@peachypetite for us or the baby? 😏

I was totally unprepared last time - was rushed in an ambulance - thank god for friends!
So looking forward to preparing a nice hospital bag this time.
Husband packed mine for when I was in surgery and forgot to pack any knickers which was not helpful 😂

I'm in the hospital just had my scan so lovely to see the baby but the two Measurements are either above or below so I'm waiting to see the doctor - fingers crossed it's all ok.
The nurse said they did the Amnio when I was in surgery and that was all perfect.
I'm on a high from seeing his lovely little movements so trying to stay positive right now!

PipTed · 21/07/2020 12:12

@ChampooPapi that’s what I was thinking. 😂

@peachypetite I found a lovely all in one in TKMaxx that we’ll probably bring baby home in. If not a velour one from matalan. (Sorry the pic is the wrong way round) neutral as we’re team surprise.

Need cardigans and stuff though!

@peachypetite - I think I'm an oddball in this regard - I'm not going to plan a 'going home' outfit for baby. What I will do is take a range of my favourite baby clothes with me (in a range of sizes) :-)
I'm actually also planning to take some tiny baby as well as newborn and 0-3 but I haven't bought these - I have a friend whose baby was just small and skinny in size so inherited them as hand-me-downs. To be fair I've been lucky with hand-me-downs -- according to my spreadsheet I've spent a grand total of £8.10 on baby clothes but have almost enough to dress this baby until it's a year old.

I have, however, considered a going home outfit for myself - not out of vanity but practicality - I'm going to take a paid of cheap maternity leggings (the crappy BooHoo ones that came in an Ebay bundle that I don't care if I bleed through on to and have to bin) and a maternity/nursing dress: easy to throw on, I can layer over it, and no scar irritation issues if I have to have a C-Section :-)

nearlyamummyof2boys · 21/07/2020 12:21

I will be taking quite a few PJs this time as I got so sweaty last time - but it was the height of summer!
And probably just a few packs of newborn and 0-3 vests and sleepsuits.
I mean I think if we are well they will have us in and out at this time but of course you never know.

ChampooPapi · 21/07/2020 12:23

@EithneBlue too right! I'll be putting far more thought into my own personal going home outfit! A few tiny baby bits of your given them are good, newborn is up to 9 sometimes 10 pounds in some brands. Both my 40 week born daughters were 6-7 pounds when they were born so fit tiny baby for a few weeks, especially as they often loose about half a pound the first week. Very useful to have a little range of sizes.

God knows what mine will weigh as twins, anything from 5 pounds to 7 I guess!

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 21/07/2020 12:28

No way I'm shelling out for any tiny baby gear though, and the few newborn bits I have will suffice, that first month is just a blur and goes in a heartbeat and those tiny clothes are just worn for such a small amount of time. Very useful to have a couple of grows in each though, initially, even with a larger baby say 9 pounds , they are hardly podgers when they come out, they are all tiny things so pretty much everyone on here will find the first few two weeks post birth the newborn stuff is perfect.

OP posts:
ChampooPapi · 21/07/2020 12:32

Obviously if they are 5 pounds I'll be on my phone that first night in hospital ordering a few tiny baby grows to see them through 😉

I have two tiny ones in my collection that I will pack just in case. It's such an unknown with twins coming out at 37 weeks, I think though they'll be pretty diddy

nearlyamummyof2boys · 21/07/2020 12:35

Just spoken to doctor and she is going to scan me again next week as babies femur is too small.
They also are worried about one of the measurements in the brain - as there was obviously trauma for the baby with the surgery etc.
So they are going to check that next week - and maybe move my MRI forward.
Just feels a bit like one thing after the other - i really thought everything was fine now.
Sorry to bring the mood down I'm loving the hospital bag chat ❤️

peachypetite · 21/07/2020 12:42

I’ll deffo be packing a few different ones too depending on size but not tiny baby. I am not planning to buy much newborn either - next first month only goes up to 7 lbs something! For myself I’ll likely be in leggings and a baggy top, you’ll just want comfort and we are only a ten min drive from the hospital anyway.

ChampooPapi · 21/07/2020 12:44

@nearlyamummyof2boys I am so sorry that you've got this result back from them, it is one thing after another! It's bloody awful! This is why it was absolutely unbelievable that they just transferred you over to the single pregnancy midwives and doctor's ect. You are still a high risk pregnancy, not just the pregnancy itself, but your own personal health, physically and mental health.

It will be so good to see him again on the scan and to get some more measurements and clarity hopefully that everything moving forward will be fine for him. What day is your scan? Hopefully someone will come on who has experience of a shorter femur measurement . Big hug to you lovely 💜🤗

@nearlyamummyof2boys oh you poor thing it really has been a lot for you to handle and I’m so sorry you’re worried again. Will they be able to see you soon so you have less time to stress? Flowers

kkr168 · 21/07/2020 12:47

When I had my son 17 years ago, I turned up for my induction with a small suitcase. The midwifes were so rude, saying are you moving in, etc, I'd only packed what was listed as essentials on the bounty pack list.
I was only 18 & I was so embarrassed, I'll be taking a similar sized bag again this time but won't put up with any catty comments!

peachypetite · 21/07/2020 12:51

Oops that should have said next first size. I’m a bit terrified because my mum in law is small and had huge babies. I was 6lbs. I’m petite my husband is 6ft. At my scan she said I was measuring average but most of my friends have said that they were told things like the baby will be small and went on to have big babies so I do think it’s best to have a couple of different sizes and be prepared ha.

kkr168 · 21/07/2020 12:52

My biggest fear this time is spontaneous labour as I've not experienced it before.
On the clothes front I've got a newborn outfit for the baby's coming home outfit (see pic) but will also pack a 0-3 month just incase. My son weighed 7lb 2 & that was at 14 days overdue, so I may possibly need a tiny baby outfit too?

nearlyamummyof2boys · 21/07/2020 13:01

@ChampooPapi so apparently the whole moving my care was a complete misunderstanding.
Im staying with the twin midwife - she had been trying to contact me apparently!?!
She was lovely today and I'm seeing her again next week so that's good just wish this had all been communicated beforehand.

Just so stressful with moving house as well as I'm so unsure about when we are moving and getting appointments booked in - and hoping it will be an easy transfer!
Scan is next Tuesday and yes I am looking forward to seeing him again he was very active ❤️

Lovely outfit @kkr168

MummyShark97 · 21/07/2020 13:10

@nearlyamummyof2boys awh I'm so sorry you've had that experience and hope nothing else gets mixed up when you move!

I'm about to move my care to Sheffield and fairly skeptical about it moving over smoothly!

MummyShark97 · 21/07/2020 13:15

@peachypetite I watched this Instagram live every Wednesday and one of the things they mentioned is not to worry too much because even a big 9lb baby will fit in newborn in their experience - thought that was useful to know and surprised me.

At my 20 week scan I was 20+3 and measuring 21+5 so I've been thinking a lot more about how big he'll be! I was 6lb 4 and I'm also only 5ft1, my husband is 5ft 9... can't picture myself having a big baby!

StephRae · 21/07/2020 13:40

Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I posted, hope you’re doing well. I’m 22 weeks now and babies are growing so fast, I’m apparently measuring 26 weeks! I was measuring big during my previous pregnancy so can’t say I’m surprised, our family always has big babies 😩 finally have a few names in mind now! Where have everyone been getting baby clothes from, we’re starting to order a bunch of stuff now so would definitely like to know what you guys recommend.

Sorry you have been given something to worry about @nearlyamummyof2boys I do feel for you with everything you have gone through. It is a good sign he was active though. Atleast you get to see him again next week I hope all will be well with him xx

Kpm7 · 21/07/2020 14:40

@nearlyamummyof2boys must be really tough for you atm with everything going on. Try your best to stay positive ❤️

Good luck with everything xx

Kpm7 · 21/07/2020 14:58

@Hanrora06 I didn’t even know what a swaddle was I had to google it. HHahha. I have never seen my friends or family use them so I doubt I will get one tbh.

@StephRae what a gorgeous bump

A friend has just sent me a link for a discount on the Joie ispin 360 isize carseat, it's the one id decided to buy after lots of research, so glad to have another item checked off my list.
It's £280 reduced to £229.95 with the code DANSWAY, I've attached the links for if anyone else was after this particular seat, I went for deep sea colour.
