Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

They are! We used all in ones for my son when he was crawling but not walking (he was born in spring so crawling phase over autumn/winter) and they were good for that as I could plonk him down on the ground when we were outside and know he was warm and dry. Had one for him when he was a newborn and honestly it was a nightmare. You’ll want to go for absolute ease and speed over cuteness after a very short time!

HarrietM87 · 02/07/2020 17:22

(I meant pram suit when I said all in one above)

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/07/2020 17:26

@HarrietM87 absolutely. Tbh I’m not anticipating us going out much over winter, I think there will still be Covid concerns and we’ll be home more than anything. Which is fine with me!

Sweetpea1985 · 02/07/2020 17:50

@HarrietM87 oooh just looked at the star wrap it's so cute 😍🤩 definitely think I should get one of those.
I dont have any mum friends so you guys are a godsend for ftms my mum and MILs advice can be a bit outdated lol

Fouryearslater · 02/07/2020 17:58

The star wraps are an absolute MUST 😍

MrsR87 · 02/07/2020 20:00

Just catching up on today's thread! In terms of clothes, I bought my first proper purchase today...3 long sleeve rompers/ sleep suits. It got me thinking, from the online antenatal videos I've seen the first few weeks it was all about baby grows, vests, sleep suits etc. Does anyone plan on buying 'proper' outfits like T-shirt's with leggings/ dungarees for this age or will you be sticking to all in ones for the first few weeks? Interested to get opinions as I am so clueless!

Sweetpea1985 · 02/07/2020 20:06

@MrsR87 all I have is sleep suits, I figured I wont be venturing out much in the winter months to be honest I dont like winter at the best of times, and when I'm home little one will mostly be sleeping I guess so I dont really feel the need for anything other than sleep suits.

HarrietM87 · 02/07/2020 20:29

My son was in babygros for the first 3 months, but after that it was summer so I had lots of little rompers/dungaree shorts for him...won’t be able to reuse those for this baby!

I really don’t like to see tiny babies in like jeans and shirts, but soft leggings and tops/long sleeve vests are just as comfy as babygros and in some ways easier for nappy changes etc so I’ll probably do that again after about 3 months.

MissingMo · 02/07/2020 21:22

@MrsR87 with my DD she wore sleepsuits until roughly 3 or 4 months. Its was just more practical. Of course if she had an outfit bought as a gift or it was a special occasion she wore outfits. I will be planning on doing the same with DS, even bought a little Robin sleepsuit for Xmas day.

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/07/2020 22:59

@MrsR87 pretty much planning sleepsuits only for the first 3 months. Easy, comfy, and I expect we’ll both be lying around a lot. I’m into finding funky colourful stuff for when he’s older though, most of the baby boy stuff in the mainstream shops is so boring! All blue and about 90% seems to have a dinosaur on 🤷🏼‍♀️

Random question - I know we shouldn’t be sleeping on our backs now (fine with me, natural side/front sleeper) but what about lying on my back to read and things. Is that ok? As long as I move periodically?

Pinktruffle · 02/07/2020 23:02

I read that as long as we weren't flat on our back - at atleast a 45 degree angle - we were ok to read etc on our backs. I'm in bed watching TV at the minute with pillows propping me up! @BuffaloCauliflower

BuffaloCauliflower · 02/07/2020 23:10

@Pinktruffle hmm, that’s almost worst than sideways to read. Feels very unnatural! I’ll try

Pinktruffle · 02/07/2020 23:32

Do you lie flat and read @BuffaloCauliflower? I admire you, I'd always be dropping the book on my face!

Sweetpea1985 · 03/07/2020 00:42

Has anyone else had random days/nights of feeling really sick?
I'm sat up in bed because I feel too sick to lie down not sure if this is something I should be concerned about 🤢

BuffaloCauliflower · 03/07/2020 08:49

@Pinktruffle yeh pretty much! I read in the bath a lot too and have yet to drop a book in the bath 🤞🏻 I have a cushion or pillow under my head that slightly raises my head and shoulders up, but pretty much flat! I don’t sleep on my back though.

I’ve started getting pains in my hips lying in bed to sleep though, both sides and I’m turning side to side to try and get comfy and it ain’t working! I almost sleep on my front (hips mostly flat down, top twisted to the side) but slowly as bump goes up that’s becoming harder. I fear discomfort sleeping is on its way!

BuffaloCauliflower · 03/07/2020 08:51

@Sweetpea1985 could it be heartburn/reflux? I’ve felt sick waking up for years and it’s essentially caused by stomach acid coming up the pipes while I’m lying down to sleep. I know this can get worse in pregnancy and could be more than just morning, especially if you were laying down for a bit before you posted. Have you tried seeing if Rennie or similar helps?

Sweetpea1985 · 03/07/2020 10:15

@BuffaloCauliflower not sure if it was heartburn, I had (tmi) diarrhoea as well. Maybe I ate something funny.

Mn345678 · 03/07/2020 10:22

Hiya why is there a need to create new threads? Kinda new here :D

Pink15 · 03/07/2020 10:24

@Mn345678 I think the maximum number of posts is 1000 in each thread :) welcome! When are you expecting?

Addler · 03/07/2020 11:00

I must've slept funny last night as I've woken up with a very stiff and sore neck, I can't look left. It would be so much easier if I could take some anti inflammatories!

CharisA · 03/07/2020 11:06

@Happymama24 - I had a really rough start to pregnancy bad morning sickness the smell of everything made me sick it cleared up around week 12 but then about week 15 it's come back bit by bit getting sick feeling really worn out and weak just feel like my body is just worn down... My doctor said it's very normal to get this coming back and that it will pass 😊
I haven't been glowing at all but slowly slowly starting to get back more energy I hope you start feeling more energized soon!

CharisA · 03/07/2020 11:10

Im 18 weeks pregnant and I have type one diabetes so ill be induced mid Novemebr.
I am having a really rough time with the pregnancy and my work are putting pressure on me and making me feel pretty bad about myself and not understanding that I am having a really tough time, ive been very upfront and honest with them as the diabetes just adds an extra strain on my body during pregnancy, but my work seem to throw the things ive said back at me and it's making me very stressed. Is anyone else having issues with work or having a rough pregnancy and feel under pressure?

Clove20 · 03/07/2020 11:28

@charisa

I'm sorry you've been having a tough time at work. I don't know if you saw my post weeks ago around my work issues.
I have been having issues at work since I told my manager I was pregnant.
I've had one medical problem after another and had to have time off. But once I was feeling better I was so excited and ready to go back to work and on day 1 she basically put me right back down.
I've spoke to the union, lodged an informal complaint to begin with (will escalate this to formal if it's not dealt with).
& been off sick for 2 weeks with stress, which my GP has just extended for another 2 weeks today

HarrietM87 · 03/07/2020 11:30

When’s everyone going on mat leave? I just had to tell my work. I’m taking 2 weeks annual leave before my due date and then mat leave will start on my due date, so last day at work will be 23 October, when I’ll be 38 weeks.

Clove20 · 03/07/2020 11:30

@CharisA

Oooo posted before I had finished.

If you are feeling stressed, I would suggest speaking to your GP. It only took my midwife asking me how work was, and me breaking down in tears at my 16 week appointment that made me realise I couldn't carry on under such immense pressure.

Look after you and baby x
