Thanks guys, my 12 week scan is on the 16th sept and I just want it to all be okay as it seems to take forever to get to this stage doesn't it! Although I am dreading it. Fingers crossed no symptoms doesn't mean anything bad. 🤞🏻 Xx

chloxhunt · 04/09/2020 09:35

Haha, was looking at the Costa menu and saw a ham and cheese toaster and started retching can't wait to like my favourite foods again 😂 Mac and cheese and a chai latte for breakfast it is then

chloxhunt · 04/09/2020 09:36

@HollieL567 mines a week today! I kinda feel okay about it as I've already had a couple of scans and I've still got some of my symptoms like the thought of certain foods no thank you🤢 but yeah it's scary when you have days when you're completely okay I thought that when I first woke up i was like where's my symptoms at

Enjoy07 · 04/09/2020 09:43

Thinking of you today @Sussexbysea

We can’t win with symptoms- if we have them we’re miserable and if we don’t then we’re worried sick! I’m still in bed with sickness at almost 14 weeks I’m so looking forward to feeling better again! Hopefully soon!

Aurora124 · 04/09/2020 10:15

@Sussexbysea i keep thinking about you. I hope you and the baby are ok.

I have 11 days to wait for my scan, feels like forever. I feel paranoid everyone is noticing my ever increasing size of tummy..i'm not ready to tell anyone yet.

holb54 · 04/09/2020 10:23

@Enjoy07 I'm the same, the symptoms made me miserable but the lack of them the past week have really made me so worried..

spierse · 04/09/2020 10:56

Mine went away mostly, no they are back.... Trust me enjoy symptom free days, they are a blessing in disguise. Feel rotten for last 2 days just want to curl up in bed but I have meetings all day 😭

Taylortyler · 04/09/2020 10:58

@HollieL567 I think if I've learnt anything from this experience so far it's that symptoms or no symptoms means nothing. There are plenty of pregnancies that have no symptoms and have a healthy baby at the end and others that have all the symptoms in the world and unfortunately don't end well. You can only try and relax and not think about it too much. It's so hard not to worry but you just have to go with it. We're all in the same boat on this chat- everyone worries about symptoms or lack of!

Taylortyler · 04/09/2020 11:01

Had a scan this morning I'm 11+5 and she literally checked there was a baby and a heart beat and then I was out the door. But at least my mind is at ease for now and just got to wait until next Thursday for my actual 12 week scan and hopefully get my due date confirmed!

LottieDot · 04/09/2020 11:14

@Sussexbysea Thinking of you, hope today goes well x

@chloxhunt hopefully you didnt catch it! So funny about the ham and cheese toastie as thats what I'm currently craving, has to be from a cafe though not homemade!

So strange that people have had differing experiences with private clinics, I've had 2 private scans - 1 at window to the womb and 1 ultrasound direct and they were both really good. Ultrasound direct the sonographer freaked me out by saying she saw a polyp but we did get a video of the baby moving around and our scan was about 15 minutes which is longer than advertised! I wonder if it just differs a lot from branch to branch. You really should get a nice experience for the amount they cost!

DSP21 · 04/09/2020 11:16

@Taylortyler this was my experience too, in and out. Felt so unemotional, where as my early scan at the epu I felt really cared for.

Oh well, bring on our 12 week scans!!

chloxhunt · 04/09/2020 11:16

@LottieDot yeah I know! I think he's taking the test today! Haha I can't stand it 🤢 i can't stand a lot of things actually 🤢

Taylortyler · 04/09/2020 11:25

@DSP21 the scan this morning was at an epu- nhs, which was organised by my dr when I told them I had a bit of bleeding. On the contrary the private scan I had at 8+6 at Ultrasound direct was a lovely experience!
Today I asked if the sonographer had heard of the Ramzi method (a way of telling the gender from where the placenta is) and she said no and basically had a go at me saying not to expect them to tell me the gender at the 12 week scan and that when I go for my 20 week scan they probably won't write the gender down but they'll tell you the gender in person. Fancy being a sonographer and looking at ultrasounds all day, every day and not have heard of a very famous method for telling the gender?! I don't understand why she got so offended either? I'm just interested to find out it really doesn't bother me if it's a girl or boy anyway

DSP21 · 04/09/2020 11:34

@Taylortyler oh wow how rude?! I know these people do this day in and day out but some empathy towards mums for whom the whole experience is so special beyond words. I guess it's just luck who you get on the day!

Babafarmer · 04/09/2020 11:36

@Sussexbysea I have everything crossed for you today.

@HollieL567 I was exactly the same my sore boobs disappeared from 7 weeks. I only had a couple of queasy mornings. But apart from feeling tired I didn't feel pregnant at all. At 11 my boobs went softer and seemed smaller. I had a scan on Tuesday and was meant to be 12+3 but all was healthy and dated ahead at 12+6. Please try not to worry. Xx

holb54 · 04/09/2020 12:37

@Taylortyler some people are so unsuitable to their jobs, no need for a bad attitude

c24680 · 04/09/2020 12:46

@HollieL567 my symptoms stopped at 7 weeks, I have had rhinitis since then but the usual symptoms stopped and I was so worried but went for my 12 week scan last week and I have one very wriggly baby! Sore boobs are back and I get nausea when I'm tired and hungry.

aureliacecilia · 04/09/2020 12:52

No symptoms here other than acne (I had this until 20 weeks in my first pregnancy), tiredness from frequent night waking due to my tiny bladder and ensuing insomnia, and regrettably the start of pelvic girdle pain (which again I had in my first pregnancy). It started about 18 weeks the first time around and the midwife warned me it would likely start sooner this time. It's mostly focused around my right SI joint and it aches really uncomfortably every evening and while I'm lying in bed. I'm hoping to be referred for physio at 16 weeks but may need to ring my midwife and ask for an earlier referral. I haven't had any sickness or nausea, or really anything else unusual.

Mrs1989 · 04/09/2020 13:51

@Usplusone you are at a similar stage to me! My scan is also on 14th and my estimated due date was 28th March but is now 27th as baby was measuring a day ahead at my private scan a week ago. I wonder if that will keep changing though! I think there are a fair few of us on here who are due very late March and hanging on for our NHS scans!

Is there a manager at work you could tell initially and then just get some advice and go from there? I haven’t yet had a work risk assessment but only because I’m working from home. I did decide to tell my manager quite early on (nobody else knows, not even family) as I was a bit worried about getting called back in to the office and would rather she knew and the right precautions could be put in place if so. We’ve decided to do the risk assessment after my 12 week scan when I’m hopefully feeling a bit more certain about it all (I had a miscarriage in early Jan so it has affected how I feel with this pregnancy).

No proper bump at the moment besides looking a bit bloated but easily disguised! Wondering if bumps just grow overnight...?! xxx

Usplusone · 04/09/2020 14:05

I'm glad it's not just me waiting this long, feels like forever!

I was showing at 10 weeks with my first. And several people at work guessed I was pregnant really early on before even I knew I was! (long story but he was a miracle baby) So I know it's going to be hard to hide, luckily due to social distancing and scrubs it's hopefully a bit easier this time round but I might just be kidding myself.

I have a supervisor meeting and annual review coming up so think I'll mention it then so they can plan appropriately. If I was going to be thrown onto a covid ward I might have said something sooner, but hopefully that won't happen again anytime soon... I'm fortunately otherwise low risk.

chloxhunt · 04/09/2020 15:56

I know I'll probably jinx it but I'm actually starting to get excited about my pregnancy now 😂 I think it's because I've had two scans everything was okay and I've still got all my symptoms I'm always scared to be happy about something because when I am it goes wrong 😂

EmzG20 · 04/09/2020 16:28

Anyone else feel like they are always cold?

chloxhunt · 04/09/2020 16:39

@EmzG20 I seem shiver actually! But sometimes I'm warm lok

Taylortyler · 04/09/2020 16:43

@EmzG20 I get what I would say are cold flushes- so a bit like a hot flush but cold! And I can put the heating on and wrap up under as many layers as I like but still feel cold. I put it down to my under active thyroid but maybe it's a pregnancy hormonal change thing?

aureliacecilia · 04/09/2020 16:52

Hope all is OK with Sussex. I don't want to tag her as I'm guessing she's had a long day but really hope it's positive news.
