how low some people are willing to go just because of anonymity 👀 it's extremely commonplace for people to find out the sex, buy girl or boy specific clothes (shops have girls and boys sections for goodness sake!) and even things like decorate nursery's according to the sex this is not a new thing this is very much the norm so what is the problem?!?

@Hannah12345625 I can only imagine you're safe with the 3 scans ❤️ no experience otherwise to help you

YolandiFuckinVisser · 07/10/2020 21:27

I know 2 people this happened to. One of them was fine about it and has an amusing story to tell about the shock of finding her baby girl had a willy. The other really struggled to bond with her baby because he wasn't the little girl she'd prepared for. It was a massive disappointment to her.

WineTheBobbin · 07/10/2020 21:31

Congratulations! I was told I was having a girl at the 20 weeks scan but the scans after that the sex wasn't mentioned again. I had complications so the sex was the least of my worries at the other scans and when I remembered to ask she was always in the wrong position to double check. So I wasn't completely sure I was definitely having a girl as I heard similar stories of people being told one sex and having the other. I bought mostly green clothes (as that's my favourite colour) and had a back up boys name just in case.

K1ran · 07/10/2020 21:32

I was told by 2 sonographers that I was having a boy. When baby was born, actually had a baby girl (we were more than over the moon)

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 07/10/2020 21:44

It happened to my cousin. But this was 20+ years ago.
She was told boy, and when the baby was born it was a Girl.

Fannybawz · 07/10/2020 21:55

@chocolatespiders

Yes it happened to a lady I know. Her daughter was told she was having a girl and she had a boy. She adores her grandson now but I remember her being so pleased it was a girl as she was single parent to two girls and said 'we don't do boys'.

If you are concerned or worried pay for a private scan

“We don’t do boys” ??? What a fucking idiot she is
Goinghometocallie · 07/10/2020 22:00

I know someone it happened to. They had painted nursery pink and brought everything pink. I don’t think they were upset. Just shocked. Once it pops out you won’t care. It’ll just be a story to tell for years to come.

lc86 · 07/10/2020 22:06

@Hannah12345625 think some members have missed the point of your post!! 🙄.. I have had 4d scans and they are pretty sure baby is a boy so I'd be very surprised if he comes out a girl, and like you I have bought a lot of gender specific clothing!! 🙊 i do know someone who they told was having a girl and was a boy, however I'm not sure 3 scans could be that wrong, fingers crossed for you so all your pretty pinks get to go on your baby girl xx

Cam2020 · 07/10/2020 22:19

No, but we did take it with a pinch of salt in case in turned out to be wrong!

babbi · 07/10/2020 22:34

@Hannah12345625 congratulations on your pregnancy 🤰
Take care and look after yourself and enjoy your baby girl x

BewilderedDoughnut · 07/10/2020 22:48

Pink outfits for a girl??

We need to stop promoting gender stereotypes. Are you going to get her a little ironing board and play cooker too so she can really learn her place in the world?

Pipandmum · 07/10/2020 22:52

Yes. After being told it was a girl, the sonographer immediately backtracked and said that things are never 100% certain with a scan. My sister in law was told a girl and was thrilled after three boys - her fourth son wore pink for the first three months...

CoffeeInAnIV · 07/10/2020 22:58

It's happened to a friend of mine. She had two scans that said girl and he's now a healthy nine year old boy.

It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. A healthy pregnancy, a healthy mum and a healthy baby are all that matters. Be prepared for anything upon delivery and if you're really paranoid and care about gender norms, exchange any 'girly' items for neutral colours.

MinesALatte · 07/10/2020 23:02

@BewilderedDoughnut ...you ok, hun?
So what if OP does?!

I am astounded by the negative comments in this post, and they’re getting worse!! What makes each and every one of you negative people superior to others, and what gives you the right to post quite frankly nasty comments to a genuine, serious question?!

@Hannah12345625 congrats on your pregnancy, hopefully you’re laughing these insane comments off x
