On the back of another thread I’m on, I wondered what outfits/sleepsuits people used as their first outfit and coming home outfits?
I’m 30 weeks with a baby girl and have a few cute bits that I’ve got in mind but was just being nosey and wanted to see other people’s cute outfits!

It was meant to be a frugi baby gro, but he was massive and went straight into 0-3!

ToxicTracey · 24/08/2020 16:29

We had a pink bunny outfit as her first outfit (only babygrow I'd brought in 0-1m, everything else was 0-3). Took her home in a plain white outfit and in the 10 min drive home she'd managed to absolutely destroy it with shit and it went straight in the bin 🙃.

This is cute, where is this from?
Raindrop87 · 24/08/2020 16:38

Possibly stupid question about a going home outfit that I've been pondering...FTM alert! Do you change them specifically before going home into a certain outfit and not just take them home in what they're wearing at the time? 🤔

stophuggingme · 24/08/2020 16:38

They were born in March, feb and November respectively
All three times a vest, a sleep suit ( I still have the theee of them) , a knitted cardigan and a hat and a blanket. For my November baby he had another blanket over his car seat until we got into the car

SunStruck · 24/08/2020 16:46

@ToxicTracey thank you! It is from GAP just recently 😄

TerribleCustomerCervix · 24/08/2020 16:46

With DC1 it was a random baby grow DH had brought from home as we had to stay in an extra night for monitoring and baby had already barfed over the carefully chosen outfit I’d earmarked for her Going Home ensemble.

DC2 wore a hand me down Polarn Y Pyret that my sister had given me for DC1 and a bear earred fleece suit from H&M. Here is the only photo I took of him leaving hospital due to the fact he was DC2 Grin

Caspianberg · 24/08/2020 16:47

Just a white Baby grow he had on. I added little white cardigan, hat and booties as we left

kirstyyt · 24/08/2020 16:50

Sounds awful but I can't remember DD1's going home outfit, I didn't know it was a thing! It's her first outfit and hat that I'v kept.
DC2 just wore a sleep suit with bunnies on as it was hot and DC3 a sleepsuit and cardigan as it was cooler.

I'd definitely do a nice sleepsuit or if wanting more of an outfit something like the picture from pp. Anything else and they can look quite uncomfortable.

EarlGreywithLemon · 24/08/2020 17:05

She wore a vest, baby grow, cardigan, and a grey padded suit. Also a hat and mittens. We came home in a black cab and it was late November so very cold. If chosen them all in advance. But in the end I was much more attached to the first baby grow and hat she wore!

EarlGreywithLemon · 24/08/2020 17:05

*I’d chosen

SpacePug · 24/08/2020 17:06

I had a gruffalo sleep suit for coming home but he got it dirty quickly (maybe leaky nappy cant remember) and had to change him before leaving anyway lol

dementedma · 24/08/2020 17:07

DD1 wore a bright red babygro covered in coloured stars, and a white cardigan. Very festive for a few days before Christmas

ScarMatty · 24/08/2020 17:08

A lovely outfit, which he was then sick on as we put him into the car seat, so he was swiftly changed into your average babygro

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/08/2020 17:08

Just a pink babygro - no slogans, no “I love my daddy” ....hate all that unnecessary crap! Trust me you think they are adorable in any outfit

Dogsgowoofwoof · 24/08/2020 17:10

I can’t remember what dd came home in. Nothing special in the end, we were in longer than I planned and she ended up wearing one of the last clean baby gros I had for her.

BiBabbles · 24/08/2020 17:11

My older three's first outfit was a white onesie with a purple star and lettering that said 'a star is born'.

My youngest could not fit into it, he was over a pound and half heavier than any of my others, so he came home in the spare Gromit onesie I'm very glad I packed.

DerbyshireGirly · 24/08/2020 17:17

We didn't know we were having a girl, so went neutral. We chose a White Company panda babygrow and booties and the hat was from a local boutiquey shop.

I was truly exhausted from labour and looking back I don't know where I found the energy for those pointless outfit changes Blush

KaleJuicer · 24/08/2020 17:23

We were a bit clueless so the 0-3 month baby gap snowsuit was enormous and DS disappeared inside the leg! He was one month early and 6lb. We then had an emergency delivery of “tiny baby“ baby grows from MIL and wrapped him up in multiple blankets to get him home.

qwertypie · 24/08/2020 17:28

Just a second-hand vest with a baby gro over it. White, maybe? He may have worn a little cotton hat. Can't remember. To be honest, it was very low on my priority list! Not having slept in nearly a week, keeping my organs from falling out of me, and learning how to breastfeed were what I was thinking about most!

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 24/08/2020 17:32

I can’t remember. He pooped on what he was supposed to wear and ended up getting changed into some random spare clothes 😆

Footlooseandfancy · 24/08/2020 17:41

Just a baby gro - it was a John Lewis one though
We only got the ok to go at about half 7 in the evening so it was a bit of a rush to get out of there, I wasn't sticking round to put any particular clothes on.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 24/08/2020 17:44

Oh yeah, and that was the second outfit fail, as the original planned outfit was in 0-3 months and absolutely swamped him! So had to pick something smaller (which then got pooped on and changed)

linerforlife · 24/08/2020 19:04

A matching "hospital set" from Marks and Spencer. Vest, baby grow and little hat. Cream with baby pink tiny spots Smile
