Bleeding at 6 weeks

I’ve started having some bright red bleeding this afternoon. I’m 6 weeks pregnant and have had a frozen embryo transferred from ivf for this pregnancy . No clots or cramping but it’s quite a bit of red blood covering the tissue when I wipe and into the loo (sorry if tmi). I’ve phoned the clinic and they said to come in for a scan tomorrow morning and bleeding can happen and be ok, but I’m thinking it’s a miscarriage. Any positive stories from anyone who has had similar?

Hi Op. Hugs for you. I bled at 6 weeks off and on for 2 weeks some days were pretty heavy and my DS is now nearly 7. My midwife managed to get me in for an early internal scan.

It is so scary. And I am sorry it is happening x

Oneandabean · 09/09/2020 22:08

I can’t give any advice but hope everything is ok at the scan tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you

ShalomToYouJackie · 09/09/2020 22:14

I can't give any advice but the early pregnancy nurse said to me this afternoon that from around 6 weeks they expect bleeding and it is normal. Lots of women do bleed and go on to be fine. Hope everything is ok xx

Hi OP, I bled at 6 weeks but it was pinky brown blood. I'd had three previous miscarriages. GP sent me straight to an obstetrician who put me on progesterone and baby aspirin. Bleeding stopped after a day and a half. Currently 16 weeks pregnant!

Bearcub01 · 09/09/2020 22:53

I had bright red bleeding at 6 weeks after going for a poo. It definitely came from the front though then turned into brown spotting. Called my GP and got referred to EPU for a scan, baby was all fine and flickering heartbeat could be seen. They said it was probably just an implantation bleed. I didn’t know it could happen then but apparently it’s pretty normal around 6/7 weeks.

Greenleaves20 · 09/09/2020 23:00

Thanks for your responses, I really hope it’s going to be ok but will update tomorrow after the scan

@Greenleaves20 from week 5-9 I was bleeding as though I was on a heavy period, went for scan I was too early to detect a heartbeat- feared the worst. Rebooked for a scan and found a healthy heartbeat, they said bleeding was down to a clot in my womb caused by everything starting to stretch. Had no trouble since, currently due in 2 weeks with my baby girl! Hope your situation is similar fingers crossed for you xxx

Sending you so much luck tomorrow please keep us updated 💕

So... bleeding had slowed down by this morning and only a few spots. Went for a scan and sac with baby and heartbeat seen! Can’t believe it! The Dr could see where the bleeding had come from but said there wasn’t a big haematoma and hopefully that would be it, and to carry on as normal 🥳

Yep. All my pregnancies both successful and not I had bleeding early on. It can be absolutely fine but sometimes not. Hope it's ok for you.

chubbyhotchoc · 10/09/2020 12:28

God I should really read whole thread! Great news op!

ShalomToYouJackie · 10/09/2020 13:44

So pleased for you OP!

Greenleaves20 · 10/09/2020 13:59

Oh fab news op!

Greenleaves20 · 11/09/2020 19:06

Does this rollercoaster ever end? Got some pinky colour light spotting this evening. So terrified it’s going to get worse and end in a MC 😢
Any advice? I’m just wondering if I should try and rest as much as possible? I know that’s not the guidance but it feels like it’s probably a good idea!

Op i sympathise, my first pregnancy i bled awful until around 14 weeks, couldn't even stand going to the toilet anymore because i knew what i was going to see. Doctors also found a haematoma in me and it just kept bleeding, refilling and then bleeding until it finally bled out! DD was born at 41 weeks though weighing a healthy 7.8, only advise i was given was no sex and take it easy with lifting!

Greenleaves20 · 11/09/2020 19:36

@strawberriesunited yeah, I’m terrified every time I go to the loo. Did you rest or carry on as normal? I have a toddler and my husband is doing a lot of the childcare when he can but on my days off work I have to look after him myself. Also wondering if I should take some time off work.. my job is mostly on my feet all day and I’m a bit worried

Hi all, I'm currently 5+2 and have been bleeding for 4 days now, started off very light pink but is now moderately heavy bright red with very small clots. A lot of lower back pain and some period-type cramps. I had a miscarriage earlier in the year with similar symptoms so I'm really struggling to stay positive here :'( did anyone else experience cramping/back pain with the bleeding with a positive ending please? My scan isn't while Wednesday and I need to hold on to some hope to get me through..

LST · 12/09/2020 10:42

Hi OP. I rested for the full 2 weeks I was bleeding. (As much as I could with a toddler anyway). The Dr signed me off work for 2 weeks. How are you today?

Greenleaves20 · 12/09/2020 11:21

@LST I taking some time off work is a good idea. No more bleeding, just feeling like I’ve got a horrendous hangover all the time. Was up vomiting in the night. I know I should be grateful for the symptoms but lm finding it all quite hard to deal with with the worry of bleeding as well 😞

I think definitely rest, my mum had 4 miscarriages before having me and my brother, and with those pregnancies she was told to rest completely. She finished work early and went off sick Before starting Mat leave. Then we were both born Healthy (3 years apart)

SkyeBarn · 13/09/2020 11:47

@Bazshaz I had those symptoms but my blood was more brown/red and I got told two days ago I have a small hematoma. If you can't wait until Wednesday you may be able to go over to a&e? I was supposed to wait 3/4 days but my midwife said if you're too stressed go over to a&e.

LBTM · 13/09/2020 12:01

I'm so glad to hear that your scan went well. I was a nervous wreck after bleeding early on after a previous loss. I talked to my gp (midwife would be fine too) and got referred to perinatal mental health. I had a few appointments and found it helpful to keep anxiety down a bit, also helpful to be on the system in case my mental health got worse. All was fine in the end. X

Bazshaz · 13/09/2020 12:22

@SkyeBarn that's reassuring, thank you for sharing. It's the back pain that's worrying me, coupled with the bleeding I'm assuming the worst. Not many stories of a positive ending with back pain + bleeds :/ I ring EPU daily to request an earlier scan but no luck... They keep offering for a doc to check my cervix but my mind won't rest until it's confirmed on a scan and if baby is ok, then poking around won't help matter. Nothing to do but wait I'm afraid
