@Ltay2 is the screening just a blood test? When is that done? I have my booking appointment 2morro. Was supposed to be last week but was self isolating xx

Mrsi2020 · 14/10/2020 20:37

Hi girls! How are you all? @LittleRa I genuinely think your scan pic is the first pic Iโ€™ve gotten broody at! It reminded me of when theyโ€™re new and cuddled on your chest with their legs up ๐Ÿ’” youโ€™ve melted the ice maiden xxx

Busybee143 · 14/10/2020 20:42

@LittleRa congrats on your beautiful scan and the news of your baby girl โค๏ธ

LittleRa · 14/10/2020 20:46

@Mrsi2020 Aww she was all curled up, the sonographer kept wobbling my belly to try and get her to move and turn around for better photo angles but I think that one is so cute too! I remember when DD was newborn still in hospital Iโ€™d put her in sleepsuits and the leg lets would just hang down empty as her legs we curled right up inside it Grin

@Catherinettc Screening is at 12 week scan- risk factors come from a combination of readings from the scan and the blood test (blood usually taken on same day as scan).

Catherinettc · 14/10/2020 20:50

Aah thanks @LittleRa its been so long since I last did this lol xx

MrsEmilyB · 14/10/2020 20:51

@Bl0ndi3 honestly you're not missing a lot! Just one big patchy red boobie ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ despite what @mrsmummy1111 and @zippityzip say! But thanks ladies for not making me feel judged for a weird MN tit pic haha โค๏ธ the GP is ringing me tomorrow afternoon. @Mococo1 nothing to be jealous of! All boobies are beautiful ๐Ÿ’ Although my mums were so ginormous by the time she gave birth to me she wasn't able to breastfeed me because I wouldn't be able to breathe and she had to have custom bras made so I'm hoping there's not too much expansion ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

@zippityzip I am with @mrsmummy1111 here - don't find out!!!!! If you all cave I'm in trouble haha. I'm team green ๐Ÿ’š

@ltay2 excellent news about the screening! How long does it take for the letter to come?

@Madz123 I'm dying to hear how your annoucement went!!!! ๐ŸŽ‰

LittleRa · 14/10/2020 20:57

@Catherinettc I wouldnโ€™t have remembered from DD 6 years ago, itโ€™s because Iโ€™ve literally just done it ๐Ÿคฃ

@MrsEmilyB My sonographer said that if thereโ€™s a high risk then you get a phone call or if low risk they send a letter which takes longer to get through so no news is good news. I was so scared when I got a voicemail one day at work just after the 12 week scan saying it was the screening midwife and to call back Shock When I called straight away she said I was low risk for the three genetic markers (downโ€™s, Edwards and Pateau) but that the screening had shown I had low Papp-a. I then also received a letter about the genetic screening results around a week later.

FairyLights2 · 14/10/2020 20:57

Ladies, I hope you're all doing great! Sorry I struggle to keep up with the chat. @SmileyT your holiday looks fab ๐Ÿ˜ @LittleRa congrats ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

So to give you guys a little update on my personal life. Well I'm a Year 3 teacher and today we found out a child tested positive in another class. My school is four form entry and are trying to have 'class' bubbles but the children are always mixing during break and lunchtimes. I'm feeling incredibly anxious that they've only shut down 1 class instead of the whole year group. I raised my concerns but was told that it's our own fault for not always staying 2m apart. Im not really sure what to do... I've contacted the union and waiting for advice.

In the meantime, I'm just so cross with leadership and their lack of empathy. They never enter classes or cover because they need to protect themselves. But for the rest of the staff, we have the basics and are told just to get on with things even when robust systems aren't put in place. AIBU?

Ltay2 · 14/10/2020 21:02

@Catherinettc Yeah it was a blood test at my dating scan โ˜บ๏ธ

@MrsEmilyB It's taken just over a week to receive the letter, think it was posted on Monday though so that is a week after my appointment.

LittleRa · 14/10/2020 21:04

@FairyLights2 I teach Year 2, this morning about 8.35am I discovered the TA I have 3 days a week who was due to cover me for going to my scan wasnโ€™t coming in as sheโ€™s developed a cough and gone for a Covid test ๐Ÿ˜ซ So I had to run around sorting alternative cover and filling them in on what to do etc. I totally agree about leadership lack of empathy and understanding- I have had a few children in my class have symptoms and go for tests but it has not been communicated to be why they were absent or what their results were. Touch wood so far no positive cases in my school but I do feel that if there was, even if not in my bubble, I would be feeling very nervy. People keep saying to me โ€œcanโ€™t you work from home from 28 weeks?โ€ And Iโ€™m like well itโ€™s up to SLT to put that in place and I canโ€™t see it happening!!

MrsEmilyB · 14/10/2020 21:04

@LittleRa ahh okay! How long did it take to get your letter? And what on earth is papp-a??? I feel so unprepared for tomorrow hahaha

@FairyLights2 I'm sorry. That's really shitty of them. My best friend and MIL are both teachers and I feel that you guys have had one of the toughest jobs in this whole awful situation. There's just no good solution (or at least not one they've come up with). I really feel for you. You're doing a great job in a hard time โค๏ธ

Busybee143 · 14/10/2020 21:09

@FairyLights2
If it is physically impossible for you to do as your leaders say and social distance something definitely needs to be done. I'm a secondary teacher and I'm just as worried by the sounds of what you've described. Deffo contact your union. My school sent out an email last week basically saying if we catch corona it's our fault for not socially distancing from the kids and we could have disciplinary action if the school chose to do that. Safe to say when our union rep came in the next day we got an apology email. Leaders really need (and not just in schools) to understand how anxious some people are right now in this new world, our wellbeing has gone out of the window. Work is so stressful now.
Take care of yourself and do what you need to do to keep safe.

LittleRa · 14/10/2020 21:11

@MrsEmilyB the low Papp-A means I got a low reading for that particular protein in my blood sample, this can be an indicator of developing high blood pressure in pregnancy- hypertension or pre-eclampsia, which can lead to pre-term labour or low birth weight (or even stillbirth ๐Ÿ˜ž). Because of the reading I got referred for a consultant appointment. I was already due to see a consultant because my DD had a low birth weight last time- although I was never diagnosed with high blood pressure or anything that time, it sort of ties in. I get extra growth scans to check on baby (28 weeks, 32 weeks and 36 weeks) and have been prescribed aspirin to take daily. The main thing that would bother me about it is if I am down as high risk I wouldnโ€™t be able to have a water birth again but midwife and consultant said it wonโ€™t necessarily mean that ๐Ÿคž

MrsEmilyB · 14/10/2020 21:18

@LittleRa oh wow! I've never heard of that before! I hope everything will be okay โค๏ธ it's good that they're keeping an eye on you too

blodyn91 · 14/10/2020 22:17

I forgot to say my letter came end of last week, so yes roughly 2 weeks after 12 week scan. It says im low risk, but its 1 in 2800 for downs, which compared to you on here is quite high. Trying not to overthink it. Im only 29 and the scan lady said the measurement were fine so must be something in the blood.

@LittleRa yay for first princess! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ
and well jel @SmileyT ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Dipsy77 · 15/10/2020 05:37

@Mococo1 I'm fine thanks for asking. I think the nerves for the 20 week scan are creeping in. I've still got 11 days to go but the anxiety Is there. I have a bump now though it's appeared out of nowhere!, I also have an anterior placenta for one of the babies so it's playing on my mind that I can't feel movement when I usually can at this time !!, oh to be having a first baby again and be young I never worried about anything in my first 2 pregnancies xx

zippityzip · 15/10/2020 06:48

@mrsmummy1111 I was at DVH - so they have a costa on site ๐Ÿ˜‚
Ohhhh I'm so tempted to know. I don't know how I stayed so strong the last two times.

@Ltay2 Great news on your screening results!

@LittleRa That's honestly one of the cutest scans I've ever seen.

How are you doing @Mococo1!!

@FairyLights2 That's so awful - I mean I'm not a teacher but the experience from my kids school has been so positive and they've stuck to bubbles and the HT emails us to tell us that's he's advocating for his staff so if they've got to close they've got to close. He really has been wonderful. It's so sad you're not having the same experience.

@Dipsy77 You're not alone I've been nervous at every scan so far! When does it end ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Mustbemad82 · 15/10/2020 07:33

@Dipsy77 good luck with the scans - keep us posted

@LittleRa the cutest scan picture - itโ€™s amazing the shapes they throw in there. And well done for team girl- Iโ€™m convinced Iโ€™m a girl too

My husband is a teacher too and he got a similar letter, suggesting that if he caught it it was as he has flouted the rules and if he needed to isolate , there would be a chance that it would be without pay

I must say- teaching seems cut throat- he always seems like he being whipped or pushed . One year, the head suggested that to address work life balance , he could consider employing a cleaner to help !

I am a therapy lead in the NHS and couldnโ€™t ask for a better experience - my boss actually told me yesterday that she supported me working from home throughout and โ€œfeel free to take some day time naps โ€œ if it helps

I have my scan today- Iโ€™m 13 weeeks and have been up since 3- Iโ€™m Petrified

Wish me luck !!

MrsEmilyB · 15/10/2020 07:42

@Mustbemad82 I'm also scanning with you today ๐Ÿ’– 12 weeks! God I hope everything is okay ๐Ÿ™ I'm terrified! DH is all cool and confident and I'm honestly not sure how he does it. My last scan was at 9w1d so it feels like forever.

Good luck to you!! I'm sure all will be perfect ๐Ÿ‘Œwhat time is yours?

Wish me luck!

Mustbemad82 · 15/10/2020 07:48

@MrsEmilyB mines at 11-10
Iโ€™m so worried - I did see baby at 11/4 but I still just feel scared - think the testing thing will have me anxious too? I hope growth and development is ok-

Itโ€™s nice to have a scan buddy- all the best for tours
Iโ€™ll be 13 weeks and feels like I have waited forever

MrsEmilyB · 15/10/2020 08:05

Ahh I'm jealous yours is so soon @Mustbemad82! Mine was supposed to be at 12:20 but they moved it to 2:30 just to prolong the agony!๐Ÿ˜‚ I've been microanalysing every single symptom in the last week! I'm trying to focus on work this morning and keep in a head space which is as positive as possible - telling family tonight, all being well!

zippityzip · 15/10/2020 08:13

@MrsEmilyB and @Mustbemad82 Good luck today it'll be amazing. Let us know how it goes!!!!

mrsmummy1111 · 15/10/2020 08:16

Best of luck today @MrsEmilyB @Mustbemad82 ! Keep us updated but everything will be absolutely fine โค๏ธโค๏ธ

I think it's just @Bl0ndi3 to go after that and then all 12w scans are done aren't they??

mrsmummy1111 · 15/10/2020 08:39

Urgh girls having a rough morning.

I know I'm being a real princess but my little boy goes to nursery just one day a week, and I KNOW he has a brilliant time because they have cameras that you can spy on them with throughout the day, and he has a whale of a time. He eats brilliantly, sleeps brilliantly and clearly has such a good day. But EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I drop him off, he grabs onto me and won't let go and is so so upset. I try to just give him a big hug and a kiss and hand him over because I know me getting upset and clinging onto him will make it worse, but he's been going since he was a year old (obv took some time off during COVID but not for long) and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I have no issues with the nursery I think they're wonderful, but when will it get better?? Maybe it's because he only goes once a week but I actually cry the entire car ride home afterwards because I hate drop off so much.

Have any of your lot been like this with nursery and when does it get better?? Feel like shit and just want him back with me so I can give him a cuddle.

Madz123 · 15/10/2020 08:40

@Mustbemad82 @MrsEmilyB good luck with your scans today! Can't wait to see more scan pics ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks those who asked how the announcement to my mum went. Well urm it didn't ๐Ÿ™ˆ I completely chickened out ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'm so annoyed at myself but the excuse that I'm telling myself is that it would be better to tell both my mum and dad at the same time so I needed to wait ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™„
