Just to say I've just seen the nicest midwife who was so supportive and totally understood how I feel about still being a twin pregnancy and not dismissing the baby I lost! So there are really good ones out there 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Pinktruffle · 09/09/2020 15:36

Its lovely to hear you had such a positive appointment with your midwife @nearlyamummyof2boys.

I'm getting really fed up of my maternity care, I feel like a complete and utter afterthought, even that is probably a bit generous!

I had my 28 week appointment yesterday and my midwife is on annual leave (which she is more than entitled to be) but hadn't let me know. So one midwife was running 2 clinics and was a bit stressed out. I had my bloods taken at the hospital at the end of last week and assumed I would also be having my gestational diabetes test at the same time as that's what I had been previously told. However the hospital said it was blood test only, they had no referral for a GD test and I needed to speak to my midwife. I bought it up with her yesterday and she had a go at me saying I should of had it done at the hospital and its nothing to do with her. She then started complaining about having to follow it up for me as she had 2 clinics to run and now had another job to do (I empathise but this is not my fault). She said she would call the hospital and give me a ring today, and also give me an appointment for my 31 weeks appointment. All day has passed and I've heard nothing. I dont even know what the midwife is called to chase it up and my midwifes phone is still switched off. I was also meant to have a referral to the consultant midwife to discuss my birth options and that still hasn't happened. They are turning me in to an anxious mess.

To add insult to injury, I was chatting to a lady in the waiting room who is having her 4th child, she is 30 years old and low risk (she was at 26 weeks) and she has seen a midwife face to face or everyone of her appointments! I had to beg and plead to see one face to face for my 25 week appointment as I'd seen no one and had a couple of risk factors. How can the same Trust give such different levels of service?!

Awkes · 09/09/2020 15:59

Well apparently you do have to drink loads. They left me for half hour with a full bladder so lucky I never wet myself. Baby is well but rather large 😂

chubbyhotchoc · 09/09/2020 16:37

@nearlyamummyof2boys I'm so sorry you're going through this. You've just had the most awful time of it

lionsmum · 09/09/2020 17:13

Thank you for all your well wishes! @danielasummer @Awkes @Kj1010 @NaomiB79 @jalu47 apart from soreness and stiffness we are both ok😊 something happened to the other driver and they ended up in our lane, totally unavoidable sadly!

@nearlyamummyof2boys what a time you're having I'm so sorry to hear, glad you have had contact with a supportive MW though it makes all the difference. I hope everything turns out to be ok with your little one, sending lots of love!

The disappointment some have experienced in the service with this pregnancy is so sad, I know it's difficult times with COVID ect but seems so many health professionals don't have a clue what's going on. Praying this final trimester goes quickly for us all and we all have our little ones in our arms with the pregnancy woes being a distant memory💖

nearlyamummyof2boys · 09/09/2020 18:07

Thanks @lionsmum 😊 glad to here you're doing ok!

It's crap isn't it @Pinktruffle the lack of communication and different information! I hope it gets sorted out for you xx

Thanks for wishes everyone 😊😊 so nice to come and vent here good and bad lol! X

PipTed · 09/09/2020 18:19

Oh what worrying news @nearlyamummyof2boys - I hope the results of the MRI are positive. Keeping everything crossed!

It’s so inconsistent, the care. My friend is 8 weeks behind me and has also seen a midwife at every appointment.

I could get really upset about it all, but there’s literally nothing we can do about the state of things at the moment. All we can do is think positively and look at the bright side of things.

My positive for the day is that at least when baby is born we won’t have to deal with tonnes of visitors every day and have a valid excuse to refuse visits if we want. 😊

kkr168 · 09/09/2020 19:47

@Pinktruffle I hope you are going to put a complaint in, there was no need for her to behave like that.

All of my appointments have been in person other then my booking in, which was over the phone. I saw a midwife after my 12 week scan & 20 week scan, from there I was assigned a midwife. I have seen her twice now, once at 25 weeks & then at 28 weeks, I'm booked in to see her again at 32 weeks. Surely they should all be following the same protocol, unless you're in an area with high covid rates.

peachypetite · 10/09/2020 06:10

Hi all. On the form my midwife gave me at my 28 week appointment for the blood testing it includes “glucose”. Is this the test for gestational diabetes or something else? I can’t see OGTT anywhere. She never discussed it with me! I’m starving but now thinking I shouldn’t eat before my appt?

Babyhope98 · 10/09/2020 07:44

That’s sounds like the GD test to me can’t see what else they’d test glucose for. So I would fast just incase x @peachypetite

Firsttimemummybear · 10/09/2020 07:48

Hi do you think rules will change by then? I really hope as a first time mum my partner can stay with me as rather anxious.

Will partners be allowed to 36 wk scan do u think?

chubbyhotchoc · 10/09/2020 08:00

@peachypetite if it's the glucose test it's fasting from 10pm night before

chubbyhotchoc · 10/09/2020 08:02

Anybody else sporting a smallish bump? went to a babyshower at the weekend and the ladies bump was so much bigger than mine, every pregnant lady I see seems to have a decent bump. I'm a bit worried about it. Seeing midwife today so going to see what she says. I'm 28+4

peachypetite · 10/09/2020 08:16

I didn’t eat after dinner last night and haven’t eaten this morning just in case but I do wish they would take the extra five minutes to fucking explain things to you Angry during your midwife appointment....she was lovely apart from that but it does feel like they are in a rush and all a bit tick box.

peachypetite · 10/09/2020 08:16

@chubbyhotchoc is it your 28 week appt today? They will measure it and let you know if they are concerned Smile

Kj1010 · 10/09/2020 09:03

@chubbyhotchoc I was concerned about my bump being small well in my eyes but midwife said it's fine no concerns and not to compare bumps to others but urs is a lovely bump xx

@chubbyhotchoc so cute and beautiful. My sister inlaw has a bump smaller than me and she is 2 weeks after my due date. ❤️ Hope all goes well at your appointment

peachypetite · 10/09/2020 10:14

Ok back from blood test and it was just taking bloods, no sugary drink or anything Hmm

chubbyhotchoc · 10/09/2020 10:15

All good. 50th centile so distinctly average lol

Babyhope98 · 10/09/2020 10:56

Had my midwife 28 week today they said she measuring on the smaller normal size and is breach but at my scan they said she was bigger so I don’t know 😅

Question do your blood pressure results vary mine has changed it was 100/60 now it’s 120/70 hope it doesn’t go up she said it’s normal as body is doing a lot wondering what yours have been x

Babyhope98 · 10/09/2020 10:57

@peachypetite I didn’t have to have the drink she said if my results were abnormal then I’d have to come back and have it x

Jwl45 · 10/09/2020 11:10

Morning. A random one... But has anyone noticed the top of your legs a different colour? A pinkish colour (as if you've been leaning on something) which disappears as you look down the leg?
I did phone midwife who though it odd and couldn't pinpoint. I'm thinking it's the lack of circulation, as I am sitting more... And less active as I get tired quickly. I'm thinking it's fat lol... as the cellulite I have this time is unreal (not one stretch mark! ) I'm 30+6.

PipTed · 10/09/2020 13:53

@Jwl45 don’t get me started with the cellulite - my legs are full of it, but like you, also no stretch marks. Suppose we can’t have it all?!

I sometimes get a different coloured bump, usually when I’ve been lay down if that helps?

@chubbyhotchoc lovely bump. Mine changes size all the time - one day it’s huge and the other it’s tiny - but after my growth scan I’m also measuring average. You must just be carrying very neatly. 😊

Has anyone had any experience with painful kicking? Last night I almost leaped off the sofa the kick was that strong!!! 🙈 felt like it was in my side too, which I feel is an odd place for this stage of pregnancy?!

Jwl45 · 10/09/2020 14:35

@PipTed
It's crazy. My legs are awful.
Nice smooth mummy tummy though 😉 ye, I've noticed a different colour maybe on bump... Which looks all shiny and smooth. Lol.
It's the back of my legs... So not the bum where I've been sitting... Just under. .. odd.
I may just need to get up and move around a bit more.... And stay off the chocs .... 🤦‍♀️
