Meanwhile @PipTed current government guidelines say that I must go back to school in September ... without masks or PPE. I might get a 2m long stick to poke the students with if they get too close ;-)

ChampooPapi · 15/07/2020 08:59

@EithneBlue oh please that's ridiculous! You shouldn't be going back in September at all really, let alone without full PPE!

OP posts:
PipTed · 15/07/2020 09:06

@EithneBlue it’s just so Inconsistent isn’t it!? Wear a mask to go shopping, where you’re less likely to have contact with someone. But you’re fine to work closely with students in a school, while pregnant. 🙈🤦🏼‍♀️

And since many people now think lockdown is over, the impetus of social distancing seems to be dwindling. So where does that leave us, who are actually still trying to do so?!

I’m trying to be less paranoid about it, but it would put my mind at ease if the guidelines and recommendations were clearer/more explicit. So we all know where we stand (preferably 2m apart) 😂

Scotinportugal · 15/07/2020 09:18

Thanks ladies
@ChampooPapi yes we already know we are having a boy Grin I was told at the 12 week scan (I was actually almost 14 weeks) got such a shock! Wasn't expecting to be told, the doctor literally didn't even ask, just moved the Doppler around and announced it.
@confused107, good luck for your scan today/tomorrow, I'm the confused one now 😂

RestorationInsanity · 15/07/2020 09:39

Welcome @Scotinportugal! Good with lick with your scan, I'm 19+5 today and my scan is on Friday. I don't feel as nervous as for 12 weeks because I've felt the baby move, and am just trying not to worry about any of the other things they could tell me!

@MummyShark97 that blind is lovely! Am looking forward to my fabric arriving already, switch from general house renovation to baby-specific renovation!

@Kpm7 instead of 6 small full meals, I'm just been doubling up, so if I was going to have soup and a sandwich for lunch, I might have the soup at lunch and then the sandwich a couple of hours later, so it's no more effort but spread everything out. Or a bowl of yoghurt and fruit mid morning if you're having some toast for breakfast. That sort of thing. I don't think anyone is expecting us to cook 6 times a day (or I hope not anyway!) This is all assuming your are currently working at home or somewhere where you can have have breaks for food, which I know might not be the case.

RestorationInsanity · 15/07/2020 09:39

Sorry that should have been to @kkr168! My brain is like a sieve these days!

Scotinportugal · 15/07/2020 09:53

Hi @RestorationInsanity that's so exciting that you've felt movement! Is this your first? I haven't felt anything think that's adding to my anxiety Confused not sure where my placenta is either! Wondering if it's anterior like so many other mams to be on here!

peachypetite · 15/07/2020 09:55

I’m eating little and often too, I’m still not eating proper dinner in the evening but often feel hungry at five so I’ll have a snack then.

peachypetite · 15/07/2020 09:56

Welcome @Scotinportugalmy husband is Portuguese. I am 20 + 2 and haven’t felt anything, got told at the scan anterior placenta which made me feel better.

ChampooPapi · 15/07/2020 10:02

@Scotinportugalmy yes same for me like @peachypetite and haven't felt anything really at all. I'm over 21 weeks now and there's two in there, but it's very normal with anterior plancenta's not to feel anything definate 'kick' wise until more like 24/25 weeks. It does add to some anxiety though but you do get used to it, this is my third and every pregnancy o had anteriors. I wonder if if it's random or genetics?

How are you ladies getting on @CurlyT94 @excitednerves @firstbabybell @Teaandbiscuits123, you all trucking on alright?

CurlyT94 · 15/07/2020 10:15

@ChampooPapi Hello! Yes all good over here thanks, sorry I’m so terrible at keeping on track on here! Had my scan last week but baby was being stubborn again so have to go back on Friday for more measurements. Will be nice to see him again! Hopefully he’s more cooperative this time. Hope your scan went well too. All good apart from that, lots of movements which is lovely 😊. Hope everyone else is safe and well. Gonna have a little read back through the thread to see what I’ve missed Blush

RestorationInsanity · 15/07/2020 10:23

@Scotinportugal yes first baby. Not sure why I can feel so much, presumably just a combination of where the baby is and where the placenta is (although I also swing between thinking I must be imagining it, or that the baby is already enormous and that's why I can feel it!😂)

@peachypetite my appetite definitely doesn't correlate to how much I can eat in one sitting. I'm frequently ravenous but then get full very fast. Snacks are my friend!

excitednerves · 15/07/2020 10:35

Hey @ChampooPapi all good here! I haven’t been on much as we’re in the depths of house purchase (so far on track), and I went back to work yesterday from mat leave with DS1, so it’s been a busy week!

I have my 20 week scan on Friday, eeek! So excited! And another busy week after that!

nearlyamummyof2boys · 15/07/2020 11:19

Oh god is all go isn't it @excitednerves our solicitors have finally heard back from the vendors so our ball is rolling as well!
The only thing keeping me going is searching nurseries - I loved those blinds someone posted I'm sorry can't remember who!
DS has 10 month review today as well so might have a chat with health worker re:midwife care.

Welcome @Scotinportugal 🎈how amazing you found out at 12 week scan!

nearlyamummyof2boys · 15/07/2020 11:35

Aldi Baby and Toddler sale online from 26th!
I just got a lovely travel cot from there for DS1 for only £23!

They do have some bits that just come in handy for travel etc. and such good prices.

MummyShark97 · 15/07/2020 11:35

I've got my scan later today and he's gone all quiet with movements sure it's fine but how typical!

nearlyamummyof2boys · 15/07/2020 11:54

@MummyShark97 he might be having a nap getting prepared! Good luck for later xx

EithneBlue · 15/07/2020 12:03

@nearlyamummyof2boys - Oh, Aldi is awesome! Thank you for the heads up on that :)

Meanwhile, I've got that feeling when you start a thread to ask a specific question and the people who respond give you unsolicited advice about what to do and don't actually address the specific issue that I asked about... Face. Palm.

lionsmum · 15/07/2020 12:27

Welcome newbies & I'm so glad to see everyone's scans have went well so far this week😊 we had one on Monday which DH was allowed in for, which made it an even more lovely experience! All went well I'm delighted to report. Having one every 2 weeks from now on which is really reassuring.
Sorry to hear you have been left behind by the team @nearlyamummyof2boys it's not an easy time, lovely scan pics though I'm so glad he is doing well😊
@MrsSmith2020 I'm having an ELCS too, which was pretty much all arranged on Monday with my consultant (very easily too) but annoyingly my hospital don't give out a section date until 2 weeks before, so will be a while until I know an exact due date. I would speak to a consultant sooner rather than later to express your views on having an ELCS and your reasons for wanting one, i've read requesting one can be a frustrating process and just depends who you come up against, but fingers crossed you get it sorted sooner rather than later.

danielasummer · 15/07/2020 12:46

@ChampooPapi Honestly yes it is so so surreal, especially seeing baby wriggling around this morning at the scan. Still thinking it's too good to be true but will try to relax into it now and allow myself to get excited by buying a few bits and bobs! Mad to think that today marks the last time I see my baby until I deliver him/her! Also so so happy to say that late last night my hospital updated their facebook page and posted to say that partners were allowed into scans. My husband was the first partner they'd had in for months!! I wish this was consistent for everybody though, it seems that is varies from county to county, which is so disappointing. I know I was so gutted yesterday morning when I was told he wasn't allowed in, and so was he, quite rightly. This morning was great though and I feel like I can breathe a sigh of relief. Feel like I can also be more present in this thread as well as I've just been so nervous and feeling like a fraud every time I post! I sound crazy, I know!

How are you doing? When do you get to see your girls again? I also have an anterior high placenta so will be waiting, as you are, for those pronounced kicks! Have been feeling bubbles/flutters for a little while though which is lovely.

Have you bought much for the babies yet? I've been holding off and now suddenly feel very overwhelmed and unprepared! We have the whole second floor of our house to decorate - strip wallpaper, paint and new carpets, hopefully all done by September/October so that's when I'll be working on the nursery I guess! Hope it's not too late minute!

Here are a few photos of our little pickle - I'm obsessed with those little toes x

@danielasummer omg those feet I'm obsessed 👣👣👣

I love seeing my baby sitting down like that as well - even if it is on my bladder - I feel like I need to pee constantly has anyone else had that yet. I was worried I had a urine infection but the Sonographer said it was probably how he was sitting.

I have only felt flutters as well can't wait for a kick!

EithneBlue · 15/07/2020 13:11

You know what? I hate Mumsnet. Outside this thread people are vile vile vile humans. I started a thread to ask for advice but what I''ve got back are judgements that I DID NOT ASK FOR.
I paid so much money for an NCT course and they owe me 15% back - I was promised communication on this within 14 days, which they didn't bother to do. But now I am a bad person for being annoyed because 'they're volunteers'? I did not pay £238 for volunteers not to bother!!!!!!
My NHS care has been shit. NCT has been shit. The hospital scan policy has been shit, but I'm supposed to feel sorry for the poor little NHS Workers and NCT volunteers and accept crap care and crap service? Why? I've just had enough of it. :(

EithneBlue · 15/07/2020 13:17

... maybe I'm feeling more hormonal than I thought I was :(
If anyone just wants to send a cute picture of a puppy that would be appreciated.

nearlyamummyof2boys · 15/07/2020 13:42

Oh poor you @EithneBlue it's shit isn't it.
I agree I know the NHS have had a hard time of it but we have all had a hard time of it.
I'm out of work - my boyfriends wages have been cut - and he's had to travel into London and carry on working through the virus.
It's crap that it's being used as an excuse to give us crap service at one of the hardest times - we almost need more care/reassurance during this virus.
I don't see why it's affected midwifes doing there job so much surely it shouldn't stop them replying to texts phoning us back etc!

And it's awful you feel like that on here one of the places we should feel safest!
