Period Cramping pains coming and going 38 weeks

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anybody else experienced the above which then progressed to labour?

This is our third baby, I was induced with our first. With our 2nd I had period cramping and my bloody show before contractions then DS2 was born the next morning at 40+4.

I will be 38 weeks tomorrow but the last couple of days I’ve had period type pains in and off, more so today.

I have them along with back pain for a few hours and then they go for an hour or 2 then come back, so there isn’t any kind of pattern.

I’m also getting a lot of pressure in my pelvis like I need to go to the toilet (but don’t go) but am actually going for a wee a lot more.

Not due until 22nd.

Following because I’ve had similar - period like cramps mainly at night sometimes with back pain. I’m due on the 21st. I asked my midwife and she said it’s just a sign of my body getting ready for labour, not necessarily that labour is imminent. I’m a FTM though so have no idea what to expect

Ahh same sort of thing. Yeah I do actually think it’s jsit our bodies getting geared up for the big day.

I think it’s just frustrating as with my 2nd this is how it started and he was born the next day!

Although the thought of giving birth in this heat over the next few days makes me feel exhausted already!

I've had the same pain and pressure for the past two weeks. I'm 39 weeks today. Nothing progressing yet.

I had period pain the Saturday and the Sunday the weekend before I went into labour at 39 + 4 , just for a couple of hours then it completely disappeared. It then returned the morning I went into labour on the Wednesday

I had this on the Saturday. Progressed enough that I thought I was going in to labour before stopping early morning. Cramps on and off Sunday and Monday, went in to labour late afternoon Monday at 38+5.

Braxton Hicks?

I’ve had this all day today at 36+1 weeks. Head has been engaged for three weeks now.

I’ve got a section booked For 38+6 but I’m not sure I’ll get there.

I have had braxton hicks but they haven’t had any pain at all, just a hardened belly.

Today has been a slight bit of pain. Hopefully it progresses over the next couple of days. It just confuses me as when I had it with my son I got my bloody show on the same day.

Yes I had this at 39 weeks, like period cramps in lower back, they got steadily worse, turns out it was contractions

Thank you, did you have a couple of hours real between them at the beginning?

Just about the bloody show, I didn't get mine until I was checked at the hospital when I was 5cm dilated.

I could have written this, I'll be 38 on Sunday and have had heavy lower back ache and on off period type twinges on and off and lots of pressure down there. Also feel suuuuper exhausted all of a sudden and was hoping something may be happening imminently. Following with curiosity. It's my first so I have no idea x

That wasn't written very well at all which is testament to how knackered I feel hahah. I meant I've had the back ache and pain for about 3 days x

They just started out the blue, woke me up, no break but was coming and going every half hour or so in the start. Started to get more and more painful and by morning was full on contractions.

Any updates on anyone?
I'm still the same, days of this lower back ache and period type twinges but no show or anything yet. I kept waking myself up during the night gagging last night like I was going to throw up too, wether related or not who knows 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ x

Nope, nothing from me. Period type cramping has gone. I feel so much pressure down below though. 13 days until I’m due 🤞🏻

Feeling the same here 38+3 period pains on n off for about a week. Seriously sore back and bum no matter what way I sat on Friday. Really heavy with lots of pressure down below today aswell as back pain coming n going. Roasting and I'm sat inside with a hot water bottle!!!

Braxton Hicks?

Sounds like it, and remember - they can be ‘silent’ to add to the fun of ‘was that a BH?’

14 days left for me. At least it sounds like we're all the same. I've got pressure in my bum too now not just the undercarriage!

I've also just done my 4th syringe of colostrum and the other were quite fiddly and took ages but this one practically poured out of me so maybe that's a sign the hormones have surged 🤞🏼

As much as I want bubba here I’m so anxious it will be in the heat of the next few days 😓

Had braxton hicks today but no cramping or back ache. Just a lot of pressure down below.

I think after a 4 stone weight gain I'm more looking forward to the 'light' feeling after the birth more than anything else 😭🤣 @Mumma4262

I have weighed myself purely for the post baby weigh in. After hauling massive arse around foe 9 months I want the prize of seeing them numbers drop after the birth 🤣🤣🤣 I'm due 23rd so very close 🥰👍🏼 @Mumma4262
