I will comment on this on Monday. We didn't sway, but we did dtd day before and day of ovulation, so I suppose that would point towards a boy.
I did ovulate from my left ovary as I asked at my 12 week scan if she could tell

Ltay2 · 30/10/2020 09:16

Ooo this is interesting! Can't say until 9th Nov when we find out, but I'm pretty sure we DTD the day before ovulation or maybe even the day of. Can't remember exactly and I've deleted my fertility apps now and replaced them with pregnancy ones so have no record ๐Ÿ™„

SmileyT · 30/10/2020 14:05

@SarahTTC2020 like to keep my parents on their toes... mum hasn't stopped bothering me since I told them ๐Ÿ™ˆ

@Cocoblue22 All the old wives tales and Chinese calendar told me I was having a girl ๐Ÿ˜‚ I did loads of reading on swaying and there doesn't seem to be any evidence that it works but doesn't hurt if people are really keen one way or another. Also I ovulated from my left... and ended up with a boy ๐Ÿ˜Š

Currently 7girls to 3 boys if my list is up to date ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’™

Hey all when did you all feel flutters or movement
I know Iโ€™m only a little over 15 weeks but just wondered when it started
I really want to feel something x

Ltay2 · 31/10/2020 08:50

@Mustbemad82 I want to feel something too! I'm 17 weeks but first baby and not felt anything yet. Keep getting frustrated when people ask me!

Mrsi2020 · 31/10/2020 09:59

Morning everyone, how is everyone keeping?

I canโ€™t wait to feel flutters. I remember I felt them first time at 20 weeks but then I realised Iโ€™d felt them sooner just hadnโ€™t recognised them lol xxx

mrsmummy1111 · 31/10/2020 12:17

How's everyone's weekend going so far??

Don't mean to bore you, but looks like it's lockdown again as of next week if the rumours are true. Hope everyone's doing ok xxx

In terms of kicks I'm 19 weeks on Tuesday and I think I felt the first "proper" kicks (that felt like actual kicks rather than flutters) quite early this time - around 16/17 weeks. I'm laying here now and can feel the baby going crazy, but my bump is small so maybe just closer to the surface ๐Ÿคฃ

First baby was 20 weeks, just after. Don't worry you'll feel them soon and there'll be no mistaking it โค๏ธ

LittleRa · 31/10/2020 12:47

Iโ€™m 21+5 and not feeling a huge amount of movements, if I sit still and really concentrate on it I can feel some flutters and whooshes sometimes. However at my 20 week scan the sonographer said the placenta is on the front, which would affect any movements I would feel as the placenta would cushion them. Stressful as itโ€™s very reassuring to be able to feel kicks and movements!!

SmileyT · 31/10/2020 19:38

@Mustbemad82 I started feeling movements at around 16/17 weeks, but when I went to my dating scan they did say that the place of placenta was high and and at the back so I should expect to feel earlier than average. I'm 20weeks now and OH can feel movements if I stay really still x

I cannot be arsed with this next lockdown I've got so many plans over the next few weeks, bad enough going out for dinner this week and sitting outside in the cold but now we can't do anything ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Really interesting reading your thoughts on swaying and ovulation side....I don't think there's much science in it tbf just found it interesting to see if it held true for anyone. I never thought to ask which side I ovulated from I didn't realise they could tell! X

@Mustbemad82 I think I started feeling flutters quite early on this time probably about 14 weeks I can feel very strong movements and now what are starting to feel like kicks at 21 weeks and DH can also feel baby now too ๐Ÿ’™ x

@SmileyT Im fed up of it too I think it's starting to get everyone down now โ˜น๏ธ x

Hope you are all keeping well and had a nice Halloween....now on to the festive season hopefully things will look a bit better by the end of the month ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป x

Ltay2 · 01/11/2020 09:25

@SmileyT I've been in tier 3 all along so this new lockdown means very little difference for us but still cba with it!

Busybee143 · 01/11/2020 10:27

@SmileyT @Ltay2 I'm fed up of lock down too, we've also been in tier 3 throughout so nothing will changes for us as me and dp still have to work so will need family childcare as dd doesn't go to nursery. I can't believe there locking down again, ruining the economy and making the poor poorer, some families will struggle to survive this. I think we would have a fair shot if they considered closing schools, even if its 2 weeks in 2 weeks out, there is a lot of data to suggest how fast figures are rising in schools and to not even put them on a rota system makes a mockery of all the families struggling because of a lock down that's half arsed because the government is having a tiff with the teaching unions. Schools can keep vulnerable and key worker children in school, if a school doesnt know who their vulnerable children are they've failed already. Sorry had to get that off my chest and put my 10p in ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Just radiating my fear of going back to work tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜‘

On another note I got my results back from my 12 week scan which suggest I have a low paap a level which means something about protein in my wee? It can lead to complications so im really stressed about it. Everything else risk wise is low level but they have booked me an additional appointment at hospital to discuss the results with me. Has anyone experienced this before and got any advice? I'm really stressing and convinced now this isn't going to end well which I know is stupid. I'm also now super dreading my gender scan which I was so excited for incase the baby hasn't grown.
Help โ˜น๏ธ

Cocoblue22 · 01/11/2020 10:33

@Busybee143 sorry to hear you are feeling stressed. Haven't got any experience with that but hopefully it's just precautionary and will all be fine try not to stress (easier said than done I know). When is your gender scan? Don't worry baby will have grown and will be perfect I have everything crossed for you ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป try to distract yourself and keep busy until then xx

Busybee143 · 01/11/2020 10:36

@Cocoblue22 it's on the 12th so not long to wait now, I'm really hoping work will be that hectic it will fly by. I then have this extra appointment on the 19th if I remember correctly. I was so excited to tell a couple of friends I'm pregnant but I just don't feel I want to now ๐Ÿ˜”

LittleRa · 01/11/2020 11:30

@Busybee143 I have the low Papp-a too, if you have a look through our threads you might see my posts about it but just briefly;
Low Papp-A is a low reading for a particular protein in the blood testing/screening which can be an indicator of developing pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure) and low birth weight/pre-term labour or even still-birth. So my DD (now 6) had a low birth weight (5lb 7oz) so although I wasnโ€™t diagnosed with the low Papp-a that time it sort of ties in. So was already under a consultant due to her low birth weight and the low Papp-A reading also triggered a consultant appointment (phone appointment) and I get extra growth scans (28 weeks, 32 weeks, 36 weeks and 40 weeks). When I had DD I took newborn size clothes and hats into hospital and they all swamped her! My mum had to nip out and get tiny baby size stuff. But this time there are no visitors to the wards etc so Iโ€™m going in all prepared with tiny baby size, newborn size and up to 1 month size ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜‚
Also I got a prescription of aspirin to take daily which helps with blood pressure.
I did notice when I went to 20 week scan, I was 19 weeks and 4 days based on the dates given at 12 week scan, but all the measurements on the screen the sonographer was taking were between 18 weeks 4 and 18 weeks 6. So not a huge difference, and all within the same range as each other (ie not a huge head then smaller spine ๐Ÿ˜‚) and the sonographer didnโ€™t mention it herself so I asked and she said itโ€™s normal to have a 2 week variation of measurements either side. But I did think hmm is this the start of being dinky. Iโ€™ll probably get a 10lb whopper after all this ha ha.
Only thing for me really is that I had a water birth with DD (as thereโ€™d been no indication she was going to be small or anything) and that worked well for me and Iโ€™d like to do it again, but this time Iโ€™ll be high risk- the midwife said it wonโ€™t necessarily mean I canโ€™t have a water birth, but if I had to be induced early due to reduced growth or if my blood pressure shot up or anything like that it could mean I canโ€™t do the water thing. Will just have to wait and see.

LittleRa · 01/11/2020 11:39

PS @Busybee143 just to say that I shouldโ€™ve made it clear- the low Papp-A reading means that we COULD me more likely to develop pre-eclampsia (ie high blood pressure in pregnancy) which itself then COULD lead to those complications I mentioned- not that the low Papp-A itself means those complications, if you see what I mean.
My midwife said itโ€™s nothing youโ€™ve done or havenโ€™t done to cause having low Papp-a (eg itโ€™s not like low iron where you eat more leafy greens or whatever).
Also she said thereโ€™s like a new measurement for the reading for what makes a low reading, meaning that more women are coming back with a low reading, which could be why I never had this reading with DD then went on to have low birth weight.
Hopefully you will be able to chat to a consultant, and will get scheduled in for the extra growth scans like me, to keep an eye on things and put your mind at rest. Take care x

Busybee143 · 01/11/2020 13:31

@LittleRa thank you so much for taking the time to write that it has honestly made me feel a million times better, honestly thank you so much x

Cocoblue22 · 01/11/2020 14:17

@Busybee143 glad you are feeling better and that @LittleRa could put your mind at ease. I'm sure everything will work out just fine and it's better to have the extra monitoring and for them to take special care while looking after you. I'm high risk in pregnancy too due to having inflammatory bowel disease and taking meds and have to have extra growth scans. I was warned that I could have DS prematurely and that he would prob be low birth weight. He was born at 39+5 and was 8lb 2oz so just because they say it could happen doesn't mean it will happen. I also got told at 37 weeks there was too much fluid (polyhydramnios) and that could indicate a problem like his oesophagus not being connect to his stomach I was worried out of my mind...as soon as he was born they checked and everything was fine and there was not explanation for having more than average water x

I can feel my little guy kicking right now he's getting so strong...I feel so in love with him and can't wait to meet him.... so excited for my delayed 20 week scan which is now on 9th (22+3) unfortunately my DH now won't be able to attend....feeling so emotional today ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿผ x

Busybee143 · 01/11/2020 14:23

@Cocoblue22 thankyou for sharing your experiences with me, it's very reassuring to know you've had similar 'warning signs' but everything has worked out nicely for you, I am so glad.
Thats gutting for your 20 week scan, is that because of lock down?
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and making me feel so much more reassured that everything will be ok

LittleRa · 01/11/2020 14:51

@Busybee143 No problem at all, I realised Iโ€™d put โ€œbrieflyโ€ at the start then basically went on for ages ๐Ÿ˜‚ If I sit and think about it sometimes I do worry about it all at times too, but generally I feel like thereโ€™s nothing really I can do other than taking the aspirin and getting blood pressure checked at appointments and going to the growth scans. I feel pretty well looked after having the extra scans- although DP canโ€™t come to them, but he has been at 12 and 20 weeks ones so I feel lucky about that.

Busybee143 · 01/11/2020 15:23

@LittleRa I'm just going to carry on as normal then. Tbf when I went for my 9 week, 10 week then 12 week scan the baby had grown as expected but two days extra in both gaps which obviously could just be dodgy measuring as they are so so small but at least it's more reassuring then being a little small after being told about papp a. I just need to keep grounded and think positive don't I. Thanks guys x

samilicious · 01/11/2020 16:31

@Cocoblue22 true for me - mine must have been before ovulation because we only DTD the after after AF then again a few weeks later which would have been too late. Also ovulated on the left but I always do - always get pain there. Chinese calendar was right too!

The lockdown is crap but just looking at all the figures last night made me grateful that people will be forcibly kept safer. My family (not me) are crap at obeying any of the rules and there's a few high risk people in it so feel like I can worry less.

Thought it was good they said about Covid tests for partners to allow them into births though - good they're thinking about that stuff but I guess we'll see. Hopefully the number will be down in time for Xmas and we can see the year out on a nicer note!

One thing they kept saying which made me feel better - 'in Spring, things should look a lot better' - yes they will because our babas will be here then to brighten up our worlds ๐Ÿฅฐ

Sorry for being that annoying girl being cheery with all this crap stuff going on - just trying to be positive because the tier lockdown system has got me down so much last few weeks as I'm sure it has many of you ๐Ÿ˜… always find counting blessing helps me not to get too down and hopefully same for you guys xxx

SmileyT · 01/11/2020 18:35

@Ltay2 think the biggest difference is the fact everything is closing, like shops and restaurants at least before you could go for dinner now it's just literally work and home but we'll all be fine ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ x

@Busybee143 Glad the ladies could put your mind at rest, definitely stay positive. With the schools I'm in two minds because I've got friends that would have to take unpaid leave if their kids weren't in school full-time which would put a financial strain on them but I honestly don't have a clue what's best ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ One thing I'd say is that if you are really anxious about going in, I'd see if you can get signed off by your Dr, not worth being super stressed x

@samilicious I'm with you on trying not to be a miserable Mary as I should be grateful that both me and OH are employed and in good health along with our families but I am British so also love a good moan ๐Ÿ˜‚ keep the positivity coming we all need it xx

@Cocoblue22 thats shit OH can't come to the scan, will still be amazing to see your little boy soon though ๐Ÿฅฐ I've been sitting tonight watching my belly jumping all over the place as bubs is kicking away and it's the best feeling โค๏ธ

OP posts:
Busybee143 · 01/11/2020 20:31

@SmileyT I am staying positive ๐Ÿ˜ that's a valid point about some parents having to take unpaid leave. I think maybe a slightly bigger bubble should be allowed to try and help. Maybe even schools could put the feelers out to see which children need to be in school, obviously if a parent has to take unpaid leave their child needs to be at school. It's a tough one as there are a lot of anxious people out there, a decision in which you can't make everyone happy ๐Ÿ˜‚

Ltay2 · 01/11/2020 21:17

@SmileyT Yeah that's it really, although we don't often go out! We've made the most of it tonight with an evening out of wagamama, bowling and cinema but now just panicking about logging 3 track and traces places and hoping we don't get notified.. can't win ๐Ÿคฃ
