@EithneBlue I contacted my school on Tuesday to see what the plan is for me in September (baring in mind my school have said they expect a spike in October) and no one has got back to me. This leads me to think they genuinely have no idea. I don't feel safe going back and will get a sicknote if need be.

In other news, DH and I went to Baby Planet today (strictly appointment only and one couple for a one hour slot) and put down a deposit on our pram! We ummed and aaah'd between the Silvercross Horizon and Stokke Explory and managed to bag a £150 discount on the Stokke so went with that :) They will deliver it for free on a date of our choosing so going to wait till nearer my due date.
We also changed our mind on the car seat we wanted. Originally we were looking at the Joie I-Spin 360 but having seen it side by side with the SilverCross Motion, we've decided to go with the SilverCross as the seat was so much more comfortable and material so much softer.

peachypetite · 15/07/2020 16:50

@Pinktruffle love the look of the Stokke. Does it have a travel system? Does it fold down?

Pinktruffle · 15/07/2020 17:33

It does fold down. It's so light and lovely to steer/control, and I just love how close baby is to you! You can get it with a travel system - regular seat, carry cot and car seat which attaches to the chassis without any extra adapters. We chose not to go for that option as we wanted a 360 car seat and weren't that bothered about a carry cot either.

@Babyhope98 yes I'm starting to suffer from heart burn a lot more I havent used any rennies etc I've just been either drinking milk eating a ginger nut or plain bread and that works so far I've still got like just under 2 weeks I think for 20 week scan 28th July mine is I to havent felt kicks etc but do get this feeling of a night like when you go over a massive flyover and ur whole stomach from top to bottom swooshes then I feel him turn or something but that still doesn't stop my anxiety lol

ChampooPapi · 15/07/2020 19:28

@danielasummer Amazing and beautiful scan photos! So happy for you! You must be on top of the world this evening, exhausted, but on top of the bloody world 💃🎉. I have all my clothing from my last daughter but as it's a twin situation the universe wants me to buy everything AGAIN 😭😂. I have gone second hand but quality items, 15 pound second hand snuzpod was the best bargain of all. New mattresses on the other hand, the less said about the cost of those the better 🙄. Got my duet buggy, all my sheets and waterproof matress protectors. I am very prepared this time, last baby I didn't buy anything until after thirty weeks but I just wanted to less loose and have joy in it all this time early as possible so post 16 week scan I went hell for leather. And enjoyed every minute so I'd say start bidding, start Gumtree perusing, and start shopping baby 💜💜

Also enthusiastic waves to all the wonderful women who responded, I am so pleased everything is going ok your end @CurlyT94 and lovely to see your update too @excitednerves.

Massive respect to @EithneBlue for telling it like it is, I'm just so sorry about the negative barrage you've received, it's like er, sisterhood?!!! Anyway let's share a virtual bottle of wine together and set the world to rights ♀️

@chubbyhotchoc yes my last slept in her sleepy head for 5 months in her snuzpod, the health visitor or midwife never seemed concerned or to mind but I have heard people getting blasted on here for the same thing!

@Scotinportugal two girls, we have two already so we will eventually be a five woman household! God the bathroom situation makes me shudder 🙄

@nearlyamummyof2boys it was, and is, shocking. I am so pleased that your health visitor came and stepped in, she would have been frankly appalled. Hopefully things will improve a lot from now on with their duty of care towards you and your pregnancy and family

Fab scan pics (and pet pics) guys! Glad everything and everyone is progressing well!

I managed to get to the bottom of my midwife communication (or lack of). Spoke to the main midwife/ maternity line and was told that she is on annual leave. This would have been excellent information to know beforehand!!! The midwife on the phone was confused at why I didn’t have my next few appointments booked in, however. Hmm, kind of why I was calling - but only my midwife can do that in my area. 🙈 so frustrating. So have to wait until my midwife is back from annual leave, to arrange. Nobody was sure when she would be back, though 🤣 They did promise they would send my Mat B in the post though, so had some success!

@EithneBlue not the response you needed!!! I had NCT calling me to book, after I emailed to enquire about prices. After that I didn’t bother, as it seemed like a lot for an online course?! You are definitely in your rights to feel you have not received the service you were promised! The pandemic is affecting EVERYONE in some way, so why is it ok for our needs/ feelings to not matter? We’ve got it quite rough!

And re: your return to work, I agree. If the guidelines are unclear or unrealistic, how can they be followed in a reasonable way?

Teaandbiscuits123 · 15/07/2020 20:35

@ChampooPapi hey lovely! Thank you for the check in! This thread moves SO fast! I’ve skimmed through the last few days and it seems like lots has been going on.

@EithneBlue I’m a primary teacher and had to go back in today for the last two weeks which has just been ridiculous! After all this time WFH all of a sudden they want all the kids back and so I’ve got a bubble to teach for 2 days a week this week and next. I’m truly exhausted and however hard you try it’s impossible to get them to distance - I feel b vulnerable so I’ve no idea what September will bring!

A few have touched on pregnancy melt downs - I totally feel you! I’ve been in tears for the most ridiculous things!

I’m feeling like I need to do a bit of catch up! I haven’t bought a thing yet! I think I’ll do the bulk over the summer holidays as I imagine I’ll be too exhausted in September if I’m working full time. We are team surprise and I’m really noticing a shortage of gender neutral clothes - every website I log on to has ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ why can’t it just be baby?!

I hope everyone is doing ok and feeling good 😊❤️

Hanrora06 · 15/07/2020 20:46

@EithneBlue that's great to hear your school is supportive, at least one positive but yeah i totally get you about worrying about September. It's just so hard to know what to expect and to have any faith the government will do the right thing at the right time or put our safety first. My school is saying it'll be keeping to a bubble system at least for the first half term so we'll see how that goes I guess...planning on telling them this week I think, been just a bit nervous.

@nearlyamummyof2boys glad you got to talk to the health visitors and they listened! Hope things improve for you soon 💜

@ChampooPapi ahh virtual hugs to you also! Thanks for this thread, it really is great.

And my scan went really well!! All was fine, the consultant was really happy, very reassuring and optimistic, everything the right size and position so I'm feeling just so so so lucky tbh. Kind of just like but surely it can't go this well forever... when's the bad luck going to start?! But I'll take the good stuff, no complaints!!! Just wish we'd had longer in there!! But we were happy and my husband was super excited and loved it. He tried to video it but got too excited and it didn't work lol but it was lovely to hear the heartbeat, didn't hear it at the 12 week! For some reason the photo is uploading sideways Confused but oh well!

👣 Due Nov/Dec 👣 it's the 20 week scans! 👣
Hanrora06 · 15/07/2020 20:48

Oh it didn't upload sideways! Never uploaded a photo before to MN no idea what I'm doing

Hey everyone, I don’t have much to report really apart from feeling so much better these days and therefore enjoying the pregnancy a lot more! Nice to read of everyone’s updates and I sympathise with people’s frustrations re: Covid and it’s impact. Hope everyone is well tonight xx
