@1990shopefulftm I think a birth reflection session is a really good idea to help you process what has happened. I still feel quite overwhelmed thinking about mine it can be a lot to take in. they have already recommended I have a section next time which I am dreading but feel like i'll deal with that at the time its too much to think about just now.

DressingGown87 · 10/11/2020 20:03

@Sls668 hope your ok and your induction went well!

@1990shopefulftm hope things start to get better for you soon. Glad your little boy is on the ward with you now.

@FirstSurprise001 I’m using pampers (as they sell them in the local convenience) but have also got Aldi’s mamias and they are great. Found Asda’s couldn’t cope with Paiges diarrhoea 🙈 pull the frilly too! My friend was amazed the other day when I checked her nappy with the blue line, and she had 2 kids!

@watersintheclouds congratulations on your Baby girl! Love the name Wren!! Hope your recovering well, and have been able to go home so you can have your own bed and lots of undisturbed cuddles.

I think we are going through a “growth” spurt.

@krissy12 it's very overwhelming to go through, I wouldn't worry about your next delivery until nearer the time.

Sls668 · 10/11/2020 23:11

Hi guys,
I finally joined the baby club today! Induction started yesterday with the pessary. Cramping vamped up pretty quickly but then I started with quite a bit of bleeding and ‘too many contractions’. Everything I touched turned into a blood bath! They removed the pessary
Anyway, at 1am they moved me to delivery suite just in case. I was only 1cm but they let OH join me. We ended up having an emergency section as 1pm as she was stuck at 3cm yet my contractions were intense.
Sounds disastrous but I was quite happy with my section; it was very quick, the staff were amazing and my baby girl arrived safe and well. We are smitten. She’s 8lb 9oz and the surgeon suspected she never would’ve made it through the pelvis because of my size and shape (I’m 4ft 11).
Also she has SO MUCH CURLY HAIR - it’s flipping amazing 😍

DressingGown87 · 11/11/2020 01:16

@Sls668 congratulations on your little girl! Glad your both doing ok, and your happy. I had my birth review yesterday, and said that even though my induction failed and I had a Emergancy (but not rushed) section, that I’m so glad I did and was so happy with the outcome and positive experience. Hope you get lots of rest, first few days are the toughest, but get lots of cuddles in return.

Those who are bottle/ formula feeding, how much and how often are your babes having?

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 11/11/2020 02:35

@Sls668 congratulations, I'm so glad she's finally here for you

1990shopefulftm · 11/11/2020 05:11

@Sls668 congratulations :)

Mc3209 · 11/11/2020 06:16

@Sls668 congratulations on your little baby girl! What helped me post section was regular pain killers, stool softener (you do not want to be constipated now, trust me!), and don't even think about thinking about housework for the next 2 weeks. Lots and lots of cuddles with your little one 🥰

DressingGown87 · 11/11/2020 06:51

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt Paige is formula fed. She will be 4 weeks old on Thursday and is 8lb5 now. She guzzles a 120ml bottle now, so need to increase this.

In the first couple of days she was drinking 150ml max, then 300ml and by the end of week one 400ml. By 10 days until now she has been have been 80-110ml each feed and averages about 600-700ml each 24hr period, this has just slowly increased. She feeds 6/7 times a day. She is usually 3-4hours between day time feeds and longer at night.

Thanks guys, we’re hoping to be discharged today, she’s doing amazing!

A quick query - does anyone have a good feeding app they can recommend? The hospital midwife said to use one while I’m getting used to breastfeeding her but I don’t want one I have to pay endlessly for features

DressingGown87 · 11/11/2020 13:57

@Sls668 glad your both doing well, and can get discharged.

I use baby tracker (has an doodle icon of someone holding a baby with coloured items in the background) to track feeds, sleep and nappies. It’s really good and has helped me massively with the GP and HV. I don’t pay for features. I also have the wonder weeks, to see development stages.

AdventureAhead · 11/11/2020 15:25

@sls668 Second vote here for Baby Tracker, I find it so useful. Takes a few entries to get used to it but it can track breast feeds, nappies, sleep, pumped milk and loads more (or just one of those if you don't want to track all), gives you useful charts to see trends over time and it's free. You can also sync the record with someone else's phone so you and partner can both see and input data. We've found it really useful.

1990shopefulftm · 12/11/2020 09:49

Finally getting to go home today, had a couple of what could be bordering on panic attacks throughout my hospital stay and had a good cry as a consultant refused to let us leave last night, but said my piece more calmly this morning and they ve agreed I can go home after over a week in hospital.

I'm going to look into some sort of counselling in a few weeks time once I ve had a bit more time from the initial trauma, I m missing hours worth of memories from my labour and the flashes I do get are pretty difficult to deal with, 4 to 10cm was quick and a great experience but before then is too much still for me.

SamK93 · 12/11/2020 11:43

Congratulations @Sls668 I'm so happy she's finally here for you! We shared the same due date but have babies more than 4 weeks apart! Hope you're both doing well.

@1990shopefulftm I'm so glad that you will be able to go home today. I remember you mentioning in your pregnancy the fact that you didn't want to be put on a ward at all and wanted to be discharged as soon as possible but you've done so well you've been in hospital for over a week and you've done amazing. All this will be a distant memory soon once your home with baby, definitely seek some counselling if you need to.

Anyone else still pregnant, or are we all done now? I think that's everyone?

WaveStreet · 12/11/2020 14:17

Just checking in! So exciting i think all the little ones are here now?

Our boy was born on Saturday 7/11 by waterbirth. Laboured Friday evening but had some blood early hours of Saturday so went in to be assessed. They kept me on the monitor for ages so i was laying on my back which was horrible. He'd turned the wrong way and gone back to back so i had a constant urge to push from 4cm onwards, it was really hard to fight it and i felt quite unsupported by the midwife looking after me until they called my regular midwife in who luckily was on call that night. She got me the pool i was hoping for and made everything feel so much more relaxed and calm. Was 10cm by 7.30am but the little monkey decided to come out with his hand by his face so took quite a lot of pushing and then some stitches but we're both well. We're breastfeeding which seems to be going ok for now!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 12/11/2020 17:06

How is everyone? I'm recovering ok ish. Been for a walk and struggled a bit and now at home paying the price. I still have SPD pain too.

I had stitches for an internal 2nd degree tear so that feels sore too

Glooorb · 12/11/2020 18:58

Oscar will be 4 weeks this Saturday - how time flies. I've mostly healed up now - I had an episiotomy and the stitches have all dissolved Sometimes I get some pulling sensations but otherwise feel fine. Lochia is now v faint - pretty much done too with bleeding.

Difficulty is still breastfeeding since my milk was delayed after the birth (lost 1.2L of blood) and it was pretty difficult to get back on track. I still don't know if we are actually back on after almost 4 weeks. We are only supplementing with formula a few times every few days now - esp when he cluster feeds. My nipples are still traumatised - that's just going to take time to heal.

I really need sleep... Oscar wouldn't sleep unless on me or husband :c

1990shopefulftm · 12/11/2020 19:02

Been home for a few hours now, baby seems to now be wanting milk every 1.5-2 hours in small amounts and is getting more grumpy about being undressed but I think this is to be expected with his first days of life fighting off sepsis that he ll now pick up a bit. I had an hour nap when we got back which was wonderful, I have another iron infusion next week so hoping I still make progress energy wise before that.

1990shopefulftm · 12/11/2020 19:06

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt have they offered you physio for the SPD at all yet?
@Glooorb with that amount of blood loss it's completely understandable that you feel it took a while to get on track, I hope they ve kept your iron topped up for you.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 12/11/2020 19:38

They offered me physio at 38 weeks but I refused it thinking it would go away after birth (it did with my first). I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow for a home visit so will mention it then

1990shopefulftm · 12/11/2020 22:00

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt sorry to hear it doesn't seem to have gone away afterwards this time.

Sls668 · 12/11/2020 22:47

@SamK93 I can’t believe it either, how crazy. I feel sad already that she’s 2 days old, God knows what I’ll be like when she’s 4 weeks old 😂

Our baby finally has a name, she’s called Zuri 😍

We are fully in the newborn bubble, I don’t want it to ever end. The feeding is hard, she isn’t the best at latching on. A healthcare assistant in the hospital helped us for around an hour at 4am in the hospital and she was amazing, I appreciated that so much! Baby just gets so angry though, the lady was like ‘gosh she really does get annoyed, doesn’t she!!’. I did use a nipple shield on one side today as the pain was quite bad, it really did help!

Flora20 · 13/11/2020 07:58

Ah found the thread again 😂 Congratulations to everyone who's had their babies in the last few days! It feels like forever since I was pregnant, time goes so quickly once baby is born!

Oren is 3 weeks old tomorrow, he's a giant baby - back up to 10lb 14 at 12 days old so I'd imagine he's over 11lb by now 🙈 It's such a contrast to my first who was still hovering around 7lb at this age, he's growing out of everything! But happy and contented and very loveable.

1990shopefulftm · 13/11/2020 16:18

Did you all get home visits from a midwife after discharge?

Was told to expect one today but not had any contact from them, I don't know whether to leave a message on their answerphone as I m not sure as to what baby and I will miss out on if I don't chase them.
