@1990shopefulftm they say a day after discharge, mine didn't give me a time she randomly popped in at 4pm the day after I got home.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 13/11/2020 16:59

I had a phone call on day 1 and a visit today at day 5.

1990shopefulftm · 13/11/2020 17:05

@SamK93 I best trying calling them during office hours, they seem to finish for the day at 3pm.

FirstSurprise001 · 13/11/2020 20:26

@1990shopefulftm When we left the hospital we were told to expect a visit between 10-4 the day after, if they didn’t arrive then to call. Then another visit on day 5 and then day 9. The first visit is just to check feeding and to weigh baby.

Hope you’re feeling a lot more relaxed now that you’re home 🥰

FirstSurprise001 · 13/11/2020 20:51

To the other ladies that are breastfeeding/have breastfed with previous babies - have any of you experienced really bad headaches?

I’ve had an overbearing headache that sits behind my left eye for the past 5 days. Originally thought it was due to not drinking enough, who has time to drink water with a newborn!?, but I’ve been making more of a conscious effort to drink loads today and it’s still killing me!

SamK93 · 13/11/2020 20:57

@FirstSurprise001 this is my 3rd DC, I'm breastfeeding but I haven't experienced it this time round however I did get it with my second, it was the first time I breastfed as I never breastfed my first. I had them constantly after birth for about 3/4 weeks especially when my milk let down the pain behind my eyes was horrendous, but it calmed down over time and just disappeared.

SamK93 · 13/11/2020 20:59

@FirstSurprise001 the midwife did tell me it was due to the level of hormones fluctuating and when they settle down the headaches will too, and they did. Hope it doesn't last too long for you x

1990shopefulftm · 14/11/2020 02:27

@FirstSurprise001 thank you, he was weighed at 5 days old and I think we re making gradual progress on feeding so no harm done in that case.

I m feeling a lot better mentally now, your own bed to sleep in makes such a difference.

DressingGown87 · 14/11/2020 04:42

@wavestreet congratulations on your little boy. Glad they managed to get you a better midwife for the final stages. Hope your both recovery well, and your enjoying it.

@gloorb hope your iron levels get back up to normal soon, are they monitoring it for you?

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt hope your midwife has managed to do you a referral for your spd, walking should hopefully get easier as the days go by.

@Sls668 I’m like you, I don’t want her to grow up. Paige is 4 weeks now and feels so big, but she is only 8lb 3! She is an angry madam too, will sit their deep breathing, huffing and scowls so much 😂 love the name Zuri! Hope the breastfeeding gets easier.

@Flora20 it flies by doesn’t it! I’m like your 4weeks old! Glad your both doing well.

@FirstSurprise001 hope the headaches calm down soon. I had one for a few days inthe first week, I put it down to hormones.

@1990shopefulftm glad your both home now, I hope you can both rest and recover now. Speaking to someone about your experience sounds like a good idea. I had a MW visit the day after I got home. They tend to work until 5/5.30, and I was usually last due to me being close to the hospital, but I was hospital community so had the same MW who did all my Antental and section. Maybe try give them a call tomorrow.

Paige is 4 weeks now. We have been back driving after my GP said I was well enough after the csection. Can’t believe the difference is made, we have been on so many walks in the woods, parks, countryside, round lakes. Just need to get more use to leaving the house routine. She also seems to have vastly improved on since not having cows milk, she’s due to get reviewed again in two weeks as her stomach and bowels has been inflamed. But the doctors and hospital where happy to discharge us as an out patient this week. All the midwifes came to say bye to us, and I cried after being under the same team since week 5 of my pregnancy, it’s been quite a journey. Still can’t believe she’s here and I’m a mum. Hope everyone is doing ok.

@DressingGown87 the midwife came round this morning apparently something was off with our discharge paperwork so we got missed yesterday.

Baby's cord fell off last night, so we re going to attempt to give him a bath later, sometimes he hates being changed so not sure how he's going to react.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 14/11/2020 14:55

Alfies stump fell off last night too. I'm going to attempt a bath tomorrow I think.

Anyone else had a peep at their bits yet? Surprisingly, mine looks like nothings happened despite feeling like I've been kicked in the faj by a shire horse Confused

Did anyone else have a 2nd degree tear in the vaginal wall?

FirstSurprise001 · 14/11/2020 15:18

@1990shopefulftm Finley loves a bath as long as it’s warm enough and I’d recommend putting a Muslin over the top of their body whilst they’re in the water otherwise I think the nakedness freaks them out!

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I had a look the other day and was surprised too! I had 4 ‘cosmetic’ stitches more at the top of mine than at the opening (TMI I know!!) and they’ve gone bar one.

14 days PP today and I feel like my bleeding is definitely on it’s way out. Called the doctor to organise some contraception and the male doctor tried to lecture me on how I didn’t need anything if I was going to breastfeed exclusively and yet the midwife said that’s not safe as there’s still a 2/100 chance of falling pregnant. Nice that they’re so consistent in their advice! 😂

DressingGown87 · 14/11/2020 15:48

@1990shopefulftm I’m glad they’ve been.

@FirstSurprise001 thanks for the bath tip. Paige hates it, just screams. I have tried running the taps. The other night I even got in with her, and she just screamed and then pooed in the bath. 🙈

FirstSurprise001 · 14/11/2020 16:01

@DressingGown87 oh no!!! 😂 I’m counting down the days until he poos in the bath! Last night we had projectile vomit all over our bed and then he pooed on me at 6am this morning 😩😂

DressingGown87 · 14/11/2020 16:20

@FirstSurprise001 I was nearly sick! She poos Atleast 7 times a day, so thought I would be use to it by now, but the bath was just another level! Hope Finley saves his for the nappies and not the bath! Oh dear! Nothing worse when they do it in the middle of the night when your tired. 🙈

krissy12 · 14/11/2020 17:41

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt I had a look at mine because I had the absolute fear initially thought I would be stitched up like something from a horror film haha. I had an episiotomy and a third degree tear my external stitches look quite neat but most of mine are internal.

@1990shopefulftm my wee one is fine in the bath but then goes crazy when you get him out and try to dry and dress him

1990shopefulftm · 14/11/2020 18:44

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt yes I ve got a 2nd degree tear and an episeotomy, I ve been too scared to look properly yet.
@FirstSurprise001 I'll get a muslin out and see how he does :) did the doctor agreeing to giving you something in the end?

FirstSurprise001 · 14/11/2020 19:13

@1990shopefulftm yeah I argued that I didn’t want any chance of getting pregnant again straight away and hadn’t thought about whether I’d have another in the future. He had the cheek to ask if I’d thought about more permanent ways I.e having my tubes tied. Talk of one extreme to the other! He’s prescribed the pill for me but says that I can’t start taking it until 6 weeks PP. Didn't explain why though so I’m none the wiser!

1990shopefulftm · 14/11/2020 19:32

@FirstSurprise001 that's a bit of a drastic jump when you ve just had a baby and are just making sure you re covered until you do know if you d want another or not. I thought the 6 week thing was a healing thing but doesn't actually cause you any harm to start taking the pill beforehand.

60sPony · 14/11/2020 21:34

I know many of the contraceptive pills you can’t take whilst breastfeeding so best to check if you are bfing that he’s prescribed you one you can take. Never heard about the 6 week thing 🤷‍♀️

Mc3209 · 15/11/2020 02:05

I gave in, and introduced a dummy. Rafa was extra fussy tonight and I am desperate for sleep. So far it's working (it's been, like, 30 mins), but I feel so guilty. He has been on my boob since about 8pm non stop, he is just sucking for comfort and I need to get some sleep. I will limit the dummy use for night time only for now.
Anyone else using dummies?

krissy12 · 15/11/2020 05:37

@Mc3209 we had to do the same as you with the dummy and I hated it aswell but we were giving extra bottles for comfort which were just getting wasted. luckily we only need to use it when hes fussy at night he doesn't need it during the day and once he is settled at night he will spit it out and we dont put it back in

Mc3209 · 15/11/2020 06:07

@krissy12 it makes me feel so much better. He is a cool calm baby during the day, and a fussy beastie at night. Mysterious transformation..

DressingGown87 · 15/11/2020 06:56

@Mc3209 I had to do the same, as I found Paige wasn’t hungry but was constantly wanting feeding for comfort. Once it’s out it doesn’t go back in. I’m hoping when she starts weaning the dummy can be dropped. Have you Googled “witching” hour in babies?

1990shopefulftm · 15/11/2020 08:31

@Mc3209 We re using a dummy if other things aren't comforting for him, it lowers the sids risk and we re both less stressed, he spits it out if he really doesn't want it. Don't feel guilty, you need your sleep.
