So ladies.
You don’t need to say anything!! I know how stupid this will sound 🙈
My son is 14 weeks this Wednesday and this morning I woke up so nauseous I was very nearly sick a few times (I’m never sick) it passed by mid morning, I then went to the toilet and wiped what looked like an implant bleed, nothing since.
I’m EBF apart from a couple of weeks ago where I subbed a few feeds for a couple of days.
Anyone else ever been in this position. Is it normal to spot during breastfeeding?
I can’t get out to get a test today so sat on the sofa feeding my newborn worrying slightly 🤦‍♀️
Xxx

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TooMinty · 22/06/2020 15:56

I did spot but it was later on, when he was on solids so feeding less. Other unlucky people get periods as normal all through breastfeeding. I also know a couple of people who got pregnant whilst breastfeeding, one at about the same gap as you. Can you ask someone to pick up a test for you? x

Myhooversucks · 22/06/2020 16:16

My other children my period came back around 6 months, I personally never spotted but thought it may be normal still.
I could ask my partner but not sure how to drop that in a casual text 😂
On a serious note! Holy shit that’s like a 12 month age gap! I know it’s possible but it’s got to be rare and very unlikely, right?
I wonder if pregnancy symptoms are different if you’ve just given birth! Xx

If you Amazon prime a pregnancy test you could have it by tomorrow.
Ps I love the title of this thread. Good luck xx

Myhooversucks · 22/06/2020 16:26

I cancelled Amazon Prime last month. 😩
Any help in wording a text message to my partner? I don’t even have any friends I can blame it on as I’ve moved counties.

I could just be your periods returning. Have you been taking any precautions?

dementedpixie · 22/06/2020 16:31

it*

Myhooversucks · 22/06/2020 16:34

Pull out 😬

OP posts:
TooMinty · 22/06/2020 16:36

Oh dear, there's definitely a chance you could be pregnant then! I'd be texting partner to get one, doubt there's any way to word it that won't freak him out... Good luck!

Redred2429 · 22/06/2020 16:38

Hi op could your partner pop out and get a test ?

Soubriquet · 22/06/2020 16:40

Yeah there’s definitely a chance you could be pregnant if you’re using pull out method

Especially since you’re more fertile after birth..

TopBitchoftheWitches · 22/06/2020 16:49

Not rare at all, 13 months between my dds and 9 months between ds's, latter was 2 months premature.

Giganticshark · 22/06/2020 16:55

Really really common thing to happen.
You have several kids, you should know this happens.
Only way to know is buy a pregnancy test.
And some condoms

Myhooversucks · 22/06/2020 16:59

My partner is manager of Tesco and at work till 10 tonight, I could text him and get him to pick one up, but seriously how would I word it,

“Hey baby, we are in need of some wine, buy yourself a beer too if you like, my treat, oh and some condoms....oh and a pregnancy test.

I know pull out isn’t the best but I thought with EBF the chances would be so tiny! Like super tiny!

OP posts:
serenada · 22/06/2020 17:02

I thought that was a myth? And that you are super fertile after having a baby?

But then I am learning all this from MN, so feel free to disregard my sum total of knowledge on the subject. Grin

Myhooversucks · 22/06/2020 17:02

I get this is a dickhead move now... I guess I’ve always been lucky before but just didn’t know it.
I honestly thought the chances were tiny!

Just say you’re feeling a bit anxious about not having any periods and you just want a test so you can put your mind at ease

Giganticshark · 22/06/2020 17:06

You have sex, babies, live together, he's seen you give birth.... All the really intimate parts of life. But you can't ask him to grab a PT on the way home?
I'm struggling with this.
Really not difficult. Does he know unprotected sex is how conception happens?

Smallsteps88 · 22/06/2020 17:10

“Don’t panic but I need you to bring home a pregnancy test”

He’s had the sex- he knows what the consequences are.

dementedpixie · 22/06/2020 17:11

Bteastfeeding can be used as birth control before 6 months but all feeds need to be from the breast I.e. no formula feeds.

Monsterjam · 22/06/2020 17:12

I feel pregnant when I was exclusively Bf my first, period hadn’t started again and I needed Ivf for my first and boom, a 14 month age gap and very tired me. Hope you get the results you want x

dementedpixie · 22/06/2020 17:14

From nhs:

Contraception and breastfeeding

You're unlikely to have any periods if you breastfeed exclusively (give your baby breast milk only) and your baby is under 6 months old.

Because of this, some women use breastfeeding as a form of natural contraception. This is known as thelactational amenorrhoea method, or LAM.

It's important to start using another form of contraception if:

  • your baby is more than 6 months old
  • you give them anything else apart from breast milk, such as a dummy, formula orsolid foods
  • your periods start again (even light spotting counts)
  • you stop night feeding
  • you start to breastfeed less often
  • there are longer intervals between feeds, both during the day and at night

The effect ofexpressing breast milkon LAM isn't known, but it may make it less effective.

Monsterjam · 22/06/2020 17:20

Oh I fell not feel! Post night shift brain

Superscientist · 22/06/2020 17:22

Hey, could you bring home a pregnancy test and some condoms? I was a bit nauseous this morning and want to rule out morning sickness

chasingmytail4 · 22/06/2020 17:35

I fell pregnant with number four whilst breastfeeding number three, had no periods between them, so it does happen. Nausea was my first clue. Get a test OP, if only to put your mind at rest.

FurbabyLife · 22/06/2020 17:41

Pull out method? Really? 🙄
