@blodyn91 how do you know this?? 👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻 👏🏻

@FairyLights2 hope all goes well today ❤️ keep ? What time is your scan xx

@LittleRa 👋🏻❤️ how are you? Xx

Bl0ndi3 · 21/09/2020 08:55

That meant to say keep us updated 😂😭🙄

LittleRa · 21/09/2020 09:03

@Bl0ndi3 I’m fine thank you Smile Work (teacher) is just a nightmare though, with members of staff self-isolating awaiting test results meaning staff are spread very thin in school plus our local lockdown here in the north east means grandparents can no longer provide childcare which is causing problems for a lot of us 🤯

Pregnancy wise I’m 16 weeks today and have my 16 week midwife appt on Wednesday.

How are you doing? x

blodyn91 · 21/09/2020 09:07

@Bl0ndi3 on that pregnancy then screwed IG account. On their story they have screen shot some updates from different hospitals now allowing partners at scans! 🤞🤞🤞

mrsmummy1111 · 21/09/2020 09:15

On hold to Harris birthright centre now to ask if hubby can come to my scan today. Keep all your fingers and toes crossed for me!!!!!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Bl0ndi3 · 21/09/2020 09:16

@blodyn91 oooh I can't find it 😭 I'll keep an eye out on my hospital trusts Facebook page for any updates over the next few days. I'm fairly confident by the time my 12 week scan comes around in November it will have changed but hopefully it changes sooner for everybody closer to their scan date than me!

@LittleRa oh that sounds really tough! Make sure you're looking after yourself and bump when you're at home and away from work. You need some downtime and to relax after crazy times at work.

Exciting!!! is your appointment Face to face? Fingers crossed you can hear the heartbeat ❤️

Bl0ndi3 · 21/09/2020 09:17

@mrsmummy1111 EVERYTHING CROSSED 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Bl0ndi3 · 21/09/2020 09:40

I don't really think I need to be doing any more tests for reassurance 😂🥰😍❤️

mrsmummy1111 · 21/09/2020 09:40

No change in London 😭

Bl0ndi3 · 21/09/2020 09:46

@mrsmummy1111 awww no ☹️ what time is your scan today. ❤️

zippityzip · 21/09/2020 10:12

@mrsmummy1111 Yep I checked for my scan tomorrow and they said no too 😒

I'm quite worried about maternity care actually. Especially as things seem to be heading in the wrong direction again.

Thing is I know what my DH is like - and if I've given birth and they tell him to piss off straight away he will just kick off.

zippityzip · 21/09/2020 10:13

@Bl0ndi3 looking good! Have you registered for your midwife yet?

Bl0ndi3 · 21/09/2020 10:17

@zippityzip yeah I rang last week and have my booking in appointment on 13th October :) I'll be bob on 8 weeks based on my calculators but my early scan is 10th October so I'll have a better idea of dates by then.

❤️

zippityzip · 21/09/2020 10:19

Also ladies wondering whether or not to get second hand etc.

I was so anal about NEW stuff with my first baby.

Now this is my third people are offering me prams and cot beds and all sorts and I'm damn well taking it. The baby will NOT remember what buggy they were in. The baby will NOT know if their clothes were brand new. Plus some of this stuff is AMAZING and like new. I've got a full travel system, buggy, bassinet, isofix base, footmuff, rain cover and stroller for £100. It's clean and almost brand new bar one scratch on the chassis which you wouldn't even notice. It's a cosatto giggle in neutral colours.

Plus the amount of money I'm saving means we can put more into the house and decorating it which is more long term.

I'm hoping to start a stash of nappies soon 🥰🥰 and just get a few bits in my weekly food shop. Lidl is fab for baby stuff. I got a haakaa pump in aldi for £4.

Also - I plan on getting all the weaning bits etc so when I'm poor and on Mat leave I'm already prepared with my plastic bowls and Tupperware 😂😂

I'm so sad. But finally getting excited about it now.

mrsmummy1111 · 21/09/2020 10:20

Oh agreed @zippityzip !!!! There's absolutely no way he will gladly get up and leave a few hours after I've given birth. There's about 101% chance he will kick off. A few weeks ago I was feeling confident that by March / April things should be slightly better, but the way things are going I'm really not sure anymore.

I'm also just a bit fucked off that I've got to go to this scan all alone. Nobody knows what's going to happen when I get there and the thought of going through it alone just seems cruel.

zippityzip · 21/09/2020 10:21

Ohhhh @Bl0ndi3 so exciting!!!!

zippityzip · 21/09/2020 10:22

@mrsmummy1111 Glad I'm not alone in that worry!!! I would have spent hundreds on scans by the time the baby is born just to make him feel part of this pregnancy. I really think we've been forgotten in all this.

Can I ask which hospital you picked (don't worry if you don't want to share!)

Bl0ndi3 · 21/09/2020 10:28

@zippityzip ahh thanks lovely! I think that's really clever to start stock piling slowly now as you'll save yourself the hassle in the long run! I'm hoping to save up enough money starting now so that my outgoings are all covered and I can just live off the SMP when that starts but going to be skint so need to plan ahead for sure!!

I'm definitely going to keep my eye on deals on eBay and Facebook market place for things!

mrsmummy1111 · 21/09/2020 10:32

Great plan @zippityzip. I've kept EVERYTHING from my son, but if the next ones a boy I basically don't need to buy anything clothing wise as there's almost exactly 2 years apart so all the sizes are the right seasons. Plus my next door neighbour had her second (and last) 2 weeks after me, a little girl, and she's already said if it's a girl then whatever I want is ours. I bought so much shit for DS that I either a) never used, or b) is covered in shit or sick. Often both.
I also already ordered the Aldi knockoff of the trip trapp which finally came back in stock and was £50. We have a stupidly expensive one that looks nice at first, until it's got weetabix cemented onto it. So that's going on fb marketplace and the cheap one is being kept. If anyone wants a high chair then I'd really recommend the Aldi one. Luckily the majority of big things we still have - weaning stuff, bouncy chairs, cot / crib etc. So baby #2 is getting everything handed down!

Bl0ndi3 · 21/09/2020 10:35

@mrsmummy1111 whilst you've said that....

What's all you experienced mummy's list of must haves and don't bothers?

As a first time mum I think I'll be easily sucked into buying EVERYTHING but I'm trying to be conscious of that and research what I should get now, wait and see and not to even bother with

zippityzip · 21/09/2020 11:12

@Bl0ndi3 A nappy bin - and a wipe warmer.
Fucking wipe warmer honestly.

Just get nappy sacks.

Don't get a changing table you'll be changing baby everywhere and won't go upstairs especially to change a nappy. Just get a fold out mat for your bag if out and about.

Perfect prep - totally unnecessary as making bottles isn't difficult but can get why people want it for ease. But I heard that it causes issues with filters etc.

Specific over priced "changing bag" just find a bag you actually like with pockets. Plenty more on eBay and amazon half the price.

Also the hook on prams to hang shopping bags off - don't buy a baby branded one. You can get the clips online for pennies as they are literally just abseiling hooks.

zippityzip · 21/09/2020 11:15

Also high chairs - get cheapest one with the least amount of crevices as possible. Food will go everywhere and it'll just get stained.

What I did love - a bouncy chair thing (to put the baby down) and a play mat (only as a we have wooden floors).

Bath seats are epic - two hands to wash and no constant panic of trying to keep hold of a slippery newborn. Don't get a specific baby bath.

zippityzip · 21/09/2020 11:19

Do get a night light for night feeds. You reallllllly don't want to be turning lights on and waking them up when you want to settle them back down again.

Mococo1 · 21/09/2020 12:28

Wow ladies thank so much for advice❤️

Sorry for those where partners can't come

I would love to buy second hand stuff but my sister in-law (who is buying our pram) just keeps banging on about guarantees and how the car seat,Isofix, pram etc all will add up to 2k - I certainly wouldn't spend that much money on my child - and I'm struggling to let her do it (she has to have the best of the best but I keep thinking her money will be spent better elsewhere like on herself lol!) how do I say this without hurting her feelings - I just want her to not overspend on this baby 😂 it upsets me when people do it unnecessarily ☹️☹️☹️😩 such a waste give your money to charity pleaseeeeee

blodyn91 · 21/09/2020 12:35

@zippityzip very nice list there! Thank you!
Im waiting for my scan next Monday before I start buying stuff, but also thinking of asking for some stuff for Christmas. Like my gran can get us a high chair, my brother a bouncy seat thing etc. all for second hand though, its better for the environment 😆 and my bank account
