@KatieG200394 haha same as my family then lol! We will see! I'm finding out at 16 weeks so my partner can be there too

Usplusone · 12/09/2020 20:14

Is deluxe the one that turns itself on?? If so, I would say yes! We used ours so much we had to change the batteries once a month. I'm sure it doesn't help settle every baby but it did for us and the tune isn't too annoying either!

LandMammal · 12/09/2020 21:24

@BatKat I'll be 16 wks onTuesday and after 14weeks I thought things had improved re. nausea, but last week it hit me for 6. Very bad nausea for 2 days! Overall though, I'd say it has improved post the 14 week mark...just stay positive and try and snack?! I found the nausea was at its worst when I didn't eat little and often😁
Bloating has certainly more or less vanished 👌🏼

KatieG200394 · 12/09/2020 22:47

@chloxhunt that's what I'm doing too! Can't wait til the 23rd 🥰
@Usplusone yeah I think so, okay cool, thank you for the advice ☺

chloxhunt · 12/09/2020 22:48

KatieG200394 · 12/09/2020 23:26

Omg snap on scan dates again! 😂 This is getting spooky now! I'm hoping 4 weeks will fly by, but if the last scan is anything to go by then it'll feel like 4 months!

We haven't started buying yet. We've looked at options but wanted to wait until the 12 week scan. Luckily our SIL still has some things from when she was pregnant with her DD so we can have them (or at least borrow them just in case she has any more children)! And close friends have already asked us to make a list of what we'll need to they can contribute, which is hugely appreciated since we know there's going to be a lot of expense!!

GreysLove · 13/09/2020 07:56

Hey all, scans are looking great I'm having fun guessing what you're all having and looks like I won't need to wait too long to find out if right! We're waiting for a surprise, it's our first so feel.like it's an experience well never get back!

Just wondering if anyone is suffering badly with constipation? I have had a miserable weekend so far, hadn't gone in 5 days (tmi sorry) but safe to say it was an ordeal - a glimpse of things to come in 6 months time! Lol even though I've gone I'm still mega bloated, painful gas and wishing I'd taken out shares in Gaviscon before getting pregnant! Has anyone been told which softeners are safe for pregancy? Or am I best calling GP? I have a bleeding pile (defo tmi!) and have some other symptoms I'd like to ask about like my nipples sometimes feeling like they're on fire?!

I'm 11+2 today still got morning sickness but holding on to the fact that it should ease in a couple weeks, but the constipation and painful gas could last the whole time and that makes me want to cry!

KatieG200394 · 13/09/2020 08:40

@GreysLove a surprise is exciting, I'm far too impatient to do that, my Mum did when she was pregnant with me and my twin brother but I definitely do not have her patience skills lol amd oh no, bless you 😔 I did a bit in the beginning and I do still have painful gas 😫 but tmi here but I geel like I've turned a corner as now I seem to be able to go but with a vengeance as I'm now going multiple times throughout the day 🙄😂 hope you feel better soon

TheFoz · 13/09/2020 08:49

@GreysLove I’d be looking at natural ways to help you go rather than meds. Do you eat fresh fruit and veg? Grapes and prunes are fantastic laxatives. You need to drink plenty of water and eat fibre. If you are doing all that and it isn’t helping then definitely pay a visit to your GP. And the nipples are normal! But they should ease into the second trimester.

Driftwood2000 · 13/09/2020 08:57

@GreysLove are you a taking multivitamins? I found that the iron in my pregnacare was making me constipated. I stopped taking it and I went back to normal within 3 days I would say. I now mainly have folic acid with vitamin D and then have 2 or 3 days in the week where I take pregnacare. It seems to have worked as I haven't had any constipation since. Hope this helps 😁

GreysLove · 13/09/2020 09:06

Thanks ladies, will try those things. I'm good with drinking lots of water but could be better with fruit. Having special k and banana right now.

@driftwood2000 yeah I'm taking pregnacare original. At my booking app midwife gave me a letter to give to GP to put me on additional iron. I'm in Scotland and apparently due to COVID they're proactively putting everyone on iron regardless of what the bloods say. I mentioned that I was taking a multivitamin Inc iron not just folic and D, and she said I'd still be told to take it! I've got the fear now if it is the vitamins causing the constipation- I sure as hell don't want to take any more. Tbh she wasn't that great as I asked about taking a separate calcium supplement as I don't eat a lot of dairy (a small amount of cheddar now and again but mostly almond milk) cos it gives me gas and she said I'd be fine. I don't feel like there's enough calcium in a dairy free diet to support babies bones and protect me? I might go see a pharmacist...

Usplusone · 13/09/2020 09:32

Hey sorry to hear about the stomach issues, I can definitely sympathise. I went to my pharmacy and they advised fybogel and said simeticone (windeze) was safe for gas as its not absorbed - just to limit to when I need it. I'm still struggling to stomach prunes but grapes and celery seem to help, also chia seeds and drinking lots of water.
Depending on your brand of almond milk it may be supplemented with the dairy equivalent of calcium x

CC5321 · 13/09/2020 09:33

Hi everyone, I’m new to this group! Hope everyone is well? Congrats to all! Was nice to read everyone’s msgs & similar experiences Smile I’m due 5th March so just over 15 wks, excited but still not feeling like it’s 100% real! No bump Yet just a big old bloat and extra chub! How is everyone feeling?

chloxhunt · 13/09/2020 09:39

@SnickerdoodleSnek aye we must be scan besties or something lol
I'm not buying anything till I know the sex so I know what I can actually buy and it'll just make it easier

KatyCherry23 · 13/09/2020 09:43

@GreysLove I second trying dietary changes before medication. The Ps are good for constipation pears, prunes and porridge. You have to make sure you have enough soluble and insoluble fibre to keep you regular as the poop needs bulk (all the insoluble waste from veggies) but also it needs soluble fibre (oats, bran, apples) to draw water into the poop to make it softer. psyllium husk works well, it's in stuff like fibregel, it tastes rank but it makes everything a bit softer and easier to pass.

KatyCherry23 · 13/09/2020 09:49

@GreysLove Although I will add please don't see a pharmacist about dietary requirements and supplements. I had a heated argument about nutrition with a pharmacist before as she was trying to tell me she knew more than me about diabetic dietary requirements even though I am a nutritionist. Pharmacist don't have any nutritional training indepth enough to make recommendations unless they have gone and done another degree. You can absolutely ask to be referred to a nutritionist or dietician through your gp but it's so hit and miss and depends on the resources available so you might need to go private.

Taylortyler · 13/09/2020 10:04

@KatyCherry23 @GreysLove you can buy psyllium husk in powder form from Holland and Barrett I used to drink it in protein shakes because I had a high protein diet (when I was once a gym bunny) but you could put it in a smoothie, on its own it's fairly hideous though

KatyCherry23 · 13/09/2020 10:11

@Taylortyler is horrible isn't it. I had it so often last pregnancy I think I'm used to the taste. The orange flavour I can do if I drink it fast like a shot 😂😂😂

Thack · 13/09/2020 11:32

Hi @CC5321 welcome! How have you found it so far? Is this your first?

@GreysLove my MW said that anything that says stool softener is OK and said to have three litres a day (which I'm filling at!). I had recommendations for prune juice here, but I keep forgetting to get some, it's not on the usual shopping list for sure!

chloxhunt · 13/09/2020 11:39

@CC5321 welcome! I don't feel like it's real yet either 😂 I'm due 22nd March!

s4r4h84 · 13/09/2020 12:46

Hi is it ok if I join ? I’m 12 +3 and this is my 3rd baby. I have been suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum up until now, but this week it’s starting to get a bit better, so ready to join in the chat!

ValidUser · 13/09/2020 12:48

@GreysLove horribly constipated too! I went nearly 2 weeks without a proper bowel movement. Eventually took stool softeners and had some relief, but that was short lived.

Phie04 · 13/09/2020 13:03

Does anyone know where I can buy some baby grows with feet and those foldable mittens attached? All the ones I'm finding I either need to buy mittens or socks. I just want it to be easy the first few weeks and not have to fiddle around with socks. Plus it will be easier for OH when they will be so tiny! I can just imagine him getting stressed out with the sock process 😂
