@nearlyamummyof2boys sounds like that would be the best thing for your baby to be out and in neonatal and you'll get to meet him very soon which is lovely! 💙. Will they keep you in hospital for two more weeks or will they let you go home if you don't go into spontaneous labour and bring you back in?

nearlyamummyof2boys · 22/09/2020 12:25

@NaomiB79 I'm not sure yet! I think it depends on if they find an infection today or tomorrow. I'm moving house on Thursday and have 1 year old who's never been away from me. Obviously we need to do what's best for baby - but if I don't go into labour by wed I might ask to go and have bed rest at home as I'm 5 mins drive from the hospital? Will see how it all goes!

NaomiB79 · 22/09/2020 12:25

@Asianchick6693 I would get signed off sick between now and when your baby comes. As your policy says, in this scenario your mat leave will kick in at 36 weeks and there isn't much you can do about that, but the period between now and then would be sick leave related to complications of pregnancy, which based on what you said the last time shouldn't affect your final written warning for absence as it is pregnancy related.

Your annual leave should accrue whilst you are on leave and if you have any leave that you were due to take between now and when you were due to go on mat leave you should be able to carry that forward which might be one way to extend your leave slightly at the end of your mat leave, if you have to start it before you had planned. You get leave back if you are off sick. You'll need a note from your gp to cover you for the sickness absence so would get an appointment with them as soon as you can.

I work in HR so that would be my advice but every company does things differently so might be worth checking anything you are unsure of with your HR team. I would also mention the lack of risk assessment to them or your Health and Safety team as that is not on!

Babyhope98 · 22/09/2020 12:28

The way I would interpret that is that you will take your maternity at 36 weeks if you’ve been off sick leading up to the 36 weeks. So they can’t make you go early on maternity if you’re off sick until 36 weeks. Just need your doctors sick notes I presume after you’ve been off for a week and however long you need thereafter as being off sick until 36 weeks x

NaomiB79 · 22/09/2020 12:31

@nearlyamummyof2boys that makes sense and to ask if you can go home if things are okay. Hopefully if they do let you home you will be able to rest and resist getting too involved in the house move 😂. Take care and keep us posted with how you are getting on x

nearlyamummyof2boys · 22/09/2020 12:34

@NaomiB79 oh don't worry I will be lying down and pointing where to put things the whole time lol

Babyhope98 · 22/09/2020 12:44

I know it would have been preferable to go full term but exciting that you know you’ll meet him within two weeks! 😆 you’ve been through so much I can’t wait until he’s here safe and well 🥰 @nearlyamummyof2boys

Asianchick6693 · 22/09/2020 12:51

@NaomiB79 @Babyhope98 thanks girls I can't help but feel a little pathetic for feeling this way so early on but I've had it all the way through this pregnancy and just put up with it. I'll speak to my GP tomorrow. I think I definitely sacrificed my own health and peace of mind this pregnancy just for the sake of wanting to do my best at work. Sounds silly I know. I should have and could have taken a lot more time off with my MS being so bad and what not but I just ploughed through it all. I think now I've reached my limit and my colleagues have been lovely and also said I need to think about myself.

Physio has also been useless as it's only been telephone consultations right from the beginning and she's not been very reliable either as in wasted my time on numerous appointments and called me on the wrong dates etc. I really appreciate all your advice.

viixie · 22/09/2020 13:16

Can I join this group even though I'm due 16th December ? Grin

Kj1010 · 22/09/2020 13:51

@viixie of course you can welcome it's a great group and I'm due the 13th december

excitednerves · 22/09/2020 15:07

@nearlyamummyof2boys thinking of you! Hope everything is going OK and hope you get home soon. 34 weeks is a decent gestation for a preemie, and you're right, neonatal are incredible. Fingers crossed you're able to go home and rest in your new home too!

excitednerves · 22/09/2020 15:23

I've got definite pelvis ache today. Normally I get some relief Tues-Thurs as DS is at nursery while I work, but not today. Just plain achey.

I've also had an urge to finish my hospital bag. I picked up two pairs of PJs in Sainsburys the other day which I really like. Think I might still invest in more, I don't think I've bought pyjamas since DS was born! I also need to get all of DS's newborn stuff out and washed. So may jobs to do. I'll be 30 weeks on Saturday and I think when the countdown gets into single digits, it's going to fly in.

@peachypetite Yes I'm feeling tired quite a lot, sleeping a full night and then having naps during the day too. I have little energy spurts in the day and go from that to exhausted in 10 seconds flat!

Sympathy for those who have PGP, I'm suffering too, I haven't actually mentioned it to my midwife yet but I'd have to see her to mention it.....

Pinktruffle · 22/09/2020 16:04

Sorry that should be @peachypetals!

peachypetite · 22/09/2020 16:19

If anyone needs nursery stuff or snuzpod etc John Lewis have 20% off

lc86 · 22/09/2020 16:53

Had the consultant today about whether I want a vbac or elcs, I'm still so undecided. Have been booked in for a growth scan at 36 weeks to see if that helps me decide.. also had bloods taken last week with the midwife and results show I'm anaemic and my thyroid levels still aren't right so they also need to increase my medication for that.. i feel so tired all the time but so much I want to get done also. Having a real feel sorry for myself day today, sorry to moan!

Kj1010 · 22/09/2020 17:26

Had a phone consult today with a doctor not my consultant they cant understand why my growth scan was cancelled so she booking me one for 30 weeks which is a week and half away also have to go to my clinic tomoz morning for bloods was told last ones showed a little low so they wanna see if I need iron tablets then I have to travel to the hospital to get the prescription for the clexhane injections then go to antenatal to see a midwife to show me how to inject them does anyone else have to have them ?

Babyhope98 · 22/09/2020 18:15

How’s the omeprazole going @chubbyhotchoc my heartburn has come back a bit today hope I won’t have to up the dose and it’s just a one off 😖 I’ve been loving life these past few days 😩

Babyhope98 · 22/09/2020 18:23

Thank you @peachypetite just brought some stuff that I’ve been meaning to get and it was a bit cheaper 😆

Jellycat2020 · 22/09/2020 19:06

@nearlyamummyof2boys I really feel for you! Have been following your story and I'm amazed at just how strong you are. I'm keeping everything crossed that things work out OK for you and your little man 😘

@chubbyhotchoc yes to heartburn, I've been necking Gaviscon like anything 😩 sleeping upright isn't helping my back or hips either.

I'm a bit further along than some of you - I'm 32 + 3 today. We have basic hospital bags packed - one for me, one for baby and one for husband. We went away last week and I was paranoid she was going to come early so we too them all with us! Nursery is also painted and I've just done a monster Amazon order too 😊

Jwl45 · 22/09/2020 19:23

@Jellycat2020
I'm 32+4 today and yet to do my hospital bag. I have read lists upon lists what to pack...and still 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I will be having a C-section so don't know how long you're in for with that these days .. and have no idea what bag to take... 😬

peachypetite · 22/09/2020 19:25

@nearlyamummyof2boys how you doing?

december2020 · 22/09/2020 19:30

Hi!
I'm due 15th December and a FTM.
Would I be able to join this thread even though it's not really early December?
The thread I'm on for my due date has gone quite silent.

28 weeks exactly today. Now entering the final stretch (literally)!
