@Sussexbysea I also like the idea of a small Facebook group.

(Unrelatedly, talking about baby sleeping in the office has me picturing an infant sleeping in a suit in an office building. 😂)

Phie04 · 18/09/2020 19:00

Relating to facebook groups - I'd much prefer a smaller group of that just consisting of the people on this forum. I don't particularly want to be part of a bit group, just a small network. As we have all been speaking with each other so regularly on this I feel we already know each other a bit? What do the rest if you think?

I did look at groups on facebook and some of them had over 1000 members!!! I'm not into that.

Hi everyone I've been off grid this week trying to keep my head straight for exam and then deal with our unexpected news. Antenatal screening and urine pregnancy tests came up in the exam, how ironic!

@Sussexbysea really pleased to hear your reassuring news, what a relief x

Thank you everyone for thinking of me. We had out fetal medicine appointment and CVS today. Biggest concern is Edwards or Pataus with high NT, low hcg and low PAPP-A. Just taking it one test at a time for now, we know we'll have a TFMR if there's any serious genetic condition. Trying to remain grateful for all the good things we have, the fact we already have our wonderful son and that we have found out early in the pregnancy. If anyone finds themselves in a similar position and want to talk please PM me. CVS wasn't too bad, pretty quick.

It's hard not to worry about your pregnancies but please be rest assured that generally everything is WAY more likely to all be OK x

Also been getting some round ligament pain the past two days. Really starting to bother me as it just feels like a dull ache in my lower back then a sharp twinge if I move funny. I know I should get used to being in pain but at least during labour and birth you get a baby after it all! Id much rather pain than constant nausea and sickness though it's definitely more manageable. So glad I'm in trimester 2.

ValidUser · 18/09/2020 19:13

@Usplusone tough week for you! Hoping all comes back clear and there's no need to consider TFMR. Do you have a long wait for CVS results?

Sussexbysea · 18/09/2020 19:13

@LottieDot call your screening midwifes on Monday, I’m sure they’ll give you the information you want over the phone.

Sussexbysea · 18/09/2020 19:16

@Usplusone I’m so sorry to hear you are having to go through this.

Does your NHS trust do the NIPT/SAFE test or have you had to go straight for cvs after your combined screening? We’re here for you if you need someone to vent to about this xx

Luckily no, the trisomy testing takes 3-5 days then the extended genetic testing takes 2 weeks. Luckily on leave next week, and can work from home until I know more for certain so I can avoid explaining the bump to people. It's sad cos even if all is fine it's going to be a very different experience of pregnancy compared to the first. But I am so lucky that we had a normal first pregnancy and I realise a lot of you have had prior sad experiences

Sussexbysea · 18/09/2020 19:20

@Phie04 I’ve got a bad left hip and what I think is sciatica too. I need to mention it to the midwife.

Something I’m experiencing this time round is errrrr.... wetting myself. The shame!!!! Not huge amounts but I feel damp. I’m starting to do my pelvic floor exercises Now and see if that helps but I’ll be mentioning it to the midwife too.

aureliacecilia · 18/09/2020 19:21

@LottieDot I'm waiting on screening tests too. They said they would ring within 5 days if I was a high risk. Nothing yet but I only had the bloods on Tuesday. The sonographer said everything looked as it should so I assume that means the NT measurement was fine. Waiting to hear more - had a call from an unknown number this afternoon (it was the midwife booking my 16 week appointment) and my heart nearly stopped.

@Usplusone I am very sorry you're having a difficult time and waiting for more information. I hope you get some answers soon and that the outcome is positive.

@holb54 Thanks for being our chief organiser - thread starter and Facebook coordinator! I like the smaller group idea too.

Thanks that's kind, I'll try not to bring the mood down though and post too much about it! Keeping an eye on this thread gives me a little bit of hope.

I'm in Wales so would have been offered NIPT if it was just the bloods. Cos of the scan as well they recommended CVS or amnio

aureliacecilia · 18/09/2020 19:23

@Sussexbysea Good reminder for me to do some pelvic floor exercises. Have a look at pelvic girdle pain too - it's what I have. My midwife is going to refer me for physio at 16 weeks. I hope this means I won't have to get signed off work and dosed up on cocodamol this time! It's pretty intermittent at the moment but it was really bad Tuesday afternoon and I was being overtaken by literally everyone inc. the frail-looking elderly when I was out for a walk as I couldn't walk quickly because of the pain.

Scottishgirl89 · 18/09/2020 19:24

Is anyone struggling with dry skin? I had eczema as a child all of a sudden I now have horrible red patches between my knees which are very itchy and spreading.

Usplusone · 18/09/2020 19:25

Also look up the squeezy app if you haven't heard of it. Good for pelvic floor 💪

Danni2021 · 18/09/2020 19:36

@emmafou1807 I have my scan on Tuesday think we may be the last few to have our scans on this chat. Good luck with yours! I genuinely feel so nervous, I’ve been very lucky with minimal symptoms and I keep having dreams that I go for the scan and they say I’ve made it up! It almost feels like that at this stage, no bump etc and all you’ve done is pee on a stick that flashes up pregnant 🤣 does it feel different after the 12 week scan ladies?

Sussexbysea · 18/09/2020 19:37

@Usplusone it’s crazy how different everywhere is. My bloods were high and we have/had increased fluid of 3.5mm too. At least with a CVS it’s diagnostic, hope your wait isn’t too much longer x

Sussexbysea · 18/09/2020 19:39

@Scottishgirl89 my daughter suffers in the winter with it. We use epiderm which works wonders for her. You can buy it in boots etc but I think it’s about £20 for a huge tub x

Bouncycastle12 · 18/09/2020 19:42

Just found out I’m 4+0 and due on 28 May! Have a toddler. Slightly terrified!

Bouncycastle12 · 18/09/2020 20:01

Ha - sorry wrong thread!

SnickerdoodleSnek · 18/09/2020 20:02

@Danni2021 It definitely feels more real once you've had the scan. Despite having two very positive tests, nothing reassured me that I was actually pregnant like seeing baby on the ultrasound. ❤️

emmafou1807 · 18/09/2020 20:04

I know what you mean about it not feeling real @dani2021 I've been crazy sick, all the good signs are there but can't wait to just see Baba on the screen.

emmafou1807 · 18/09/2020 20:17

Is anyone else still going to bed super early despite technically being in second trimester? My energy levels have definitely increased so I'm not as flat during the day but I still need to be in bed and asleep by latest 9pm and it's usually 8pm. I'll then sleep through until 8am the next day 🙈 is there such a thing as too much sleep when pregnant?!

holb54 · 18/09/2020 20:21

@Jebbs thank you, had a look into it and seems really simple, will probably make it private with an obscure name just to be doubly safe for anyone not wanting to go public yet!

@Usplusone hope you gets the results you want (and that they come back speedy), will be thinking of you over the next few days 💛

Danni2021 · 18/09/2020 20:56

Thanks @SnickerdoodleSnek I can’t wait to see that screen so it all feels real. I think when you can talk to people about it, it will feel more real too!
@emmafou1807 aww sorry to hear about your sickness. I’ve had nausea but nothing major. My mum says the worry I feel never goes away now, each stage through pregnancy then having a child has its worries 🤣🤣🤣 this must be our bodies preparing us haha

Thack · 18/09/2020 21:57

You've described my experience exactly @Danni2021 I was relieved that the baby was in my belly and not just in my head!! It was quite 'wow' when they ran the probe over and I could see that there was something in there and watch the little heartbeat.
My scan was Wednesday. It's still sinking in but telling the family has started to make it more real.
