Seen as though it's nearly full... I've started thread 4. I wonder how many threads we get up to ❤️

Wow, that is pricey. The daisy class I found are £60 for a 6 week course (1.5hr class each week) I’m planning on doing 2x 6 week blocks nearer to the time. Agreed it is an expensive way to meet friends!

Hanrora06 · 06/07/2020 18:39

I've booked my NCT classes already but then I got a pretty big discount, otherwise I would have had to do it on a payment plan. I know they do get a lot of recommendations - my own mum even remembers her classes and is still friends with people she met there! But then yes they are a pricey way of doing that if there's other options. I decided to go for it as there's no guarantee the NHS ones will be back by Oct/Nov so this way at least they'll definitely still be online even if not in real life. I am also planning on doing the hynobirthing classes, that is a great price for those and I've heard good things about them as well! Never heard of Daisy classes, I'll have to look.

In terms of Tinder for mum's @december2020 I joined Peanut, which tbh I've not really looked at but it does look like basically that very concept haha! Which is pretty cool I think, I may investigate it further as I get past my 20 week scan.

Helski123 · 06/07/2020 18:46

I've booked the NCT classes too. Asked a few people and they all recommended them and said they get booked up really far in advance. Agreed they are expensive so I hope they're worth it!

Will have to look into the Peanut thing!

I have just downloaded Peanut and Mush (think it's a bit similar, like a Facebook for mums). Though currently a little shy to start "matching" with mums in my area 😅😅

I think I'm going to sign up for the NCT class too, first time doing all this so it'll be nice to actually meet some people and hopefully get some useful tips for it all. Currently being a bit of a "winging it" mum with a "we'll figure it out" attitude.

Had our 16 week private scan today and found out we are having a boy! My DS5 will be thrilled 💙

viixie · 07/07/2020 18:12

Just curious, did anyone else get told the cord is around the baby's neck at the 12 week scan? I keep worrying something is going to be wrong with it or it's been strangled and it's going to be bad news at my 20 week scan

Bumble84 · 07/07/2020 19:06

@viixie I didn’t get told that but I didn’t get told much, I had to probe! I’d like to assume if they told you that and it was an issue they’d have discussed it more though.

I am also still worried something might be wrong at the 20w scan as well though. I hope I’ll feel different when I can actually feel my baby move.

viixie · 07/07/2020 21:03

@Bumble84 thanks, I feel the same. As I haven't felt anything I worry if it's okay in there

viixie · 07/07/2020 21:03

Helski123 · 07/07/2020 21:45

@viixie I haven't felt anything yet either. I'm sure if they were worried about the cord then they would have booked you in for another scan before the 20 weeks. At every stage in pregnancy there always seems to be a new worry. Don't think it'll get better when baby arrives either!

Amwl · 07/07/2020 21:50

@viixie I had the same at my 12 week scan. I gasped and the sonographer told me it's really common, they twist themselves in and out of it. Nothing to worry about.

viixie · 08/07/2020 10:19

Thanks @Amwl, thought it was just me. I'm just overthinking at the moment

ElsaCC · 08/07/2020 16:13

Those of you who've had the 16 weeks scan, do they measure the baby? Did they tell you how far along they think you are?
Any questions I should be asking then? I have my scan in a couple of hours and I'm hoping they bring my dates forward 🤭

LoveSunshine01 · 08/07/2020 16:23

Hey @elsaCC no they didn't measure or change the dates. They just checked blood pressure and urine. In my area they checked baby's heartbeat too, but I don't think they do that everywhere cos they can't always locate it at this stage so don't worry if they try and fail!

Bumble84 · 08/07/2020 16:40

In Scotland you don’t get a 16w scan. We get a 12 and 20w scan only. I didn’t even know it differed across the country. I just assumed those of you who were getting a 16w scan were doing it privately.

ElsaCC · 08/07/2020 16:45

Yes I meant the private exams
I have my 16 week appointment with the midwife tomorrow but today I have a scan with window to the womb
Sorry should have been a bit more specific but my words aren't coming out! Not sure if because of lockdown or pregnancy brain 😅

Pea1984 · 08/07/2020 17:00

My private scan has 14cm printed down the side. I assume that’s the measurement but didn’t notice her actually measure and she didn’t say anything about it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t think they would change dates though.

LoveSunshine01 · 08/07/2020 17:17

@ElsaCC sorry I clearly didn't read that very carefully! 😂

Nic2908 · 08/07/2020 17:18

@ElsaCC I had 16w at window to the womb. Literally just the same as a 12 week scan really just they could tell the sex and the placenta placement. Not really much h said it terms of actual baby health. Heard the heart beat for the first time too.

ElsaCC · 08/07/2020 18:25

Its a boy!! So exciting

Christmas babies thread 4!
Pea1984 · 08/07/2020 18:33

@ElsaCC Congratulations! 💙
I’m now worried as you have 17.2cm on yours and mine was only 14cm 😬

ElsaCC · 08/07/2020 19:21

@Pea1984 yeah I was looking at that and was a bit confused if that is the measurement from crown to rump or legs included because if its crown to rump then I should be around 19 weeks (based on measurement). What I saw online at 16 weeks baby should be around 12-13 cm so I don't know really. I'll have to ask my midwife tomorrow

Bumble84 · 09/07/2020 12:57

@ElsaCC nah, that’s me picking it up wrong! I was just gutted in case I was missing out on another chance to see my baby!

Good news I’m scotland today, partners are now allowed to attend scans!!
