@MissHoney85 Osian is our most likely boys name actually.

Mimiwish · 15/10/2020 08:48

@EmotionalFlamingo - that's incredible! Wowzee - what an amazing thing to happen and very surprising for you! Congratulations! Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy - how funny to only realise in the third trimester, when you're close to the finish line!

EmotionalFlamingo · 15/10/2020 13:47

It has certainly been an emotional roller coaster that's for sure!

Today I'm feeling particularly low.. I've been admitted to the hospital again because of bleeding. Only light bleeding, which seems to have almost stopped. They checked baby (baby is fine), checked my cervix (closed, good, no signs of premature labour), won't let me leave, say I need to stay for monitoring for 24 hours. This same scenario has happened 3 times now and I've been admitted each time.. but that's 3 admissions in just over a week. Physically I'm okay, but mentally I'm exhausted and an emotional wreck.. the staff at the hospital are lovely, but I just want to be home with my husband and daughters. Sad

There's some lovely Welsh names mentioned on this post. Not looking for a Welsh name ourselves, but we will need to start coming up with a name list soon!

MissHoney85 · 15/10/2020 14:04

@EmotionalFlamingo goodness you have been through a lot! That all sounds very stressful. I hope you manage to get some rest while they keep you in.

SnookyPook · 15/10/2020 14:15

@EmotionalFlamingo aw that’s tough. At least they are being careful and monitoring you and Babba closely. Hopefully the 24hrs will pass by quickly so you can get home to your family ASAP. Have you got anything to do? A good book or something? Sending hugs!

MissHoney85 · 21/10/2020 13:12

I had my 28 week midwife appointment today - the first time I've actually met my Community Midwife face to face! She thought my bump was measuring small so booked me in for a growth scan and they happened to be able to fit me in within half an hour. I wasn't too panicked as I'm quite small anyway but I noticed in the waiting room that partners seem to be allowed into scans, so I told my DH who hasn't been able to come to any so far. He pegged it over (let's hope there were no speed cameras) and made it with a couple of minutes to spare. The scan was fine, the sonographer was very happy with the measurements - in fact a few days ahead. It wasn't a particularly beautiful scan (didn't get to see the face or anything, baby was curled up face down) but I'm chuffed that my DH has managed to see a scan. And that the baby is measuring well of course!

Now for the third trimester fun...

SnookyPook · 21/10/2020 15:35

@MissHoney85 aw that’s lovely that your OH made it to a scan at last! Bet he loved that! Also great news that Babba was measuring well. I’ve heard so many stories of fundal height not being overly reliable!

Got to wait until 2nd Nov for my 28wk appointment- will also be my first in-person appointment. Can’t wait!

footprintsintheslow · 21/10/2020 18:03

We are all quite quiet on here aren't we? Hope everyone is doing ok.

My midwife is face to face every three weeks from now on.

My diabetes year has come back negative so I must just have a giant baby in there!

@MissHoney85 great that your husband came along for the scan. I recorded the heart beat via what'sap at my last appointment and sent it to him.

Onekidnoclue · 22/10/2020 14:34

Hey everyone. Think we’ll need a new thread soon! Im fine. Mainly uncomfortable as I’m VAST and can’t for the life of me think of a name for the little guy. I really like welsh and Irish names but DH say it’ll be confusing when he plays against them in the six nations 🙄😂

@Onekidnoclue have you got a short list?

Onekidnoclue · 23/10/2020 21:53

Kind of @footprintsintheslow basically we’d like a short traditional unexciting boys name! Thinking Luke, Alex, Oliver.... we went for Henry for DS1. We’re pretty unimaginative!!

Hello all! Hope you’re well.

Phew finally made it to the end of the thread - so many useful things being discussed! First time mum and first time Mumsnetter here... how do I find out if there is now a new thread?

I found out I had gestational diabetes last week and was pretty devastated. Combination of family history, ethnicity and lockdown BMI meant it wasn’t totally unexpected. I am now feeling so guilty because if I don’t keep my sugars low (I’ve been given a monitor for every meal this week and more sporadic monitoring from next week) the baby will be affected but if I don’t get enough calories, the baby will also be affected. Was feeling very low earlier this week when it felt like I couldn’t keep it low never mind what I tried but I’m getting a bit craftier with it and managed to have within range readings all of yesterday (for the first time!). Anyone else have any experience with GD?

Thanks!
26+3 weeks / Due: 27th Jan 21

fatiatesushi · 24/10/2020 08:23

@Onekidnoclue - also sorry for posting something non-relevant to your post! First post too so just working it out!

Onekidnoclue · 24/10/2020 08:38

Hey @fatiatesushi good to have you here. I’m afraid I have no clue on GD but hoped someone who does will pop along shortly. It must be hard with sugar. Some days I think it’s all that keeps me going!

fatiatesushi · 24/10/2020 08:41

@Onekidnoclue I've been lucky in having only savoury cravings! But I did just weight myself and dropped 3lbs which I'm a litttttlllleeeee concerned about - but husband reckons it's just because we have been so strict for the last few days.

It's crazy how it impacts you emotionally?

BabyG123 · 24/10/2020 14:03

@fatiatesushi I can't help where either. There's lots with GD in here though so hoping someone comes along.

WhoUsedMyName · 27/10/2020 20:24

@Onekidnoclue George?
I'm back I keep losing the thread Confused

Onekidnoclue · 28/10/2020 17:51

@WhoUsedMyName sadly close family member so can’t use George. Thinking along those lines. Just can’t get excited by any of them. I felt DS was a Henry from very early on but nothing seems sticky with this chap.

Funny you say that about close family. We have an Archie then sil called her ds Archie I thought it was close to home.

SnookyPook · 06/11/2020 14:00

Hi All, haven’t been getting alerts for this so not popped on for a while. Also not convinced the thread has updated on my phone as the last message I can see is from 29th Oct...

Hope you’re all well! I’m 29wks today! 3rd trimester good so far 👍🏼

footprintsintheslow · 06/11/2020 18:28

@SnookyPook hi there this thread has been very quiet.

All is well here except for terrible coccyx pain that comes and goes. I'm 31 weeks on Sunday and really trying to enjoy these last weeks.

Are people making birth plans at all or play lists? I love to have my favourite songs on. No whale sounds or dolphins singing thank you very much.

Onekidnoclue · 06/11/2020 19:37

Hi everyone. I’m not loving the third trimester. I’ve got back ache, anaemia, acid reflux and I’m the size of a house!

Onekidnoclue · 06/11/2020 19:52

Oh! And piles... lovely piles... 🥴

Hey ladies, randomly just popped on. The Facebook page is very busy which may be why this is quiet. Babies being born, hospital bags being packed, etc etc.

Not sure if you're on there too.

Onekidnoclue · 07/11/2020 23:26

What?!! Babies being born??? At 30 weeks? I hope I’m not about to join that club! I’m not on Facebook though so perhaps I’m missing out.
