Bugaboo Fox 2 vs Oyster 3

Looking for a travel system and haven't managed to see any in person yet. I was pretty set on the Bugaboo Fox 2 but I've recently seen the Oyster 3 which also looks good. Does anyone have experience of these or know how they compare?

Thanks in advance! x

I pushed both at the weekend and I felt the bugaboo was smoother x

I currently have the Oyster 3, not tried the bugaboo. I really like it, its a lovely pram and folds up small with the stroller part attached. I've walked miles and miles over the last few months and it's very sturdy but lightweight. Was there anything specific you wanted to know about it?

raindrop83 · 07/07/2020 13:03

Thanks, it was really just how they compare, positives/negatives etc. I've seen loads of comparison videos online but never the Bugaboo vs Oyster...

I've heard loads of positive things about the Bugaboo Fox but not much at all about the Oyster? I'd say the Bugaboo is more popular, must be a reason for that!

We were set on the bugaboo but actually went for the oyster 3 in the end once we tried them out. We found it was designed really well for a smooth easy push, easy fold system and nice and compact when folded. It also felt really well made and sturdy, without being bulky. We did a lot of research into prams and were undecided between the bugaboo, the oyster 3 and the silver cross. I think you can only really make your decision once you’ve tested them in person and know what you prioritise in a pram. We were lucky mothercare was still going, hopefully there’s somewhere near you where you can test them out?

DJBebe · 07/07/2020 20:45

Following.
What is the difference in price between those two prams?

raindrop83 · 07/07/2020 22:25

It varies depending on which package you opt for but the Oyster 3 is typically a few hundred pounds cheaper...

Hi ladies, with the oyster 3 would you go for the car seat as well? I’ve read mixed reviews on the oyster car seat so unsure which to go with.

river12 · 08/07/2020 07:00

No I opted for the cybex cloud z and it is absolutely brilliant, a bit pricey but we are so happy it. Most car seats fit with the adapters for the oyster so you don’t necessarily need to opt for their car seat, unless it’s down to budget as obviously the package works out cheaper.

One tip with the car seat in the oyster 3 - I don’t know if this was just me, but I really struggled to remove the seat and thought it was a design flaw, was all set to return to the store but then found out you should put your foot on the bottom bar as you pull the seat, and it pops off nicely.

thetangleteaser · 08/07/2020 07:20

I have the oyster 3 and love it, it’s light weight but sturdy and so easy to fold, my son always looks really comfortable. We got to joie i level car seat which with the oyster adaptors then fit on the pram, if I remember correctly I’m sure the maxi cosi pebble fits on the pram too! I really rate it, much better value for money than some of the other prams on the market I think🙂 We didn’t use the carry cot part, the pram as it is lies completely flat from birth so I didn’t feel we needed it.

Pink15 · 08/07/2020 08:15

@thetangleteaser can I ask does the joie i level seat lie flat in the car whilst driving or just on the pram? Thankyou x

@Pink15 I’ve never used it laying flat whilst driving, we always only used it as a seat when driving, but it’s a really good seat. I didn’t even think about lying flat whilst driving, I’m not sure it lies flat when inserted into the isofix base but it may well do! It lies flat on the pram and is such a good feature if your baby falls asleep in the car seat as you can carry the car seat in then lie it flat🙂

Reported the vile comment above!

Bugaboo are lovely.

SassyPants87 · 08/07/2020 08:25

Personally I'm getting the oyster 3 although I haven't tried the bugaboo. Oyster was super easy to manoeuvre, very light weight and so easy for my to good down and put back up. But I wouldn't have actually gone for it had I not tried it out first! So I think you'll only really know once you test them out

stargazer87 · 11/07/2020 18:37

After seeing several travel systems today I think the Oyster 3 has won hands down. Now just to decide on which bundle/colour! I've seen a few comments on the Oyster car seat and mixed reviews, would be good to get people's thoughts, did you go for the matching car seat or a different one?

clemmie83 · 11/07/2020 20:32

There are some good bundles around including car seats....

Sundaygirlz · 12/07/2020 09:23

We got the cybex cloud z included in our bundle (for the same price) because of the oyster car seat not passing the safety tests with the isofix base. This was last year, not sure if its changed since then! If we'd wanted a seat to be secured with the seat belt we'd have probably gone with it but we wanted a base that could spin round to make it easier getting baby in and out. And the cybex can be laid flat when on the pram chassis which is a bonus.

clemmie83 · 12/07/2020 09:43

@Sundaygirlz That's crazy that it didn't pass it's safety test. I didn't know that! I'm surprised they're allowed to see it if that's the case??

Anaesthetist83 · 12/07/2020 09:44

We have also gone for the oyster 3 and cybex cloud z combo

Sundaygirlz · 12/07/2020 09:52

We were told it was absolutely fine with a seat belt, just not the isofix base but the place we bought ours from were refusing to sell it at all.

clemmie83 · 12/07/2020 11:13

I've looked into it and apparently there was an issue last year where some were recalled but it's been rectified now. I thought it must be something like that for shops to still be selling them!

Stargazer87 · 16/07/2020 15:00

The Oyster 3 looks a little smaller than some travel systems, does anyone have experience of what age it accommodates up to?
