Hi all

31 and TTC for the first time. Just about to enter the 3rd cycle. Although I know all of our bodies work differently, I just wondered how long it took people to get pregnant?

Look forward to hearing from you Smile

Age 39 - 1st cycle
Age 40 - 2nd cycle
Age 41 - 2nd cycle

I count my blessings and feel very lucky that I've managed to have even one child having begun so late!

SparkyBlue · 03/07/2020 13:16

First baby age age 35 it took 4 cycles. Second baby aged 38 it happened on our first cycle and our third baby was a total surprise baby at age 42.

Littlegoth · 03/07/2020 13:17

36 - 38 conceived 4 times, 3 out of 4 were first cycle trying, the other was 2nd cycle.

Staying pregnant was my challenge, first 3 ended in miscarriage and this one seems to be going well so far x

MaryShelley1818 · 03/07/2020 13:20

Age 38 - took 5 cycles (39 when baby born)
Age 42 - took 18mths and currently 8wks pregnant

twinkletwinkle00 · 03/07/2020 13:25

36 - first cycle. I was terrified, I had no idea it could happen so quickly.

Dollywilde · 03/07/2020 13:26

Conceived at 30 after 9 cycles, 10 months of trying.

RHTawneyonabus · 03/07/2020 13:28

At 32, second month of trying. At 34, four months and at 39 six months.

Fatted · 03/07/2020 13:30

31/32 with my eldest and it took nine months to conceive. 34 with my youngest and we caught on the first month.

With my first, we started trying as soon as I came off the pill. With my second I had stopped taking the pill about six months beforehand for other reasons. So it was all out of my system sooner. I was also a lot more relaxed today begin with with my first, so we probably didn't DTD enough to begin with.

Age 30 - pregnant by accident using withdrawal method

Age 31- conceived the weekend after coil removed (ended in miscarriage)

Age 31- conceived 2nd cycle.

Very very lucky,I'd assumed I'd have problems as always had dreadful periods.

yomellamoHelly · 03/07/2020 13:32

Age 32 and 38 - straight away. Age 35 took 17 months.

Sanch1 · 03/07/2020 13:39

DD1 - 31, first cycle
DD2 - 34, second cycle
No. 3 - 38, first cycle.

I know I am VERY lucky!

stophuggingme · 03/07/2020 13:40

38 and had just had the contraceptive injection. It was a very big shock when I found out I was in fact pregnant.
Second at 40 again a shock, we were on holiday and had talked about trying for a second but I felt a bit funny and a did a test which was positive.
Third at 41. I went for blood tests three days after a horrific period which went on for a fortnight finally. The blood tests said I had raised hcg levels. I got a positive test result a couple of days later. Likely I had a failed multiple pregnancy but one foetus survived he’s now two and a half.

I had never been on the contraception pill at all until getting that injection, just relied on condoms before that. I had very heavy periods and suspected fibroids or endometriosis so I never thought at 38 that three unexpected but very loved babies would happen for me.

Hope things work out well for you

35, took 18 months. Referred for IVF and literally 13 days later conceived. I do wonder if it was partly our mental well-being and stress.

PirateWeasel · 03/07/2020 13:45

7 cycles age 33. TTC again now age 35 and on cycle 3 so far.

Reader1984 · 03/07/2020 13:46

34, 10 months mc. Another 5 months after that to conceive again.

CoffeeDay · 03/07/2020 13:52

31 - First (chemical pregancy / early MC 5-6 weeks)
31 - Second (ended in MMC 10 weeks)
33 - First (healthy DD, now 18months)

My experience was that it wasn't too hard to fall pregnant but harder to stay that way. Since most miscarriages are caused by chromosomal problems, being over 30 may have played a role in that.

rooarsome · 03/07/2020 13:52

5 months. In my 20s I caught in the first cycle every time so it was a bit nerve wracking this time!

Tootletum · 03/07/2020 13:54

35 - 1 time
37 - 3 months of endless sex
40 - 1 mistake...

IndieRo · 03/07/2020 13:56

First month on all three dc, last one I was 31

CountFosco · 03/07/2020 14:03

First month for all DC, born when I was 37, 39 and 41.

Nelbert19 · 03/07/2020 14:05

4 cycles at 32 years old - currently 37 weeks with a foot wedged in my ribs 😖

MyBingaling · 03/07/2020 14:11

I got pregnant first cycle at 27, but in my 30s:

30 - 2nd cycle (but had an early miscarriage)
30 - 2nd cycle (my DD!)
36 - accidental Blush

Everyone is so different, though.

Hanrora06 · 03/07/2020 14:30

@SC1989 I think from this it shows that there's no real pattern, could work straight away or not, and can vary across pregnancies!

I'm 31, got pregnant without 'trying' as such, just not 'not trying' if that makes sense, the first time I'd had totally unprotected sex around ovulation (bit of a surprise). However, I'd been tracking my cycle as contraception using Natural Cycles for about 2 years, which I'm now using it to follow my pregnancy and will continue using it after I give birth, would also recommend it as a way to 'Plan' for pregnancy. I can see that we'd used the withdrawal method around my ovulation a few times and didn't get pregnant. So...I don't know what that tells you! I guess it depends on what you think of the withdrawal method as a way of not getting pregnant. Maybe that means in theory there were a few cycles I 'could've' got pregnant but didn't? Or maybe the withdrawal method actually works really well and the first time I didn't use it I got pregnant? Who knows!

Laurend0603 · 03/07/2020 14:33

32, 4th cycle
