Please tell me this is a false positive

I’m pretty sure this is false positive but I’m freaking out honestly. Me and my ex had unprotected sex alllll throughout February in hopes of getting me pregnant. The relationship was extremely toxic though and soon after he began to get physically abusive so we split. That month I was late on my period and was sure I must be pregnant. However, tests were negative and I ended up bleeding as usual (just a little late). I’ve bled every month on the dot up to now. I’m late again by quite a few days so randomly took a test and this came back. The line is very pink BUT also very faint. I’d be sure it would be darker by now if I was. Also if I was pregnant I couldn’t have possibly bled monthly on the dot and got negative tests up to now right? I haven’t slept with anyone since February. My mum has been subtly mentioning pregnancy lately, I think as a way of subtly asking if I am since I’ve gained so much weight and my belly is admittedly pretty big (but that is where I always gain the most weight). Writing this while downing water so I can wee again and take another test 😂 please reassure me in the mean time

Please tell me this is a false positive

I would take a digital to help put your mind at rest

roro87 · 28/06/2020 20:35

Your HCG goes down after your placenta kicks in OP so this maybe why it is a faint positive but tbh it definitely does look positive to me and the fact it came up before the control line would indicate not an evap line.

sarahc336 · 28/06/2020 22:34

If the pink line appeared before the control line then surely it's a positive, ive only eve we seen this when defo pregnant and more testing to see line progression etc xx

heartyrebel · 28/06/2020 22:39

My friend bled regularly too, she was 5 months before she took a test. She'd gained weight, bigger boobs etc

TJ17 · 28/06/2020 22:55

You don't really get "false positives"
The reason they are so faint could be down to:
the time of day you are testing (first morning urine will get a darker line)
And/or the fact you are downing water to test (this will dilute your urine) making the line fainter.

So sorry to hear of your abusive relationship and a huge well done to you for breaking free but you deffo need to see a doctor/midwife as you are most probably pregnant x

TJ17 · 28/06/2020 22:57

Oh and also, as somebody else said, line could be fainter the further along you are as HCG eventually plateaus or even drops by 10/12 weeks

mumworkstudywine · 28/06/2020 23:00

That definitely looks positive to me - I would seek medical advice, even if you just go to the triage unit at your hospital to get in quicker. If you are pregnant and conceived in Feb, then you've missed a whole lot of medical appointments and your baby has gone unchecked. Honestly it's no good asking us as a forum, you need to see your GP or a medical professional asap. Big hugs in this stressful time xx

MushyPeasAreTheDevilsFood · 28/06/2020 23:07

Another one saying you need to see your gp.

backseatcookers · 28/06/2020 23:28

Please go to the GP OP, even to put your mind at rest it's totally worth it!! Don't leave it longer, if it is positive then you want as much time as possible to be prepared for the decisions and preparations you will need to make. Thinking of you x

Isthisfinallyit · 28/06/2020 23:38

Positive tests actually don't indicate pregnancy but a rise in HCg or HCG like hormones. A positive test when you aren't pregnant needs investigating. Please tske this serious and go to the GP. You need to know if you're pregnant or if there is something else going on.

LuckyWright · 29/06/2020 20:54

Did you call your doctors?
I agree with others, definitely get this checked out whether it's a pregnancy or something else xx

RAE511 · 29/06/2020 20:57

I think it's positive. I had one like that for my first pregnancy.

MoreCookiesPlease · 30/06/2020 23:13

Any update OP?

applepip21 · 04/07/2020 11:53

I was going to leave it but all your comments telling me to go to doctors really stuck in my head so I’ve messaged them with a photo of the test and explanation, just waiting for a response. I can’t imagine much coming from it but it’s worth checking

Positive tests don't just mean pregnancy. Some types of cancer produce a positive result. Even men can sometimes get a positive result. Not to worry you too much but definitely speak to a dr.

Habbyhadno · 04/07/2020 12:08

Well done OP. Best to get it checked out.

daisychain1620 · 04/07/2020 12:22

Definitely get bloods taken at the gp. I took through several tests all showing lines within the time frame and was convinced I must be pregnant. Blood tests taken last week confirmed I am not pregnant but I still have no bleeding or any other symptoms. I know what it's like to wait for answers, I wish you all the best.

applepip21 · 05/07/2020 22:55

Should hear from doctors tomorrow, thank you so much to everyone who have followed the thread 💜 I know I’m overweight regardless but I look so bloated. I truly don’t believe I’m pregnant but there has to be something else causing this. Cannot want to get to the bottom of it.

Antipodeancousin · 05/07/2020 23:23

I think you’re pregnant and in denial. I got pregnant mid Feb and I’m a similar shape and size to you.

Haretodaygonetomorrow · 05/07/2020 23:29

You do look pregnant. I hope you get a definite answer very soon. Best of luck.

DontWantToAdult · 05/07/2020 23:33

You look very pregnant

Has your mum not noticed?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 05/07/2020 23:37

Oh love I'm sorry but I do think you're pregnant. It might be worth thinking through your options.

midwifeyNC · 05/07/2020 23:47

Don't worry, you're ok. Call GP first thing tomorrow and get an appointment asap. Explain to your GP what you have explained here.

applepip21 · 05/07/2020 23:50

She’s made a few really really subtle random comments like ‘why don’t you go and make yourself some pregnant food’ ?!?! And then playing it off being like ‘just thought about that pasta you had after you had after giving birth before’. She wouldn’t flat out ask because she knows I’d be insulted 😂 every time she comes over now I wear a dressing gown so she doesn’t assume I am 😂

I never go by women’s belly shape as you just can’t ever be certain and risk offending! Grin

The test shows a line, yes, and false positives are rare. I hope for your sake you aren’t pregnant. Fingers crossed you get the result you want.

Also- do you already have a baby?

Could be implantation bleeding.

This made me laugh. Implantation from sex in February?
