@Newmama29 oooh interesting, I’ll try that in my shower today! 👍🏻

heroineinahalfshell · 22/08/2020 15:38

@mable88 I've tried sex, clary sage oil baths, walks, birthing ball and spicy food, and none of it has worked! I'm getting a few tightenings now but for the 3rd time today they were unable to do a sweep because my cervix is still posterior and closed. I'm convinced induction is the only way things are going to get moving. So frustrating!

Superscientist · 22/08/2020 16:09

Nipple stimulation? It might be a coincidence but my waters broken a few hours after I tried....t'interweb suggested it might take a few days to work

mable88 · 22/08/2020 17:13

@heroineinahalfshell oh bless you, how frustrating for you! I've tried most of them with no luck so far, I think baby is just too comfy where she is.

@Superscientist thanks for that - I've read about that too and from what I can gather it does have quite a bit of scientific clout behind it, so worth a go!

Superscientist · 22/08/2020 17:23

It was the only thing i tried. I had my last day at work in the Friday so thought I would star nudging her along then. I had a go Saturday afternoon and my waters went at midnight (8 days early) she was in my arms by lunchtime.... She might have just been ready though but it was one of the few things I found that had something other than antedotal evidence behind it.

Newmama29 · 22/08/2020 18:08

@Superscientist this is one of the only things that the midwife said actually works! Nipple stimulation & sex, due to the hormones produced during these activities being the same as the hormones released during labour so there is definitely some science behind it!

Westley is back home (and just in time for my birthday!) Thanks to the formula they put him on he's back to his birth weight for the first time and is now an outpatient and will be having regular checks for the time being, as well as going to a feeding therapist. The main issue seems to be with my milk so they have me on a pumping schedule to hopefully help, and the feeding therapist plans to help get Westley nursing more efficiently. However we've been warned by the doctor that exclusive breastfeeding (and if we're really unlucky breastfeeding in general) may just not be a viable option. So we're moving forward hoping it'll work out but accepting that he may be a formula baby and if that's what's best for him then it's what's best and him getting the nutrients he needs is the most important thing.

Finally had my little girl 2 weeks after her due date after being induced at 41+5. The whole experience was totally different to what I expected and I can't believe she's here! Now trying to work out breastfeeding. Good luck to everyone still to go, you'll be amazing, and congratulations to all the new parents too 💞

@Nellie3 Congratulations!

Bellsx · 23/08/2020 12:21

Congratulations to all the new Mummies. I was 40+1 had a stretch and sweep on Thursday morning and my waters broke a few hours later with labour starting that night and our beautiful baby boy Milo was born at 8.25am Friday morning. The labour wasn't what I had planned but was quick and he is definitely worth everything I went through as he is just perfect! Good luck to those Mummies still waiting for their precious bundles.

sezzywoowoo21 · 23/08/2020 13:45

Jumping in late - am 40+4, had a sweep on Tuesday and had my bloody show this morning. Just waiting for things to start now 🤣

Third baby :)

mable88 · 30/08/2020 05:42

Update from me - after a ridiculously long early labour, an induction and an a emergency c-section, we welcomed Alexandra Juliet into the world at 0215 on Thursday morning 😀

She is ridiculously amazing and we adore her. A bit more got chucked at is - she was diagnosed with a dislocatable hip and so will most likely have to wear a harness or cast for a few weeks/months to fix it. It’s treatable and caught really early so the success rates are really good, but it makes me sad because a)it’s obviously uncomfortable/painful for her and b) this was not one of the many possible scenarios i had thought through in my head and therefore has blindsided me a bit. And then just as we were a knot to be discharged from the hospital, we were told that one of the women on my bay has had a positive covid test and therefore we were all now on lockdown for two weeks. So had to call my parents and tell them they aren’t allowed to come and see their only granddaughter. Not a fun phone call.

BUT baby is happy and healthy and ultimately that’s all that matters Grin

cannotmakemymindup · 02/09/2020 23:18

@mable88 congratulations on the birth of your daughter sorry that your all locked down for a couple of weeks. Enjoy those exclusive weeks as just your little family. Hope the harness goes well for her/you.

Any more babies to report?

Mochiface · 16/09/2020 11:26

Hi all!

Congratulations to everyone! Hopefully you guys won't mind me joining! I was induced in 23RD August, first rainbow baby and she arrived at midnight on 24TH August!

How is everyone doing so far?

Camia · 19/09/2020 13:17

@Mochiface Congratulations!

We're doing alright. Westley's growth issues seem to have been resolved and at his 1 month appointment he had jumped to the 90th percentile for height! He's 7 weeks now and smiles on occasion, babbles all the time, loves mirrors and lights, and thinks spitting out his binky then yelling for it is a great game 😂 I had my postpartum appointment yesterday and am now cleared for regular activity, and got the nexplanon implant to avoid another surprise (as much as I love our surprise lol)

sezzywoowoo21 · 07/10/2020 21:48

How are all you ladies doing feels so strange not seeing any contractions now we've all had the bbys ☹️ xx
